OKAY, Tell me to take a chill pill!!

I really think I am stressing over my trip WAAAY to much. Here goes, tell me what you think. First of all we are going to be at All Star Movies from July 3-6. We are arriving on the 3rd, so we only have time for 2 parks. Therefore, I am stressing over which two to pick. At this point it is of course MK and Epcot, but I really want to go to MGM, but only for TOT and RnR. I am also freaking over it being the 4th of July, but this is the only time my husband can get off work. Then I am also stressing over getting there. We are driving which from where I live will be about 12 hours. My car has 95,000 miles on it, it is still a good car and never had any trouble, but in my head I think "Man when it flips 100,000, I will be stuck on the side of the road in Florida. Anyway, I can't even enjoy getting ready for the trip for stressing over the trip. We are also going to be at RPR at Universal for 2 nights, but everything has went well there. Thanks for any help.

Bring your car in to the service department at the dealership--tell them you're getting ready to go on a long trip, and you want them to check out the belts, hoses, etc. to make sure it is trip worthy. It will be worth the price in peace of mind!

Also, relax and know that whatever two parks you pick, you and your family will have a wonderful time. Expect long lines during the holiday, but grab your cold drinks and make good use of FastPasses and you will be fine. There is so much to see and do, you don't need to be on rides all the time.

I stress over a lot less than that, so you are well deserving! What type of passes do you have? If you have any multi-day hoppers, couldn't you do the few things you are interested in at MGM, then hop over to Epcot for the rides you want to hit there and the fireworks? Can you get there early on the 3rd? Maybe, if MGM is open late, you can hit RNR, etc then. Also, check which EE and Enights are available while you are there. You will get a lot more accomplished utilizing those. If you have been to WDW a lot already, you pretty much know what you want to see and do, and what you can leave for next time. If this is your first time at WDW, and you have kids, you may wish to change your trip to be only WDW, so you can relax and not go commando in the parks, which will be busy. With regard to your car, do you have AAA? Membership is about 65. and may give you a small WDW room discount (offsets the price a bit). If you can get a good deal on a rental car that you are able to drive out of state, you might want to consider that. All other things aside, you are going to WDW! As my DH would say, "Enhance your calm".

I agree with the above poster that a check-up for your car is a good idea, just for peace mind. We did that with our 1993 Ford Escort Stationwagon (110,000 miles) right before we did the 17 hour trip from our town this past Easter. It went fine---the car didn't even hiccup! I've heard highway driving is less stressful on a car than all the stops and starts of town and city driving, anyway. You might want to consider getting AAA (or something similar) just in case. That can be helpful for peace of mind, too. My insurance has roadside assistance for a couple dollars extra, so that might be an option with yours as well.
As for the parks, just try and hit them early before the heat and crowds build. And if you can't do some things, just tell yourself you'll be back (you will, won't you? )
Think of it as an adventure!

My Mazda had 177,000 miles on it when the next owner bought it, now a days you will be fine over 100,000 even in an American car. Even my Fix Or Repair Daily Tempo lasted 104,000!! That was a 1987!

I love Disney, but I'd be kicking and screaming before I'd go to MK on July 4th again. You do realize that on July 4th it is so crowded that there is typically ANOTHER exit (behind Space Mtn.) made available for guest so that they can leave the park via the mass exodus at the end of the day.

I'd rather wear a red hoochie-mama shirt on Gay Day while standing in line to ride Dumbo over and over than participate in another July 4th.

Why not plan to go to MGM on one of its early morning openings. Both TOT and RNR are open and you could get them done and then go to EPCOT. You can either take the boat from MGM to EPCOT or pick up a bus at the front of the park. If you take the boat, you will enter EPCOT at the International Gateway which is between England and France. If you plan it right, you can enter here at 11:00 and have all of World Showcase to yourselves. Most park visitors are still in Future World at this time and WS is virtually empty.

Actually, we will be in Epcot on July 4th and MK on July 5th. We were thinking about adding the MGM in on for the 3rd, if we got there in time.

Yea, I really dread MK anytime during that week. Ain't much you can do about though. When you got a 10 year old and a 6 year old, MK just ain't something you can miss.

What kind of passes are you using? If you are using park hopper passes, or UPH passes - you could go to MGM at opening, or for EMH on July 4th, grab a Fastpass for TOT, ride RNRC, use your Fastpass for TOT, then head out, grab the Friendship and ride over to Epcot!

At this point, we think it would be cheapest to buy single day tickets. But, we have considered getting a 4 day pass hopper and doing that. It would just cost a little more money, but we would have days left for another trip.

Unless, any of you know of where you can get a 2-3 park hopper ticket.

I'm right here in the stress boat with ya! I usually come up with our itinerary for the trip fairly easily but this year I've had a hard time with it. We aren't buying php this year either and we've also decided to only visit two parks. That's where all stress comes in, trying to decide on which two parks. I think we're going with Epcot and Universal Studios (we've never been to US so we're all excited about doing something new this year).

I've also considered skipping Disney parks and doing both days at US IOA. They are offering a five day pass to both parks for less than the price of two days. I just don't know if I can go to DW, stay on property, and not go to Disney parks though. UGH!! decisions decisions!! Good luck on whatever you decide!

I totally understand what you mean. If I did not have kids, I would only go to US and IOA. I love those two parks. I love the fact that you can stay in their hotels and pretty much hop onto a ride.

I just really dread waiting in line at MK or for that matter any Disney Park over the July 4th week. I really think they need to get some system like US and IOA has.
