I know they are some kind of footwear, but what makes them so great? I'm a Birks girl. What is the difference between them?

Kim

I personally love my crocs, more comfortable to me than my Birkenstock's. They are similar to Birkenstock's but just made of different material. Go to crocs.com to check out what they look like.

 They are funky rubber type shoes. check out the crocs website. they come in bright colors. CindyML

I have wide feet and have always had a problem finding comfortable shoes to wear when at Disney. I usually end up with very sore blistered feet during each trip! :sad2:

I looked at all the responses on the boards about Crocs and how comfy they were even after doing all that walking and I had to find out for myself. This past weekend I went to our local mall after seeing they had a store that carried them to see what all the fuss was about, and I must say they were right!

I wore them out of the store and walked around for awhile to test them out and I haven't stopped wearing them since! They are very comfortable and I don't feel any "hot spots" on any part of my foot for the first time!!!

I will be going back to get another pair (or two) before our trip next month. (yes, it is true that you do have to get used to the idea of wearing a shoe that feels like it's a little too big, but that's what they're supposed to be...check out their website at crocs.com to see for yourself).

The payless ones are a little different than the CROCS - something about the material they are made from. There was a recent thread about the difference between the PayLess and the CROCS. You can search for that thread to see what people posted about the difference. I only have the CROCS. I am not sure if the PayLess ones have the strap you can wear around the back or up on top of the shoe. my CROCS and my next pair will be HOT PINK!! CindyML

I used to wear my birkenstocks all the time...now I'm a Crocs convert. So comfortable and bouncy...they make you feel like Tigger! :Pinkbounc

I still like the birki's better. Crocs make my feet sweat. The rubber is just not my favorite feel. I think they are great for beaches and water sports. They are very lightweight so your feet don't wear out!

Here is the Beach style, which seems to be the most popular...

I've seen knock-offs at Payless, Walmart, and recently at Walgreens, but after trying them on in the store, they don't even compare for comfort like the CROCS.

We leave on Tuesday, so I got my Crocs last night. I've had them on all day and love them! It is only 46 degrees here, so I have my socks on with them, and they keep my feet really warm for some reason. It is not a yucky hot feeling, just cozy warm.

Even Iron Chef (and Rutgers alum) Mario Batali is a Crocs fan. He wears the day-glo orange ones on the show. :)

Do a search on Crocs on these boards, you should find many long threads which carry lots of good information. Ugly shoes, very comfortable for most people, not the cure-all they are touted to be by some, but still mostly worth the money for kick-around garden/beach/water/boat/fun shoes. Did I say ugly, too?

crocs are amazing! I have weird feet.. and they always hurt.. but NOT ANY MORE!!

Even my feet with the very high instep can fit into these shoes.. they are amazing.

My devotion to these shoes mean I have the following (something for every occasion!)

2 x black, 1 x light blue, coral pink, purple, pearl, lime green, fucshia pink, (all beach model) And two pairs of highland (the enclosed version !)

I kind of like them ;)

They are wonderful. Haven't had foot or back problems in the 8 months I've been wearing them and before that it was chronic.

Oh yes, and a girl at work brought me an ad out of her fashion magazines. She says we Crocs lovers have arrived, we are now fashionable! The ads are funny and say "Ugly can be beautiful" and have various 'ugly' pictures in them. :cool1:

Just a side note:
I don't own a pair (yet), but I tried them on a few times in stores to make sure I knew what size to get. I have wide feet and usually wear birks. Anyway, the crocs were a good fit, but I ordered the "nile" style from the website. They are not anywhere close to being the same size/fit as the normal "beach" style you see everywhere! My feet barely went in them - they are much narrower and I think even a little shorter. So just be aware of that if you try a different style! They aren't all made for us wide-footed people! :sunny:

I went to the website and did not see the answer. Do you wear socks with them? I see one person wore socks because the weather was cool. But in warm weather, are they meant to wear socks with? or without?

Thanks!

They are designed to be worn without socks in warm weather, hence the waterproof material they are made from. I learned about Crocs here first and bought two pairs on-line - I love mine and wore them for 9 days, everyday, during my August trip to WDW. When they get wet inside, your feet kind of squeak until you can dry the shoes but not a big deal. I can honestly say that I had no blisters, or sore feet or calves on that trip despite all the walking. I would not settle for a knock-off.

Also, they are nice enough to wear to work (I work in education) I have received many compliments on mine and nearly as many questions on where to buy them. They appear in some odd places -- a seashell shop in Rehoboth Beach, DE -- I wanted the lime green ones but they did not have my size.
