We will be at OKW from July 6-10 and was curious about the bus situation...I have read good and bad reviews of the buses...is there a set schedule to follow for the parks or do you just try your luck?

Also are there buses to other resorts from OKW or do you need to go to a part and switch there (we are character brkf. reservations at Chef Mickeys in the Contemp.)

There are always good and bad experiences with wait times for busses. I have stayed at a number of resorts and can't say that one is better than another for bus service. It depends a lot on the proximity of the specific park to the specific resort. Remember that there are 5 bus stops at OKW, so you can spend quite a while driving around OKW to pick up others before you even leave the resort. I just say that so you set aside enough time before your character breakfast ressies. You may want to take the bus to Magic Kingdom and then monorail over to Contemporary. Your kids might like riding with the monorail driver. You need to ask for that specifically when you walk up to the monorail loading area.

You may also want to post this question on the Disney Resort forum or the Transportation forum.

We will be at OKW July 7-12. Hope you have a great time!

We have never had serious bus problems as OKW in many trips. Once in awhile you will find a wait one day, but nothing that has been a problem for us.

Buses run to the parks and Downtown Disney. You can take a bus to the MK and transfer to the monorail or walk to the Contemporary from there. The bus stop at MK is right near the front entrance of the park on the Contemporary side, so walking is even a possibility. It is no farther than walking to Epcot from
BWV.

Buses run from 1 1/2 hours before parks open until 1 1/2 hour after they close. To get to other resorts after parks are closed, you have to use the transportation through Downtown Disney, or take a cab. We usually rent a car for back and forth to the airport as well as for dining at other resorts after park hours.

How lucky are you ?

We've gotten to the bus stop just as it arrived- hey buses at OKW are wonderfull.

We've gotten to the bus stop just in time to inhale diesel exhaust and had to wait for another: hey buses at OKW are terrible !!

It's all about timing. We generally try to stay near the main pool and use the bus stop in front of the check in building. My only warning is if you are leaving OKW for PS at another resort, plan on leaving 90 minutes early.

I don't know about July, but when we were there in Feb, the buses were great, most of the time we never waited more than 15-20 minutes. Though, as KNWVIKING said, timing can be everything - as we did get a good whiff of the exhaust fumes of the MK bus one morning. :D

I've always been a fan of the buses at OKW. The last thing that we want to do while we're on vacation is deal with parking lots.

We've rarely had a problem with Disney transportation.

My experience has been that buses are good as long as you try to arrive at your destination an hour early. I had good experience traveling from resort to parks and back to the resort. But I have always been of the understanding bus travel between resorts and to Downtown Disney can take a very long time. My daughter nearly missed a Cirque du Soleil show when she had to go to Downtown Disney from OKW. She could have walked it faster. Take the bus when you can be flexible. Drive a car when you need to get somewhere for a reservation. There is no schedule. To my knowledge the buses run every 20 minutes if you are lucky or they are summoned by a cast member who may be monitoring the demand. Good luck!
