We do Secret Santa at work. Fun, whatever...we all write down what we want. We just put gift certificates usually. So I put down my top 3.
And I wrote, no GAP. I just don't like that store.

Sooo, of course my santa buys me a GAP certificate. I know it wasn't out of malice, just her not paying attention. I hugged and said thanks, this is awesome....but I'm here complaining because man, how obvious could I have been? :rotfl:

You can send it to me. :teeth: Would you like my address?

Seriously, maybe you can just stock up on socks or something. I would be a little peeved though, too, if I got a gift card for somewhere I specifically said I did not want one for!

Maybe she thought you were trying to use reverse psychology? :rotfl2:

I so understand you. One year at another job, we did secret santa. I put down NO Chocolate (don't really like it). So, what do I get? A big box of chocolates.

People don't read, don't pay attention to what they read, and/or are just inconsiderate. So, we re-gift.

Regift it or sell it on ebay - gift cards go for almost the dollar amount of the card.

One year when I was a department head, we had secret santas and apparently mine was the woman I did not give a promotion to...I got a $2 ceramic snowman with one arm broken off. :guilty:

Well, that sucks! But I'm sure you can find something there??? I really HATE Kohl's and I've got a gift certificate for them. I know I'll be able to find something.

The Gap does have some nice underwear, socks, and just plain turtlenecks or sweaters that could come from anywhere. Or you could just wait until summer and get some T-shirts.

But, yeah, what WAS she thinking?

my DSIL said that we could buy clothes for her 9mo old DD at Gap or Old Navy...so hey she is in 9 to 12 months, mom prefers pants outfits since she is crawling....:teeth:

good luck!!

Maybe the giver is like me and hates lists? I refuse to make one, and rarely read them. If I give from a list I think that the person should just go and buy what he/she wants. I just can't stand the "Hey, give me this!" attitude that invades Christmas. If I can't give from the heart, I usually don't bother.

That's a good story. Although to maximize your benefit you shoud have shown everyone the "great" gift she got you and ranted on about how this one was a near exact replacement for one your mother gave you years ago.....
