OKW building request???

Hello

If anyone has stayed at OKW could you please advise which is the best location / building for pools / transport we are staying in a Studio?

We are thinking about staying beside the Lighthouse so we can use the water taxi (is this right location for the water taxi)?

There are no rooms by the lighthouse but there are some across the street. If you want to be near there, you need to request Hospitality House which is a booking category (and guaranteed if available at time of booking) and must book it when making ressie. Those rooms tend to go fast but you could also ask for buildings 27-29, 62-64 and are not guaranteed, just requests. Although none of the room are more than a 10 minute walk from the boats.

The boats only go to DTD area, not to any parks.

While we are discussing lock-offs, I have a question. We almost never care if we get a lock-off or dedicated so this question has never come up with us.

Is a dedicated or lock-off request guaranteed? The reason I ask is that we requested a lock-off for our April trip because we have a 2bdrm for 9 nights and then a studio for the last. We leave early in the morning and it is just 4 of us by then so no sense in using lots of points for a 2bdrm on a Friday night. We are hoping we don't have to move, just shuffle everything over into the studio side on Friday morning. I know it may not work out that way, but we are hoping. It does say 2bdrm lock-off on our ressie so wondering if it is guaranteed or request?

Yes, you do specifically book a lock off 2 bedroom. They usually book you in a dedicated unless it's not available when you book. If it's not available, they will tell you if you are being booked in a lock off. I have specifically booked lock offs a couple of times to do just as you are saying, and it has worked great. OKW check in CM's are very good at blocking your room for you so you don't have to move.

We're OKW owners with Disney Vacation Club and always stay there. We haven't had a bad room yet and have stayed all over the property!

If anyone on this thread needs Disney points for OKW, we have 401 points that expire 5/31/2011 and we're selling them for a really great price (something has come up this year and we're now unable to go :( ). Just PM me.

Thank Diane. That's what I thought, but I don't think we have ever asked for a lock-off before. I know we've stayed in one and it was a pain with the kids and the doors, but now they are older and I don't care so much. I'd rather not have to move for one night, but no big deal if it happens.
