OKW: A changed perspective

The Internal Bus/DD bus stops at the HH first AND last. Otherwise we just walk to the bus stop behind the HH and catch a bus there unless we're in the Millers Rd area.

I understand and have explained it to DH.

He/I am always impressed with how questions get answered so quickly. Thank you.

I am curious to stay at one of the 1BR units... I know I would have enjoyed the jaccuzi some nights (especially when we went to all 4 parks in one day, with 2 trips to Epcot!)... I'll just have to make sure and have a car!
Sounds like you had a good trip! I can't wait to read more of your trip report.

Ice and vending machines are located at the quiet pools. At OKW, to me location is everything. If you get a room near the HH, or near any quiet pool or bus stop you truly do not need a car. Get one of the isolated locations that are between everything and yes a car is needed.

SSR to me while large is more organized in that you have buildings close to pools, vending and ice in each building, etc. Also you are not far from any bus stop at SSR and the internal bus will drop you off at the main areas.

OKW due to its meandering type layout, which is beautiful takes much longer for the buses to navigate from stop to stop than at SSR which is basically a square in relation to the buses.

If you stay at OKW again pick one of the buildings to the right of the Hospitality House. The advantage of being in that area, even just over the bridge is that you are near the first and the last bus stop. So you walk over to the HH to catch a bus to the parks and you get off at the first stop coming back.

The downside is that if you are over the bridge its a fair walk to the pool. The one time I stayed there I supposedly had a water view. I never did figure out where the water was. For me OKW will be the place I go when I need to have two beds or a roomy one bedroom. Some day I do want to stay in a one bedroom with a water view. I'll pick a slow season to make sure I get it.

If you're looking for a quiet area try building #55, but keep in mind it's at the end of the resort so it's quite a walk to HH. We had 8 of us in a 2 bdrm in 2003.

We seem to like the location and layout of SSR better. DTD is so easy to get to.

Bobbiwoz asks : What I don't understand is that if the busses that go through the resort then stop at HH on the way "out" how do you get back to your villa? Do you then HAVE to walk back?

Dean says :The Internal Bus/DD bus stops at the HH first AND last. Otherwise we just walk to the bus stop behind the HH and catch a bus there unless we're in the Millers Rd area.
We usually walk as well, but I would guess one could walk over to the Penninsular Rd bus stop (it's not far at all from the main pool) and get on any bus coming back into the resort (on the way back from the parks) and hop on that ? We've never actually done this, but it would seem like an option ? We rarely use our car at OKW ----mostly just for offsite shopping and resort dining etc---it pretty much just sits there parked for the week.

When points grow on trees, I would agree whole-heartedly. But since they don't, I understand why folks would choose to manage their points a bit more frugally. The beauty of DVC is the ability to squander or squeeze your own points as you see fit.

Technically most points do grow on trees.......

What is the number one item needed to get (more) points?

Okay, after your Spouse's or Significan't Other's permision?

Why Money, (a.k.a. Moola, cash, greenbacks, etc.)!

What is most US money made of?

PAPER

Thus you trade Paper (Cash or Check) for points right?

And where does the majority of our paper come from?

Hint, sadly, NOT recycling, but TREES!

Expo Facto, E Pluribus Unum, Cinco De Mayo, Points do grow on trees.

Now if I can only get the DVC to accept payment in Toilet Tissue!

I'm definitely getting a 1BR if you can talk DVC into that, Tony. Heck, I may just splurge and make it a 2BR.
