Okay - surely there is ""something" you like about winter..

I LOVE winter :thumbsup2 Something about the thrill of knowing a big snowstorm is coming just makes me want to  I'm one of those freaks in the grocery store buying some comfort food right before so that I can just be home and cook.

My DD's with their Mini Z snowmobile cutting a fresh track in the snow.

Walking around the neighborhood shoveling out our eldery neighbors.

Having those beat red cheeks and runny noses from the cold weather.

Christmas!

I'm STILL waiting for the "big" storm to hit Christmas Eve and continue through Christmas. I can't think of anything better than that!

I still like the winter It's only 3 months of cold, snowy weather and sometimes it's not even that much.
I love a big snowfall, being outside and watching it from indoors
Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. I know I'm crazy but I loved seeing the Christmas stuff out in Kohls last week!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, shoveling snow is an AWESOME calorie burner! We own a snowblower but I strongly prefer to shovel by hand and reap the benefits. It's a great workout!

:thumbsup2 I even shovel my neighbors next door. We don't have alot of property, so it's a better workout with 2 houses. :rotfl:

Winter = snow, lots of it, sledding, hot chocolate, the fireplace going, ice skating, christmas, snowball fights, building snow forts, watching the kids play in the snow, watching the dogs play in the snow, christmas music, christmas lights, big snowstorms when we get to stay in our jammies all day:thumbsup2

I adore winter. I love sitting inside and watching the snow come down. I love not sweating and being disgusting within 10 seconds every time I set foot outside. I love the chill in the air. I love the holidays. I love looking at Christmas lights. I just love the festivity of everything!

Of course, given where I live now, a lot of what I love about winter won't happen for me, but it'll still be darn nice not to be hot all the time! And my neighbors really decorate for Christmas, so I'm excited to see how the neighborhood looks. Maybe I'll luck out and we'll get snow during the time I'm back in St. Louis for Christmas & I'll get a little taste of winter then. :goodvibes

I'm with you! Check out my countdown. Hopefully this will be my last year to see any snow.
Can I come with you?

Nope...nothing is coming to mind. Perhaps the end of it.
LOL - this made me laugh.

That's the major issue for me.........it's much longer than 3 months in my neck of the woods.

Weather will start getting cold in a few weeks here. It will probably snow either before or right after Halloween. We will still be getting cold, snowy, rainy weather through April & possibly into the beginning of May.

Last year on Mother's Day weekend it was so cold that we were wearing hats, gloves & boots outside. :sad2: That's why I hate winter. The calendar may say 3 months, but no one told Mother Nature when those 3 months should start & end.

I hate winter and was going to post as much. But then I killed about 30 stink bugs and realized....ok, at least a good hard freeze will wipe out these little #@$!@&*$.

I like winter. I like the snow (I have a service do my shoveling for me though!). I love cooking hearty winter foods like soups and stews and chowders...roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. The smell of mulled cider. The way that fresh snow makes everything look sparkling and clean.

I like dressing in layers and wearing my favorite sweaters and thick pants and heavy boots. The fact that it's dark most of the time doesn't really bother me, even though I have been known to show up to work in one blue shoe and one black shoe from time to time. I used to hate waiting on the platform for the commuter rail in the cold, but now I drive to a station where I can wait inside in a heated space.

The only things I really dislike about winter are black ice, and days when a bad storm hits when everyone is already at work, making the commute home miserable.

The thing is, I like what many refer to as "winter things". I like to bake pies, I like indoor winter smells & warm fires. I like snuggling under warm blankets, but I seriously despise the weather that winter brings.

I can do all those things at any time of the year without the snow & cold......even snuggling under the blanket with a warm fire. All I have to do is turn my AC down & go in my refinished basement. Turn on the fire & curl up in a blanket while eating a fresh baked pie.

I can then walk back upstairs, turn the AC up & step outside into my nice warm summer weather!

I would MUCH rather have snowy, cold, freezing weather then super humid, sticky, & hot!...ha

You most likely have never been to :sunny: Southern California ... we do not have humidity at all. Winter in SoCal is absolutely one of the most awesomest times of year. To get up in the morning and walk outside in the middle of December in 65 degree weather with the sun shining brightly and only need possibly a lite fleece is just so refreshing.

I grew up on the east coast ... I was home in August, that humidity you all have to deal with all summer long is horrific to say the least. :headache:

The sun shines here all of the time. You can make all the plans you want all year long and never have to worry about the weather interfering with those plans. No weathermen saying "big storm coming" and then that mad dash to the supermarket to get everything you will need only to wake up the day of the "big storm" and find out the weathermen got it all wrong. :headache:

No shoveling of driveways and walkways, no black ice, no wind, no sleet, no below freezing temps, no nor'easters, no scrapping of your windshield, no need for even the heat on in the winter.

All my family and friends fly here to SUN Diego between OCT and MARCH just to get away from those burr cold winters in the northeast!

AND the bestest part for MOI is DISNEYLAND is an hour away!!! :mickeyjum

Come on everybody, come to SoCal during the winter months and see just how lovely it really is here!! ::yes::

I like being able to wear my big comfy sweatshirts.

I like not being hot and sticky.

I like winter better than summer.

I do love a little snow as long as it's not on December 20, when I have to drive 6 hours round trip :scared1:
Otherwise-- bring it on all during December. Can't have a proper NY Christmas if there's no white blanket on the ground!
After New Year's-- I'm ready for 80 degree weather again!

The ONLY thing I like about winter is Christmas. I absolutely hate winter. And snow. And cold weather! :sad2: I don't even like autumn because that means winter will be here before too long.

This is exactly the way I feel. Fall is a decent season that's ruined by the feeling of impending doom that is winter. I grew up in the north, so I understand winter. I'm starting to think part of it is where we live. There really aren't winter sports. Just a few snowstorms a year that give me major cabin fever. At least if we lived way up north, we'd all ski and iceskate.

There is nothing about winter that I don't like.

I love going to the beach, basking in the warmth of the not so scorching hot days. Seeing the new tourists that come down to our island.

I cannot stand winter. As a matter of fact for Christmas, I would rather have a tropical Christmas-which I haven't done yet-then have it be cold.

I can handle heat and humidity, but it takes me forever to warm up in winter.

Snow, forget about it. I live in Southeastern part of Va and we had our version of snow last winter and it was nice as long as you can stay in, but a couple days of looking at it and it was just annoying.

I'll admit that I love a big ol snowstorm/blizzard. Just one per year though. I may experience fewer now that I just bought a house in Florida though.

I love winter. I don't like ice storms and I miss my flowers and hummingbirds, but I love cold weather. I'm so ready to need to bundle up before going outside, and to throw extra quilts on the beds, and build a fire in the fireplace.
