I'm sure this has been posted on many times before, but when it didn't pertain to me, I didn't bother reading up. Any recommendations for room requests at OKW? I know it's only a request and might not be met, but any buildings in particular or other location issues to consider?

I know everyone has their own opinions on this, but I have no idea of the layout there.

Thanks!!!

We were there two weeks ago. We were in bldg 14, right across the street from the HH. It was convenient. The view was of the 8th fairway of the Lake Buena Vista golf course. We had a 3rd floor (no elevator) 1 bdrm. We really enjoyed it.

Any recommendations for room requests at OKW?

It very much depends on the ages of your children, how long you will stay, the size of your room, smoking or non, floor of choice one, two or three...and what you like looking out over (ie: golf course, private building pool, main pools, canals).
Will you be using the resort frequently or most time spent at the parks? Do you want to be near a big feature pool or prefer a smaller between building pool. Will you have access to a car or use Disney busses? Need to walk to the general store?
OKW is a very large complex unlike BCV, BW, etc. it is spread out so give some more info and we can make a better recommendation for you...
ps...it is still our favorite DVC resort...hands down...after 10 years of visiting them all!

We just returned from OKW, 2 BR and studio in 35, 3519 & 3513, first floor and just a few steps from bus stop. Wonderful locations. We had a car, so we just drove up to HH when we wanted, or took bus for breakfast. We weren't really close to any pools, but we didn't use them anyway.

I really think this ends up being a personal preference, and I don't think there is a bad location at OKW. You can request near HH, near Turtle Pond pool, near South Point, Golf view, water view etc, but all have been acceptibale to us no matter where we have been put. We do prefer South Point because of being farthest from HH and only the second bus stop, but that's just us.

hi: we finally broke down and stayed at okw a couple of weeks ago- the cross country team was in buildings 16 and 18 and we were in 53. even from bldg. 53 the walk to the hospitality house only took about 10 minutes of stately waddling. we were right next to the bus stop, and never heard a thing. it's a lovely, quiet resort.

We have been staying at OKW since '93, I haven't found any area to be that much better or that much worse enough to even bother requesting a location.

if you have childer in strollers, by all means request a first level. there are no elevators and you will be lugging strollers up the stairs.
if you have smaller childer you should request being close to the hospitality house, so walks to the pool will be easier
smoking or nonsmoking
if you dont have little ones, you may want a room away from the hospitality house and up higher (better views and possibly less noise- from buses and such)

Thank you all for your input. I'll see what our weather and moods are like at check-in. If it looks like swimming weather, we'll aim for closer to the main pool. If we need some peace and quiet, we'll look for something out of the way. Or we might just get stuck with what we're given - which sounds like it would be fine no matter where it is! Thanks again!
