Hi all,

My 7 month window opened up today so I put a call in to MS and booked at OWK for the first time!!!!!

I visited OKW in January to make sure it was a good fit for us, needless to say, we loved it!!!

Anyway, here's my question. Has anyone had any luck requesting a particular building ??? I think we would love being in building 45, 46, or 55. I have always made requests when making my ressie but never for a particular building. Any thoughts???

Adding to my original question:
For those of you who have stayed in or are familiar with bldg. 45,46,or 55 is the view from the first floor units obstructed?

When we tried, we did not get our building request, but we were very happy with building 41. The pool and playground right there were perfect. The Parkway was just on the other side of the screening foliage, but the foliage was so well done, we didn't mind the view at all.

I've never had great luck requesting a specific building. I LOVE buildings 45 and 46 though! Nothing obstructed much from the beautiful 1 and 2 bedroom balconies there, but there are some obstructed views from 55.

For our January, 2011 trip, I had requested either building 47 or 48 on the first floor as my DW uses a scoter. I used on-line check-in for the first time as well. We arrived about noon and not only did we get Bldg 47 (4716) but the room was ready.

Now, we were also celebrating the safe return of our Marine Sgt SIL from Afghanistan, so perhaps that had a bearing. The CWs had a wonderful Patriotic Mickey print in the room with over 30 signatures and best wishes!

We're going again in March and I have requested the same buildings and will use on-line check-in. We'll see if it works again :)

Thanks to all who have responded. I would love to see a few pictures of the veiws from the balconies of blgd 45, 46 & 55 if anyone has any or knows where to find them. I will be checking in around 10am, i'm hoping the early check-in will help with the room assignment.

We just got back last week from a stay in bldg 45, 2nd floor. Im not sure if I have still photos from the balcony. I will look for them, but I do have video. If I can figure out how to post it, Ill put it up.

OK I uploaded to youtube. Excuse the family mess. Not the best video as I was taking with my little camera.

It wont let me hyperlink as my post count is under 10. Hopefully it works copied and pasted.

It worked perfectly, I really appreciate you taking the time to post it!!!! The view is exactly what we are looking for and it seems like it would be a quite location. Do the boats pass through there?

Yes, the boats go by, but they are do not produce much noise. The ferry is super quiet, and the water sprites have governors on them to keep them at a low speed. The fastest ones are the patrol boats.

We're checking in this Thursday. Is it too late to request a specific building and should I call to make a request or can I request it when doing the online check in? What's a good building to request if we want to be close to the main pool? Thanks for your help! It's been 3 years since we've been to WDW so we're so excited!

We very rarely get our building requests, but we are not that picky. Only one section we don't (refuse) to stay in.

We have stayed in #45 - studio second floor. Crappy view of trees. It was an end unit opposite bld 46.

Interesting. For those who have been successful, did you request a certain building when you made the reservation or at check-in?

No requests by phone or fax are allowed or taken, but you can see if you have a chance at check in. There are 4 pools at OKW, so you are never far from any of them. We prefer NOT to use the main pool much, because of the crowding and noise there. Our favorite neighborhood pools are Miller's Road and South Point. Unfortunately, the South Point hot tub is often out of order. Not sure why that is, but it has happened a lot to us there.

We have always made our requests through MS when making our ressies. If we haven't gotten our requests we just make sure we are not in the one area we don't like to be in. Only been assigned there once and then we asked to be moved immediately (while still at check-in). No problem being moved and ended up in building 23 a HH category.

We too always make our requests through MS when we reserve. I did have luck last month getting our GV assignment changed before we went to the room as well. One of our guests checked in before us, but didn't go to the room until we arrived. When I saw that the unit we were assigned to was FAR from where we requested, I went to the desk and politely asked if it was possible to change. The check in person was very helpful and got us our preferred building right away. The drawback was that it wasn't yet ready, so we went to have something to drink and sit down for a bit. We hardly got sat down when we got the text that our room was ready!:thumbsup2

I've been trying to search for the answer to the next question but I cant seem to find it. I reserved a dedicated 2 BR, I had originally intended on booking a lock off figuring you would get two balconies that way, one in the studio and one in the one bedroom but the member services rep said that is not always the case. ???? is the 2 BR balcony any larger than the 1 BR, I would assume not right? So if we wanted more balcony space should we change the ressie to2 BR lockoff?

I'm not quite following you. The balconies in the 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units at OKW are all about the same size, and are accessible from both the living room and the master bedroom area. The only difference between lock off and dedicated is that the lock off will also have a small square balcony off the 2nd bedroom.

Bear in mind that while all balconies at OKW are similar size (large enough for a table and 4 chairs plus plenty of extra space), some will be slightly different shapes. Some are more rectangular, and some are like half a hexagon.

My apologies for the poor explanation. Bottom line was that MS said not all 2 br lock offs will have 2 balconies which I thought was odd. Thanks for responding :)

ALL 2 bedroom lock offs at OKW do have 2 balconies, but not necessarily at the other resorts.

While we are discussing lock-offs, I have a question. We almost never care if we get a lock-off or dedicated so this question has never come up with us.

Is a dedicated or lock-off request guaranteed? The reason I ask is that we requested a lock-off for our April trip because we have a 2bdrm for 9 nights and then a studio for the last. We leave early in the morning and it is just 4 of us by then so no sense in using lots of points for a 2bdrm on a Friday night. We are hoping we don't have to move, just shuffle everything over into the studio side on Friday morning. I know it may not work out that way, but we are hoping. It does say 2bdrm lock-off on our ressie so wondering if it is guaranteed or request?
