I thought I would find some good advice over here concerning OKW. We are going to be in Orlando for three weeks and we thought we would give OKW a try. My parents are going the first week and they don't really care if they go to the parks. I was looking on Deb's site and it looked like there is a lot to do at OKW. I decided on that resort for most of our trip since we will be there so long I want to be able to get away from all of the action. What are some of the things you enjoy doing at OKW? My kids are under 10, what would they like to do? My dh is just excited to be on the golf course! I'm excited about the new slide. My kids are big into slides. That's their favorite thing about the Polynesian.
I have another question about two bedrooms at the other DVC resorts. How are the two bedrooms set up? Is the second bedroom a studio? I would prefer not to have two pull out couches.
Thanks!

For a stay that long, OKW would be at the top of our list. Its exactly the place to take a break from all the action.

At OKW you will have two queens in the second bedroom.

Just to elaborate on Stacy's response, all the studios at OKW have two beds...no pull out sleeper sofas. So even if you get a lockoff with a 1BR and a studio, you will have two regular beds in the second bedroom.

If you're looking for a "decompression" after a day in the parks, OKW should be perfect for you! :D

As a longtime OKW member, I can say you have picked out a perfect place! Hope you love it as much as we do! :cloud9:

there is an activity list.

I enjoy just walking around this is a beautiful resort.

I love the general store. Found some very nice gifts there. Although I really love the one at POR - almost next door.

there is a tennis court, half basketball court, there is climbing thing (okay don't know the correct term) at each playground - there are 4. Correction there is not one at the main pool - but the quiet pools there are 3.

they have video to rent (free for members), games to play.

there is a library - but you can't take the books out of the library...so I don't use the library much.

the Friendly People.l

You can walk/boat/bus over to DD if anyone gets bored.

We went for 7 nights withn the new slide under construction and I was a bit worried that the kids wouldn't be happy there - but they both loved it and can't wait to stay there again. We did end up pool hopping to the Poly, SSR, and the BW Luna Pool - so that helped the slide issue - but they loved the huge room, and the activities at the Hosp House. Also the boat to DTD and SSR, It's so relaxing there - a great place for the parks and for just staying in!

OKW is a wonderful choice,we love it there, and look forward to staying there again in November for 12 days.......You'll be there for 3 weeks, that's awesome.Have a wonderful time!

Hi
Though not a DVC member I would like to say that our family of 8 really enjoyed our 10 day stay at OKW last summer. We had a 2bdrm, 2nd floor in building 23. A large kingsize bed in the master bdrm, 2 queen size beds in second bdrm, a pullout couch ( that can sleep 2) in the living room area, two nice size bathrooms, washer & dryer, and a nice kitchen with a big balcony that overlooked a water area and a fountain. It was beautiful!
Even Mom(85) did not mind walking up and down the steps to get to the villa. No one complained! It definitely gets the Jensen family vote! First timers ever staying in a DVC :D
Have a Magical Time!
:wave: ::yes::

The "other" resorts are a mix.

At BWV all the 2 bedrooms have a studio with a (pullout) couch and a bed for the second bedroom. Its actually quite nice if the occupant is another adult or an adult couple, they get their own door to the room, mini kitchen and couch so they don't need to sit on the bed to watch TV or read - though I can see why two beds are preferred if you are going to be using both beds.

At the other resorts there are a mix of "dedicated" two bedrooms with two queens and "lockoff" two bedrooms like at BWV.
