After we checked into our room last Sunday, we realized that the kitchen faucet was dripping - it filled a glass in about six hours. Also, the toilet did not always flush on the first touch. Monday morning I called engineering. When we returned later in the day, the drip & toilet were fixed.

After the OKW meeting we talked to the head of engineering at OKW. One of our concerns is the maintenance of the bathroom caulk. In the shower the caulk had some mildew spots. The caulk around the hot tub was coming loose. True to DVC form, when we returned to our room that night there were signs in the bathroom - over the shower & near the hottub - alerting us to the fresh caulk & to not get it wet. Also, the hot tub was filled with cold water - the caulk needs to be placed around the tub when it has a load in it.

Ideally it would be wonderful if the housekeepers & engineering CMs found every problem. However, they do not spend the time in the unit, living there, that members do. I encourage all members to pick up the phone if you have a problem, concern, etc. We received excellent responses for OKW engineering last week - thank you!!

Good points, Judith.

We have also found engineering to be very responsive to any concerns with a room. It's far better to allow the resort to correct a concern at the time instead of just mentioning it days later on the internet.

Nice to read a positive post about repairs & maint. So many of them are about unpleasant experiences. I have always loved Disney and found their facilities to be top rate. I am very fortunate to be a member of DVC.

Another thumbs up for engineering and repairs! We have always had super quick, positive responses from them. We even pointed out a small 'problem' to them in the master bathroom one trip after my son locked himself in the bathroom and they had to take the door handle completely off to 'rescue' him. They proceeded to replace it with one you can 'pick' with a toothpick. They also commented that they were immediately shipping back the ones they had in inventory to get ones that were 'pickable'. ;)

Oh the adventures!!:o

We have always been impressed by enginering at DVC. Just last month we stayed at BCV in a 1 BR. The commode seat fell completely apart, for Gosh sakes. Enginering came within 30 mintues and replaced it. They said the seat was the wrong one anyway.

What puzzels me is when you enter a villa and it has obvious problems, I wonder why the previous occupant didn't report it.

They might be the same guests who return home & complain on the bbs :)! A call to housekeeping or engineering at the time would have been more productive than typing on your keyboard at home :)!

Another positive comment regarding the head of OKW Enginering ... in chatting with him, we mentioned some concerns about our room last May. We complimented the CMs who helped us & the head of engineering said he remembered hearing about our situation. So communication IS alive & well at OKW!
