This will be our first stay at OKW. The cast will be myself, my DW, and our two DS ages 5 and 2.

What building would you recommend and why?

I am really lost on this one.

I can't think of a building I would NOT reccomend unless it would be 49. Instead of requesting a building, you should request some features you want. You don't say when you are going, but if it is this fall yet, the main pool will be closed while they add in the new slide. Since your children are quite small, you might enjoy being near one of the quiet pools with their little play areas. What size unit are you staying in? That makes a difference. If you want a view, near a pool, smoking preference, water view, etc. Those are the things you should request. Requesting a specific building will probably only lead to disappointment, since there might not be availablility for your size unit in that particular building.

We will be at OKW the last week of January. We are staying in a One-Bedroom.

I was wondering if I should request to be near a bus stop since we will have the little one for this trip?

If you like solitude you can ask for "SouthPoint" which is way down the end. It's quiet and beautiful and this area has a bus stop and quiet pool. You might also ask for "Turtle Pond" area which also has it's own pool and bus stop and a bit more action as there is an arcade and small snack bar at the pool. These are my two favorites. You could simply say "near a pool please" or "right by a bus stop please," if either of these matters most to you. It IS hard to get a bad room here. We were in two studios in the above mentioned #49 last November. #49 is way at the end of the property and close to the road and... we loved it! It was close to a bus stop, we never heard the traffic, the landscaping was great and we found a quick path to the pool. So we were assigned to probably the least desireable building in the place and it was just great. This is one of the nicest things about OKW -- it truly is hard to get a bad room. :)

We have stayed in #55 and #56 in SouthPoint and #35 and #41 in Turtle Pond area. All these were close to buses. #35 is literally right across from the bus stop and there is water out back, very nice. Ask them to show you the map when you check in. It is nice to be close to the bus stop at the end of a long day. Have fun!

Hi!

We've stayed at #37, #42, and #26 on our last trip May, 2003. We loved all of them, but #26 was the best to us because the bus stop was right there. We also found that if we missed our desired bus we'd see it go by again & turn down the road with buildings 63-22 (I forgot the name of that road). We'd hustle it up to the Hospitality House to catch it. A little later in the week we just started heading right to the Hospitality House to catch all of our buses (this is the last pick-up before heading out).

I know we've all been in the situation of, "Shoot....that was our bus!" LOL and have to wait 10-15 minutes for the next one. This time we never had to worry about that!! :)

We're staying at OKW 10/23-10/30 and we will put in a request for a villa close to the Hospitality House on 3rd floor (I love looking at the view from our balcony & not have to worry about noise from above).

How is the area around the main pool? Is this a good location? I will be staying in a 1BR next July with DW and 3 kids (9,7,2). How noisy does this area get? Is there anything else in this area beside the main pool? Thanks.

Swimming will pretty much be out of the question the last week of Jan , so I would make sure you are near a bus stop with the little ones, also you might consider being near the HH which would include being close to bus stop, don't forget non-smoking.I would request--non-smoking, near a bus stop and let the rest just fall in place. There are 5 bus stops at OKW, no one is that far away but with the little legs you should want to get one close.

We like the Southpoint area, but it is not a close walk to the main area(with gift shop,Olivia's etc) from there. It's a doable walk if you're a walker, but it's not a hop, skip, & jump! At South point, you are close to the start of the walking path to Downtown Disney.

Turtle Pond area is also nice, and a little closer to the main area.

Somewhere on this website is a map of OKW. Take a look at it, decide what is important to you as far as near a pool, near a bus stop, near the main area(AKA Hospitality House or HH). They are starting a main pool renovation at OKW in September I think, so keep that in mind too.

we recently stayed in the #46 building - it was great. It was quiet and only 2 min walk (with 4 yr old) to the quiet pool with nice sandy playground area and down the block from a bus stop. But it was the great view of the lagoon and the boat gliding by at night all sparkly on the water that was great when our little one was asleep. You could walk to the main area for snacks and such if you like walking. It is a comfortable walk if you enjoy such things. If not - stay closer.
