This being our first time at OKW or any DVC (just purchased a resale), we are looking at buildings 23-26 to put a special request in for. Has anyone stayed at these buildings? What did you think of them? Would you request a particular Floor? Was it close to the hospitality area? I have been reading alot of post and see most people like Turtle Pone or South Point. Any particular reason?

Thanks

Mickey,

Below is a map for OKW resort. If you don't mind walking up 2 flights of stairs I would recomend the top floor(3rd). Also if you want to be near the HH , buildings 11-14 are the nearest to it.

Building 23 - 3 stories
Building 24 - 2 stories
Building 25 - 3 stories and "smoking optional"
Building 26 - 3 stories

WebmasterDoc posted this information a while back.

We request Building 24. Love the location!

That's our favorite location. The rooms are a short walk to the main pool, and an even shorter walk to the bus stop. Plus bus stop at the Hospitality House is close, too. On our last trip we would get off the bus on Peninsular Road. That's right in front of those buildings, and it was the first stop on the way in. On the way to the parks, we'd pick up the bus at thHH, which was the last stop on the way out of the complex.

Bus routes change, but if they still make the stops in this order, this strategy lets you avoid those looong bus rides through the resort.

We stayed in building 23 (2311) last year. It was a handicapped 1 bedroom on the first floor. We liked the location. It was at the end of the building 23 closest to the road and bridge. Close to the Hospitality House and the bus stop. We were disappointed to have a handicapped room, but it wasn't too bad. We did like being on the first floor though.

What is the difference between a regular room and a handicap room? Why would one be given a handicap room if they don't need it? Can you not request a handicap room?

We stayed in 2621 on our first DVC trip in 2000. We liked this 1 bedroom, it was on the end of 26 closest to 25 and had both a pond and golf green view. Close walk to the HH and bus stop. We requested 23 to 26 again in 2001 but got building 28. We didn't like this room as much, it was along the fairway and had a view of mostly trees and bushes. I noticed a big pond on the other side of the fairway, which was Turtle Pond Road, so I requested that this year and got building 31 (3111). We really liked that room, lots of ducks, birds, turtles plus the fairway & pond view.

I always request non-handicapped. I've never stayed in one but friends have and they didn't like the roll-in shower. If handicapped rooms are not requested by those who need it, they will assign them to non-handicapped people if that is all they have left.

No tub. Shower is even with bathroom floor leading to water everywhere. Less under counter space so it will be wheel chair accessible. Request an upper floor to avoid being assigned this type of room if it matters to you. This is the case with a studio. I am not sure if 1 and 2 bedroom units have handicapped bathrooms as well. Does anyone know????

This is our favorite area at OKW. We request it everytime we go and have always stayed in Bldg. 25. Nice views of a pond and golf course and easy walk to HH and main pool area. It's very quiet and relaxing after a day at the parks. We'll be going back there in May.

We stayed in bldg 19, room 1912 with 5 kids ranging in age from 5yrs-12yrs and thought it was a great location. Close to pool and bus stop.Hope this helps:wave:

We stayed in 2524, which was a 1 BR, and were rally impressed by the location. We had views of the golf course and of the pond and enjoyed watching the wildlife from the balcony.

By the way, there were a series of buildings (24, 23?) that were being completely re-habbed while we were there (7-6 to 7-12). You might want to factor this into your planning!

We stayed in Building 27 (next door to the cluster your refering too) and we loved it.... Short walk to everything, quiet, nice view.... I think any in that area would be wonderful!

Have a great trip!

We requested a room close to the hospitality house and we were placed in building 24. It was a quick walk for our 13 year olds to the pool and game room. There was also a bus stop out front and if we missed the bus we walked over to the hospitality house to pick up the bus when it came back around. We were on the second floor and it was very quiet. I did almost encounter a golf ball as I sat on my deck one afternoon which was a little frightening. I would say all in all in was a wonderful room and perfect location for us.:D
