Hi

I might be heading to the World early next month and wondered if it would be possible to sign the documents declining the OKW extension option whilst I was there? Being from the UK, I would rather not have the worry of having US legal documents sent to me to be notarised as I'm not sure if it is that simple here!

Thanks

Hannah

In November we were told "no", but I have heard of others being able to do it now.

At the Annual Meeting we were told it could be done that way. We're going to try to go over to SSR this week for that purpose and will report back.

I specifically asked that question at the December 4, 2007 meeting for OKW owners. I asked it we could do the deed back paperwork while at WDW & was told yes.

Just curious ... has anyone seen this paperwork yet?

I was able to do this in January when I was visiting. I called ahead left the family at the park they picked me up, preparred the docs and I signed them w/ a witness there. Very easy. Just let your guide know when you will be there.

Hopefully if we have not received our documents before we leave for AKV on March 1st, they will let us do that when we get there.

Diane,

Why not call your guide now and ask...that way they may actually have the paperwork ready and waiting for you. I think they may simply be waiting until after the final decision deadline in February, that way if someone did decline and change their mind or vice-versa, they wouldn't have to do the paperwork twice.

Yep, left a message for him already, Chuck. He is the one who told us before that it couldn't be done that way, but I suspect we wanted to do it sooner than they were prepared.

We're at OKW now and just an hour ago I asked about this at the SSR sales center. The response was that there is no current method available to do this now as none of the documents have been prepared. This information came from one of the associates at the sales desk after about 10 minutes of back and forth with someone he was discussing this with on the phone. I'm not entirely surprised the information I've received is different from Kabuli1's experience in January. I've left a voice mail for our guide but he hasn't yet returned my call. I'll return to post once I hear from our guide or if I learn additional information.

That's interesting, but I just called yesterday, and they are going to prepare our documents so we CAN sign them when we are down in the begining of March. I even have the time set up with our guide to do this.

When I was down there in January there was confusion about this. My guide is in CA so she wasn't there to assist me - the guide they sent out to help me didn't know it could be done - he said absolutely not - but agreed to ask the manager there. Of course they could and they did and it was completed very quickly. They aren't well informed. But they certainly do have the ability to produce the "Quit-Claim" Documents to sign there.

Our guide called back this morning and discussed this with my wife as I wasn't available. He still states it can't be done now but will be sometime in March. The explanation was that they are concentrating their efforts first on completing the documents for those members who have accepted the extension. Yet, on another thread WebmasterDoc reports having completed his declination documents this morning. Clearly it depends who you talk to. My guess is one more call to our guide or possibly even to Quality Assurance will get the job done. Thanks for the information.

We did complete the documents this morning.

They are not yet ready to send out by mass mailing and from what I was told today, I don't expect anyone to receive them until probably April. I am also satisfied that no owners will have a lien placed against their account or any other penalty for not completing the paperwork since many have not responded in any fashion and DVD is working on contacting those members at this time.

If you live outside of the US or Canada, you may even need to complete the paperwork while on site.

Regardless, if you feel the need to sign the documents onsite, be prepared to spend a little time with the effort. They are NOT really set up to do this at the sales center. The documents are being prepared and mailed offsite so anything done at SSR needs to be prepared thru the system there.

If you must do this while onsite I'd definitely call ahead - as Diane has done - set up an appointment so that they can prepare the documents before you even arrive and the process shouldn't take too long.

For each contract you own (Master contract and each add-on) there will be two documents to sign (by each person on the deed). The signing must be witnessed (DVC will provide a witness in addition to the QA rep) and notarized (all Quality Assurance representatives are also Notaries).

If I had it to do again, I'd just wait until receiving the documents and complete it at home.

For us it's a matter of convenience only - nothing more. Since we're at OKW now and with the number of contracts we have I'd feel better taking care of it now. The need to sign, witness and notarize this many documents will be a real chore for us back home. It's no surprise though that the information we've been provided so far has been inconsistent from the information provided to other posters.

If you don't mind, please post the two documents, deleting your personal info of course.

I do not yet have copies of the documents signed. I was told I should receive those in a few weeks after recording.

There is only one document - but two copies were signed for each contract.

I talked to my guide yesterday (Judy Kaufamn) and told her we'd be down March 19th and she told us, they were not doing the OKW extension declines in person, everything had to be mailed and noterized!! As we preferred to get it done while we were there...she did say it would take til mid march to receive our documents in the mail...I guess they will wait til we get back from Spring Break.

We were told the same earlier this week by our guide. Since we're at OKW now I called Quality Assurance directly, bypassing our guide, to inquire concerning the inconsistent experiences reported by other owners. Apparently QA didn't get the same memo our guides received as they were very pleasant and gladly scheduled us to sign our documents later today (Saturday afternoon). We were told the documents are kept in Celebration and needed to be faxed to the sales center. Allowing them a bit of time to get the paperwork in place by scheduling in advance (like you tried to do) seems wise and would likely result in an expedited signing process for you. If this is still important to you I'd suggest a call directly to QA to schedule your signing. Good luck.
