I've searched and searched and I can't find a dedicated OKW resort thread so I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times.

Would anyone happen to have a building/room suggestion for a 1 bedroom @ OKW? I'm going to call and put a request in. We're traveling with our 3 kids (dd6, dd4, ds2). It's our first time @ OKW and it looks big and beautiful but we kinda need to be close to things. Any suggestions?

thank you!!!!

If you want to be near the main pool, the restaurant and boat dock you need to book the "Near Hospitality House" booking category. It is separate booking category, much like Boardwalk View, etc.

It includes building 11 to 14 and 23 to 26.

Building 62 to 64 are also nearby, by are often held for special needs guests, as these are the only buildings with elevators.

If you are not in the "Near HH" category, bldgs 27 to 29 and 15 to 16 are the closest.

However, there are 5 bus stops at OKW, and the HH stop is the last of the route, so no matter where you are, you can hop on a bus to take you to the main area. Also remember that there are 3 lovely neighborhood pools at OKW, no slides, but all have a sandy play area for kids, a laundry room for studio guests, and a hot tub. The Turtle Pond pool also has a seasonal snack bar and small game room. Charcoal BBQ grills are located by every pool.

To return to your room from the main area, walk across the bridge to the bus stop near bldg 26 (Peninsular Rd), it is the first bus stop in the route, and will return you to you nearest bus stop. Although walking may be faster. It is really an 8 to 10 minute walk from any area of OKW to the hospitality house area.

I've booked a GV at OKW for Feb. I stayed in a studio at OKW in August and was very disappointed in bldg 38. Does anyone know which bldgs with GVs have been renovated?

We just stayed in building 14. It was perfectly close to the HH area. We had rooms 1418 (1bdrm) and 1419 (2bdrm), both are on the first floor. We had no view because of the vegetation, but boy did it make for great sleeping! However, we were close to the main road coming in and dh is not the type to sleep through anything and the buses coming in and out woke him up a couple of times. If we were to go back I would ask for building 13, 12, or 11. We are the type of family that likes to be near the main area and not so removed. We even had a rental car.

Chuck - I did call and asked to be put near the Hospitality House due to my foot surgery.
Do I need to specifically ask for bldgs 62 or 64? are they set up as handicapped rooms? Im looking to be close to Hospitality House but not necessarily a handicapped room.
Also where exactly are the bus stops?

Do you have a room breakdown like this for Saratoga?

As you can see, there are bus stops close to a lot of buildings. How are you getting around WDW with the bad foot? Are you going to have a wheelchair? If you can walk at all, I would just ask to be close to a bus stop. ALL buses stop at Hospitality House before leaving the resort, so it's easy to get there from anywhere. I have never quite understood the need to be close to there anyway. In many trips over the past 11 years, I can't think of very many times that I needed to get to HH. There just isn't much need since we have most services right in your unit and each building. I can't imagine why you might need to go to the store every day.

I am such a light sleeper but I doubt the buses start before my kids wake up LOL. I think I'll just ask for an upper level room with a water view. We won't have a car. Looks like it would be nice to have a room near the main buildings but we're going to have garden grocer deliver us food for the week and just eat out for dinner so maybe the location isn't that important for us. Thanks for the great info. I guess we want to be close to a "kids" pool.

All of the pools have kiddie play areas, but only the main pool has a kiddie wading pool. It's pretty easy to get to the main area on any bus though. Just be aware that if you ask for top floor you will be climbing stairs.

If your are in the "Near HH" Booking category, I wouldn't ask for 62 to 64, as they are not included in that booking category. I would, however, ask for a first floor unit for medical reasons. That way, if you do need to get a scooter, you can still get it in/out of your room and if you are ambulatory enough to get around inside, you probably would not need the lowered beds and raised toilets in the HA rooms.
