Can you just tell the guard at an "on the list" pool hopping resort that thats what your there to do? Or are you expected to take internal transportation?

They can turn you away if there are parking concerns. I'd expect that at Boardwalk, for instance, many seasons. But no one is going to ask or care if you're just trying to hop to POR or CBR.

What do you think about Grand Floridian? Their parking lot is so inconvenient though that it might be easier to take the monorail from where we’ll be (BLT) or to walk to the MK and take the boat to GF if we want to check out that pool. Normally I feel like pool hopping is more of a hassle than it’s worth, but since we’re so close, we might check it out one afternoon.

I would say maybe they'd turn you away. GF has the "monorail resort lure" parking issue.
