Can someone please recommend what building or section we should stay in while visiting at OKW? Something with great views and proximity would be nice.

Scott

Sure! I reccomend SouthPoint, Turtle Pond and Miller's Road. You can even get good views at the buildings near Hospitality House too. You need to be a bit more specific about what YOU think is a good view. Most views at OKW are golf course, woods and water. The Miller's Road buildings have great golf course and water views, South Point has great water and woods views, and Turtle pond has great golf and water views. Many of the Hospitality House area buildings have woods and golf views. What I'm trying to say, is there are not many bad views at OKW, so take your chances and enjoy! :thumbsup2

I second Diane. All views are great. You might get a few seasonal views that are a little more blocked than others with greenery/trees/shrubs. Every location has a bus stop and pool. And it isn't a long walk over to the hospitality house area.

if you are staying in a 1 or 2 bedroom - all the views are pretty great.

a studio - I would try to avoid the first floor. the patio will be overgrowth with shurbs (for privacy) or will be near the air conditioner units or will be a handicapped unit.

I like a water view - so my request generally says non-smoking, water view, second floor or higher. (kept in mind that most building do NOT have elevators)

you can also ask to be near the bus stop, pool or HH.

We stayed in a studio in building 63 in Jan. and really liked that location. It was such a short walk to the Hospitality House, bus stop and the pool.
Have a great time!

My wife and I will be staying in a studio for a weekend getaway in August. I was hoping for a room that had a great view of the water and downtown Disney if there is such a view. Something close to a bar, pool, or any other central location would be a plus! Ideas?

There are many OKW villas with nice water views. None have any view of DD (only SSR has that view). Buildings 53-56 are closest to DD and there is a walkway from that area to DD and SSR. (It's about a 15 minute walk to Cirque from Building 55.)

Buildings 11-14, 62-64 and 15,16 are closest to the Hospitality House area where the pool, snack bar, marina and Olivia's is located. There is also a snack bar found at the pool area in the Old Turtle Pond section at OKW- buildings 40-44 are closest there.

I wouldn't be too specific when making any requests- just ask for a villa with a water view and see what you get. If you request a specific building or villa, there is too much opportunity for disappointment if it is not available when you arrive.

Enjoy!

Is there a "Marina view"?

There are a few villas where you can see the marina from the balcony, but I would not call them marina views- none are directly in front of the marina. Building 23 (the villas on the right end as you park) will have the best look at the marina and Buidlings 17 and 18 will have a glimpse of the marina, across the golf course and pond (about 200 yards away).

I would not suggest requesting a "marina" view. ;) I would categorize the available views as water, woods or gold course. Some villas have all three, some have two and some have one. All are great, IMO. :)

To the OP....
Sounds like you'd prefer to be close to the main hub of the resort, so perhaps you should request "close to HH" and maybe "water view" as well ? We got building 62 once and it was great. This was our view :

We were about 30 seconds from the mail pool, Olivia's, gift shop etc......

we like buildings 11-14. Walk to main pool and golf course/woods view....but you really can't go wrong anywhere in Old Key West
