I'm sorry for this as I've tried to find an OKW thread but can't seem to find one. I have rented DVC points for 5 nights and will be staying in a Studio. I am going solo so I want to be as close as I can to the main building but didn't realize how big OKW was until I looked at the map, which is confusing in of itself, lol. What would be my best bet for room request to be close to the main building? This will be my first time staying here as I usually stay at POP. Any suggestions would be great, thank you. :-)

If you haven’t booked a room labeled close to the hospitality house, then you could end up anywhere. The hospitality house is actually the last stop when taking the buses in the morning to the parks. There are several other bus stops that load first. You can hop on any bus to get to the hospitality house.

Here is the main thread:

The buildings closest to the main building ("Hospitality House") are a booking category and not a request. The first post in that linked thread has a map - the blue outline buildings are the ones closest to HH.

Miller's Road is a good area to request, but remember that nothing is guaranteed.

Thank you, for some reason I just couldn’t find it. 😊

Thank you for the suggestion and understand nothing is guaranteed. It just makes my DH feel safer knowing I’m close to the main buildings when I take my solo trips. 😊

Where would I find that? Am I right in thinking if it was it would state it here in MDE:

That trek from the furthest away buildings is no joke. Especially after a park day, it’s l-o-n-g! If you happen to get a far away bldg., take any bus. They all stop at the hospitality house last. They come along pretty frequently.

Did you book the room or someone else? It would have been done at booking time. It’s one of the 2 options given. I’m not sure if it’s labeled as such on the reservation after booking, but I’d guess it is.

I rented through David’s DVC so that wasn’t mentioned.

Oh, yeah. That’s the problem w the 3rd party vendors. I used his service once, and when I went to ask if they could note a location request on the reservation, they said no, that’s not something they can do. In actuality, they don’t want to contact the person w the points to do that bcz that’s the person that needs to do it. I pushed them hard in it because I used to be an owner, so I know what’s possible and what’s not. They finally relented and had the member do what I wanted. That question should have been asked of you up front to be honest. You don’t know as a non-owner how that works. You can try and see if they can make an adjustment for you, or at least a request. They may refuse, but then you know how the customer service is and you can choose differently next time if you want. Good luck!

I LOVE solo trips! I LOVE OKW!
I used David's Rental several times in the past, but as an owner on a prior contract. I was contacted often to add/change the ressie needs of the renter. It's part of the responsibility of the owner. David's never hesitated to ask & I never had an issue helping "my renters."
So, I wouldn't hesitate to contact them with ANY requests or questions. If you get an uncooperative agent, hang up & try again. Or use their email to put it in writing.

Having said that, if you're not on a tight park activities schedule, every location has access easy to the all the busses but they do eat up time. I never mind bc I enjoy taking my time.

If you're hoping for a bit of R & R, I enjoy the quiet pools more than the more crowded 'party' atmosphere at the Sand Castle. So your room request might consider that.

However, I understand & share security concerns. The bus loops the entire property so you can always go to a 'quiet' pool that way if you want.

The OKW THREAD someone posted is really helpful.
I hope you enjoy OKW. 🌴:cloud9:

Thank you for the info. I will reach out to David’s and see if they can add a room request.

I recently stayed in a studio at OKW and we were located in Building 19 (Miller's Road section). The room we had was right next to the bus stop, which was fabulous and it was just a quick walk to/from the Hospitality House.
