DH and I have a 1BR booked at OKW the week before Easter (teacher--it sucks, but that's when I can go until I retire). My daughter has been talking about coming with my 2 grandsons, 4 and 1.5 years. That would work; she can sleep on the couch with the baby and my older grandson could sleep on the sleep chair.
Now my son-in-law, who is a Marine, may be able to go. Obviously, even at OKW that makes it more, ahem, cozy. We would have to get a porta crib for the baby.
I THINK I have enough points for a 2 BR. I have 210 available on 8/01/21, so I can borrow 105, and I need 75.
Should I go ahead and upgrade in the chance that he can make it? Or is that a smart thing to do anyway so we would have 2 bathrooms? Unfortunately he is at the whims of the government so even if he thinks he is able to go in January, it could change by the end of March.

I think I am going to go for the 2BR as soon as I am sure they are going! So excited! We have never stayed at OKW so I am really looking forward to it. We did have a BLT 1 BR with my daughter and my oldest grandson 2 years ago, and the bathroom did help, but with another child I think we need to go bigger.

You might want to request a ground floor, as I assume you will have a stroller or 2 and ask to be in building 30 or higher so you will have the 2nd entrance to the master bath through the laundry room.

This is why we bought DVC - we wanted to stay in a 2-bedroom villa every time, and we are only a family of 5. The extra space, for us, really makes the vacation feel like a vacation! We also save a ton and cook/eat in the room often. We own at OKW - go for the 2-bedroom!

Yes, go for the two bedroom if possible, we've stayed in both with our clan, four kids and seven grandkids at different times with different multiples of course, and there were many times in the one bedroom when we have said "should have went bigger".

We've stayed in the two bedroom but also had a one bedroom with a studio lock-off, giving us 4 queen beds, and the sofa bed and chair bed, as well as two bathrooms.

I also recommend the 2 bedroom, even if your son-in-law can't come. All the 1 bedrooms at OKW are lock off units - that increases the "neighbor noise " potential for both sides of the connecting door. Two bathrooms and a large kitchen & living room that doesn't have to be someone's bedroom will really make the vacation more comfortable!

How did you get 4 queen beds in a two bedroom lock-off? Lock-off and regular two bedrooms have the same sleeping configuration at OKW...a King bed in the master, 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom or studio, and the queen sleeper sofa and single sleeper chair in the living room.

Two bedroom, no question! Especially after 2021...go on vacation and enjoy!

Sorry I must have been mistaken. I was in the lock off studio and my sister and nephew were in the one bed but when another family member arrived she went into my nephew's room and they don't normally share a bed so I just assumed. My bad.

Even the OKW grand Villa has one king, 2 queen, 2 full and a sleeper sofa. I think it’s the only GV without 4 queen beds. They could have fit them. It would be a little tight, but they could fit.

So I have booked near HH now, and that is not available if I change to a 2 BR. What is a good location near a bus stop and a pool? I have already told my grandson about the sand castle pool so we may just hop on the internal bus to HH when we swim. And if it is building 30 or higher (elevator) that is a bonus. I am completely ignorant of this resort!!

I personally like the Old Turtle Pond area, specifically building 30 to 35, they are near the bus stop and close enough to the pool, but you don't get pool noise. Building 35, IMO, is the best of those. If you want a canal view, buildings 45 or 46 are a good option. Here is a resort map:
