Okay,
We have always wanted to stay at the poly, and we usually ended up somewhere else because the rates were always better.
We got a great AP rate during Labor Day weekend. Even though WL was $100 less, we have been there before.

I requested, Fiji, Tokelau or Samoa (But really will be happy anwhere) and we requested either first or 3rd floor.

I was also able to book Ohana and Concourse Steakhouse for Dinner. We wanted Kona Cafe and 1900 Park Fare, but they were sold out. There are 5 of us and they could have split us up, but I wouldn't do that to my kids.

Does anyone see any concerns with our requested location, or have a suggestion.

I just booked the Polynesian with an AP rate for August. I requested 3rd fl. room in Tahiti with a Lagoon view. Have reservations for Kona Cafe for dinner the day I arrive. but was unable to score one for Ohana.

I'm jealous!!! I love the Poly! I like Tahiti, too! I request 1st floor....it's great to sneak out and watch fireworks while the kids are sleeping!

The AP rate for teh Poly is $249.00 . The WL was $130.00.

The WL is cheaper than I paid for Port Orleans last Christmas, but since we have been there, we want to do something new. We only live 20 minutes away, but have always wanted to stay at the Poly every time we pass it on the Monorail on the way back to the car.

I'm planning a surprise trip to WDW for our 32nd anniversary. I was planning on going to WL (trying out a new resort) but when the AP rates came out AND Poly was available, I went for it. It is my DH (and my dad's) favorite resort. My DH knows the dates, he knows we're going on a plane, I may have to spill the WDW part soon if only to get sleep at night...BUT I'm not spilling the Poly part until the DME rolls up to the resort<G>

We just checked into the Polynesian. The place was very quiet. There were no guests at the check in desk, so I just walked up and started the process.

Our room wasn't ready, but we did get 1st floor Tokelau, which is one of our requests. I made the resrvation online and noted it there, and that is all I did. I was really nervous about not faxing, but it worked out.

So far everyone seems very friendly, "Aloha" from almost everyone I passed that worked there.

Also, something new is that the guard gave the parking pass out this time, not the registration desk. That has never happened to me before, so I don't know if it is new or just new to me.

I'll report back on how the room is once we get into it.

We are staying at the Poly for the 1st time in Dec., can't wait to hear more!

thanks for posting about the POLY and keep us updated pretty please!

have an awesome trip! great rate! I had no idea the AP rate was so discounted. . .hhmm more reason to think about return trips and AP's!

It's been that way for a least a year or so. I know I got my parking pass last September from the guard shack. I have always been able to get another one at check in if we have two cars. I actually like it that way because it saves making another trip back to the car to put the parking pass in the windshield, after you've unloaded and checked in.

George- just read your post that you'd arrived. Hope you have a wonderful stay at the Poly. We also live nearby and about 6 years ago splurged on a few nights there- it was certainly magical and lived up to our "hype" about staying there. We loved taking the boat back from the parks- it wound down all the energy the kids had leftover from being at the MK. A sense of peace and relaxation ( which is what I'm looking for on a vacation) spread over me the minute we started to head back...ahhh...---Kathy

George, FYI -- Disney Dining will often offer to "split you up" just to get you IN THE DOOR... In fact in all the times I have done this to get my group in "last minute," we have NEVER been seated separately... You just check in early, politely tell them you are two groups but would like to wait to be seated TOGETHER, and they will do all they can to seat you at one table. It seems to matter more that they get an accurate body count than the actual breakdown of tables (that is my guess anyway). My husband and I have of course joked that no hostess in their right mind would want to seat the kids alone together to cause havoc!

I make my PSs early but often my sister will want in "last minute" or we try to add an extra restaurant and this splitting has often helped us get in where we otherwise might not. Also, we have never had to wait particularly long. Just tell them what is up when you check in and they'll handle it! Hope this helps you.

PS: Enjoy the Poly it's HEAVENLY!

I think you did really well. The swell thing about the Polynesian is the view of Magic Kingdom and the Electric Water Parade.

In front of Tahiti is a beach that a lot of folks don't visit as often and it's really nice.

Don't miss the Torch Lighting Ceremony on weekends at 6:00 p.m.

Have a great trip!:

Hey everyone,
We just got home. I had intended on updating regulary from the Poly, but in my rush to get back out there after we found our room number out, I forgot my laptop, so I was without it, which really was good, since I couldn't check any work email as well.

I will update again tomorrow when I have more time, we just got home and have to unpack and get everything ready for school and work tomorrow.

But overall, a very nice trip. There is nothing to worry about with the Poly. We did have a couple small glitches, but were mostly resolved, and I will explain those tomorrow as well (But not with the Polynesian itself)

the dme bus you get on is based on the resort you're staying at, so you have to tell the check-in people where you're staying. Then the cm usually asks us when we're getting in our line to make sure we're in the proper line for the proper bus. Then the bus driver may ask 'who's staying at ___?". just wanted to let you know all that in case you didn't.
