We just bought into the OKW - how many 3 BDRM Grand Villa's are there and does anyone know if they are hard to get?:thumbsup2

OKW has 27 GVs. If you plan to reserve 11 months ahead at your home resort, there is usually good availability.

Here is a link to a description of the OKW Building configuration.

Welcome Home ! :)

THANK YOU!!!! I am so excited and anxious to book our vacation but have another few weeks to wait for things to finalize. It looks so magical that we want the 3 BDRM as our welcome home. It looks like they have a lot. I sure hope one is available when we book in a few weeks. :dance3:

Is the weather in FL nice in January - does anyone know? :goodvibes

We were there for NYE a couple a years ago and we had every temperature you could imagine. One day we were walking around in shorts and next we had our winter coats, hats, gloves on and they were covering all the plants to protect them from the frost. Don't plan on going to the water parks. Even though the water is heated the air is to cool to be going in and out of the water.

We have been to WDW in January many times, and the weather can be a real buffet! We have had an occational 90 and an occational 32 and just about everything inbetween! The good thing is that it rarely rains in January.

We've been in January where we went to the water parks every day and got sunburns (80+ degrees) and we were there when we needed coats, hats, gloves to just keep warm (40's). Early Jan can be hard to get, also around MLK weekend (week). I hope you can still get that GV for your Jan trip.

We go in January a lot, one of our favorite times to go.

The one main thing to understand is that the temperature cools down considerably once the sun sets. I always chuckle at seeing 'newbies' go to the parks in shorts and T-shirts because the temperature is going to be in the mid 70's, and then find themselves leaving early (at 6:00 pm or so) because the sun went down and the 'real' temperature starts to show, not the inflated temperature they got because of solar warming during the day.

We ususally take light jackets and just put them into a locker during the day, and then get them out when it tends to cool off.

Just be sure to check the weather reports and don't just look at the 'highs' but also plan for the 'lows'.

January is still the dead of winter. DST is not in effect, and the sun sets early. A drop of 20 or even 30 degrees between 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm would not be an overstatement.

If you are a Northerner, you need to know that a windy 60 degrees in Florida with no sun, means REAL winter weather, and will feel as cold to you as any winter day back home, so be very sure to bring your winter coats. Believe me, wearing a sweatshirt under the winter coat when you stay for Illuminations will be helpful too. You just have no idea how cold Florida feels sometimes in the evening, when it was perfectly comfortable during the day!;)

:confused3 :rotfl:  :rotfl2:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I have to disagree with this statement unless a Northerner means Georgia. We were there in Feb and one day it was high in low 60's and lows in the 30's no sun and windy. No way was that anywhere close to any winter day back home. I was loving it better than any winter day back home. Had shorts and fall jacket on and was just fine and we actually said not ideal weather but beats being back home :cool1: We also had a good laugh when watching the news and all the whining going on about how cold it was going to be - I believe it was coldest day of the winter so far in Florida this year.

Being that you are from MI I think you must have forgot how cold 20 below zero is with no sun and 50 below windchill feels while looking out at the 50 plus inches of snow on the ground :sad2:

It's just in the south the air is much more humid than in the north. So that "wet cold" just feels colder to lots of people. I remember those 10% humidity in Montana in the winter. It just doesn't get that low in Louisiana.

Thanks for all the advice. I am a true northerner - I live in lake snow country and we get buried and we get cold!!! I understand the concept of wet cold with the humid air - that would make you feel damp and then the wind would feel cold. So, chances of short weather and sun every day in January sounds unrealistic - that is what I wanted to know :) We are hoping for a winter break :) Thanks to all of you!

Is it true that early Janaury there are not as many parades and character meet and greets?
