Is there a list or a map somewhere that tells where all the Grand Villas are located?

Here is a report of the OKW resort configuration: OKW.

GV's are found in Buildings 15,16,19,22,25,29,43,48,49,51,53 and 63.

Gary (GDUL) has created a great map with GVs located as well as other special villa types:

Can I find this map somewhere that I can look at a larger version. These old eyes are having trouble reading the Legend. :lmao:

I can tell that yellow means Grand Villa, but I cannot tell what the red means.
Does the red mean HA? If so, would that mean that the GV in that building is HA?

To my knowledge, there are only two HCA GVs at OKW - there is one in building 48 and one in Building 63 (with an elevator). The one in Building 48 has ground floor access and in both only the master BR is accessible since there is no acessibility to the upper floor of the GV where the other 2 BRs are located.

On the map, if there are GVs in the other buildings marked as HCA, they are not accessible as the entrance is on the 2nd floor for these GVs. The HCA villas in the other buildings are all on the ground floor and most (if not all) will be lockoff 2BRs with both the 1BR and studio portions accessible.

If my memory serves me correctly, there are more than 25 Grand Villas at OKW. Based on the map, that must mean that there are two Grand Villas in the buildings that have Grand Villas.

If I need two Grand Villas for our stay, and if I request that we be in the same bulding, will that probably happen? :confused3

Maybe....You certainly can request that. Of course if you need 1 handicapped and one not, that will limit your chances a bit further, but I'd certainly request if that is what you want. There are no guarantees on requests though.

The map has handicapped GV's in several buildings. That is wrong. The only HCA GV's are in building 63 will the elevator. There are 2 of them in that building, we have stayed in both. There may be one in building 64 since it has an elevator but I don't know for sure. Never stayed in 64. The only ground floor unit is I believe what Doc said, in building 43. We also stayed in that building one time. There may be others HC rooms but they are not without steps. They are not HCA units. I guess Disney calls any HC unit HCA.

The only ground floor access GV is in building 48. It's on the side of the building closest to the bus stop. We have stayed in that one and, as Doc mentioned, only the first floor is accessible. There are 2 bathrooms on the first floor, but only the master bathroom is accessible. That GV has a roll in shower.

When we made our reservations for the GV with a roll in shower, we were told that there was only one ground floor access GV (the one we got) and one in building 63.

Since Merilyn says she has stayed in 2 accessible GVs in building 63, I wonder if one was accessible (with things like raised seat toilet, grab bars) and the other had a roll in shower??

There are 27 GVs at OKW.

MS will try to meet requests, but they are just that - requests.

Good luck! :)

I know there was a roll in shower in both of the GV's we stayed in in building 63. I can't honestly tell you about the other items you listed. I am not the handicapped one so I can't remember if there were bars and higher beds. I really never noticed the beds and I have slept in them. Both GV's were the same as I remember them. The master was the only one on the ground floor of the unit. The other 2 BR's were upstairs. The HHC GV's were in 63 upstairs on each side of the elevator. Hope this helps.

Are all of the master bedrooms in grand villas on the main level? I'm thinking of
inviting my parents next time and this would be great for them. :goodvibes

Yes, the master bedroom is on the main level of the villa. All other bedrooms are up the stairs. Remember that most GV's have the entrance on the second floor. So your parents will have to go up two flights of stairs to get to the GV. Unless of course you get one of the HA villas described in this thread.

RWE,
Building 15 is the one we like.

p.s. thanks for the map, Doc!

We stayed in building 48 HCA GV last October/Nov. It is located right by the bus stop, and access is ground level. The master bath has the roll in shower on the ground level .. the bath is still two sections, (for the tub and shower) We slept in the master bedroom and the bed was not higher than normal. My dad is HC and we had a HCA Ground Floor studio in building 48 about 3 doors down from the GV ..it was great, as he could come and go to he GV, and getting him on and off the bus was very convenient.

The upstairs of our unit in building 48 was not HCA. The second bath on the first floor was also not HCA ...it was a standard 3/4 bath (shower, no tub) The only other thing we noticed was in the kitchen there are no cabinet doors below the sink so someone in a wheelchair would be able to use the sink. I think the counters may have been lower, but truthfully, I don't remember.

The toilet in the master bath was raised and had the grab bar on one side ..the roll in shower had a seat you could fold down from the wall. I was afraid the bathroom floor would flood when we used the shower, but it didn't.

My dad's HCA studio had the same bathroom set up as the master bedroom in the GV.

We did not ask for a HCA unit ... I had asked for a uint in a elevator building and first floor studio for my dad ...thinking he could come up the GV via the elevator. We appreciated the room controller putting us all in bulding 48 (we had 2 studios and a GV) and we had one additional studio in bulding 53 ...all very convenient for our group of 14 to use the GV for meals, family reunion time, etc.

Have a great trip.

Peggy

Can I talk you into sharing your reasons? View, nice and quiet, etc.
I know you probably have a vehicle with you. We have some folks that may need to get to the Hospitality House on their own during our stay, so I was thinking that building 25 would do that as well as give access to two bus stops.

Building 15 has a nice woods/golf course view. It has access to both HH and Miller Road bus stops as well as Peninsular.

Building 25 has a golf view and also has easy access to HH and Peninsular Road stops.

I need some more info on the HA GV's in bldg 63. Does the elevator only go to the 1st floor of the GV, or does it go up another floor and there another entrance on the 2nd floor of the GV? And, are there only two GV's in bldg 63 and are both HA?

Only to the first floor, and the first floor is the only HA portion of the GV as well.

As to building 15, we LOVED that building the few times we have stayed there, and especially enjoyed the GV there.

For the person who commented on building 25, you would have to have booked the HH catagory in order to get that one.
