FM, I noticed you must be online right now, can you please be a sweetheart and give me a brief rundown on what Busch Gardens is like, that is unless you do not know whats there, I'm assuming you know cause it shows your location as Tampa Bay.
I hope you don't mind? I have the 14 day 5 park pass for the both of us.

It's like Animal Kingdom but with roller coasters. They have a kiddy land, but I don't think either of you would be interested in that. They have some water animal stuff. The one thing that pops into my mind that I was impressed with was the Manatees. They do have some wicked roller coasters. If it's part of your pass, I would say go. My favorite Bush Gardens is in Virginia and I haven't been to this one since DD was born. She hasn't even been to it yet, but she has been to the one in VA! If you want more info I'll be more than happy to provide!

I always get a distorted view of places when I search them out on the internet, since I still have 3 weeks left in Florida before i must return to cold dark and gray Alaska I just wanted to try and get an idea of BG, the ticket girl at Publix says its the best park in Florida, but on the discussion boards its almost nonexistant, or is it a kinda small park like Sea World? we breezed through that place in just a couple of hours, its a good park, just not an ALL day park.

BTW, did you hear on the news about a young child from the UK visiting Universal Studios, got his foot stuck between the ramp and the car at MIB, they say he may lose a toe or two, it happened today I think. my son says a lifeguard had to "rescue him, it must have been while I was dozing in the sun, kids need 24/7 eyekeeping and I do just that.

NO I haven't heard about it. It hasn't even been on the new over here, but then they like to keep that stuff hush hush. Don't want to scare the tourists away. Yes, I would compare it to how long it would take you to go through Sea World. I wouldn't consider it an all day park, but then that depends on how many times you want to go on the roller coasters! It shouldn't be that busy, but yes it is that time of year when the tourists from South America are in town and they usually are in full force at this park! Hope you stay warm the next three weeks. It's going to fly right by!

LOL, what I meant was I try to keep an eye on him, for a nine year old he is so out of the world when it comes to water, course thats from living in Alaska, nil to nada on swimming up here though some schools have indoor pools. When I asked him if it was a girl lifeguard he said yes, I said "why didn't you fake it it and get mouth to mouth?":p kids got no sense of humor, I would have.... (J/K) he was playing in the little tots area in like 3 feet of water!

Yeah I'm surprised at how fast just one week has gone. At least i'm tanned which is indeed a rare sight in Alaska. Now I'm gonna have people calling me a cheechako all over again.

Thats a term to call a "newcomer" or someone that has just moved to Alaska, I've been there twelve years.

Still can't wait to hear about Disney's date last night. I hope it went well and that she has just been too busy to post...

Hey Guys!!!! :)

It is so nice to know that you were all thinking about me and wishing me good thoughts. I wasn't trying to prolong my detail sharing, but I had a busy day today, and couldn't get on the internet until now.

OK date recap!!! ;)

Met at his place at about 6:30 then he drove. We went to this mini golf/go cart/arcade/batting cage place in Stuart. This is about an hour drive south on 95 for us :smooth: Played mini golf first. I even have a wound to show how well the date went!! HaHa. Hard to describe the theming of the mini golf place, but there were old ship wrecked boats and a waterfall. Well one of the holes was in a large cave. It was actually a very hard shot, par 4, the cave completely made a sharp corner so you couldn't see the end hole from where you started hitting. I hit first and was standing off to a corner in the cave out of the way of his shot...or so I thought. Somehow his ball hit my ball with such force that it actually launched my ball up into the air and it came flying at me!! I turned to jump out of the way (the normal response I think when a golf ball is flying through the air at you!!) forgetting I was in the corner of a cave, and smashed my arm into the wall. My forearm got completely scrapped up, enough to draw blood! This hole was also my downfall in the game I think...probably my wound!! ;) I had to take 6 on this shot, which ended up allowing him to win the game (well maybe that and his two VERY luck holes-in-one!). The par was 51. He got 52 and I got 55.

After mini golf we got some tokens and played some arcade stuff. A couple games of air hockey (tied), some skiball, and a few things to win tickets. We only came away with 35 tickets , which wasn't enough for anything interesting in the prize section, but the woman working there was sweet and let me pick from the section of prizes up to 100 tickets (these were still small little trinkets) I don't know how to explain this very well if you have never seen them, but it is a rubber half circle and you turn it inside out and place it on a table or something and it pops up. Well he suggested I get that so I asked the wman for that and she gave me 2!! So I got 150 tickets worth of prizes for only 35 tickets!! ;) The place was closing at 9pm, and although he wanted to ride the go-carts we didn't have time. So we took our prizes out into the parking lot and spent about 20 mins playing with them, bouncing them off of his car and tossing them into the air. It was very cute! Then we decided we were going to get dinner, but neither of us really knew this area, so he went back into the place and asked the workers where to find restaurants. We finally ended up back at US1, and to cut a long story short, drove around until about 9:50 when we finally ended up at the Jensen Beach mall area and had dinner at Chili's (just about the only thing interesting that would still seat us...we had tried to go to Olive Garden, but that didn't work). Had dinner and then drove home. He is doing a ton of remodeling at his place so he invited me in to show me some of it. We chatted for a bit and I left to go home at about 12:45.

The DATE (it most definitely was a date) was so nice. I had a great time. We had a ton of fun, and were laughing and joking the whole time. I was definitely curious if there would be a first kiss at the end...but alas there was none...perhaps this is good. Don't need to rush into anything at all, I am VERY comfortable taking my time. I attribute the lack of kiss to his inherent shyness, which is very cute to me actually. I definitely do know that he must anticipate, or at least hope that we will continue to be getting together. I gather this information from his cat actually!! ;) His cat is the biggest scaredy cat in the world I think. She gets scared of the doorbell and then runs and hides, so in the 2 times I have come over, I still hadn't seen her. Well she hides under his bed, so during the tour of the remodelling stuff we peaked under the bed so I could actually see her. Anyways, he made the comment that as she got used to me she would be less scared. I said she could never get used to me if I never saw her. He said well after you have came over a few more times she will start to poke her head around the bedroom door, then she will start to creep out into the living room, and soon she will be comfortable with you ;)

I saw that on the news tonight about the boy at Universal, so it's not ALL hush hush.

I'm going to take this opportunity, as I always do when given the chance, to be a snob and knock Busch Gardens. Now that there's a DAK and an IOA in Orlando, the only reason to go to BG is if you live right next door to it and can't get to Orlando. It has TWO good coasters, three if you like wooden coasters (I don't -- headaches!). Even so, the coasters at IOA are just as good or better, so it's not worth the rest of the miserable day you'll spend there. The other coasters are really pathetic; they last about 30 seconds, but you still have to wait in line for an hour in the busy season. This is pure torture. These aren't themes queues like at the Orlando parks. They're usually zig-zagged, cramped lines on a slab of concrete... one of those things where you pass the same person over and over while trying to avoid losing your mind by making fun of all the trailer trash tummies you'll see hanging out of their unbuttoned cut-off shorts (ok maybe not in January). Let me add that these are not the type of people you WANT to be 2 feet away from. The guests at BG are way low-caliber compared to the Orlando parks.

Yeah, the dolphin show is ok, but they have much better at Sea World. Yeah, the Montu is awesome, but so are Dueling Dragons. Yes, the animals are nice, but only 20% as nice as the habitats they have at the Animal Kingdom. The shows are embarrassingly tacky. I have a hard time understanding how the same company could run both Busch Gardens and Sea World. SW is so much nicer. To answer your question of should you go.... well, about a year and a half ago, I got the 2-park (Sea World & Busch Gardens) pay-by-month annual pass that automatically renews. I haven't gone to BG once in all that time... and it's already paid for! (I really need to cancel that thing; I only haven't due to procrastination.) So, if you're anything like me (a theme park snob, some would say), you'll spend a lot of time saying, "This ____ (attraction/show/eatery at BG) is just like ______(same at WDW/USF/SW), only they did a really crappy job.

But, hey, I understand the need to try everything once. I personally haven't felt the need to return there since IOA brought real coasters to Orlando. The last time I was talked into going there, I was ready to leave after about 2 hours. :(

I hear Barry likes video taping all the pre-prostitute teeny boppers who walk around there in their bikini tops, though. So I expect a rebuttal. :p

Argh... I'm writing all that boring crap and missing the date report!

That sounds like a fun date... not the normal boring date stuff at all! Now I need a refresher course. I know you said he is older, but I don't know how old you are, so fill me in so I can get a good concept here.

Love that he snuk that in about the cat getting used to you. Very smooth. ;) And have I mentioned that I LOVE shy? SO cute! Taking it slow... also cute. Those relationships are the only ones that have really lasted for me. Maybe it's because with those, you know there will be plenty of time for all that stuff later. Taking it slow = very romantic, if you ask me. Sounds like a winner.

Oh I suppose I forgot to mention what I decided to wear! ;) Since I am sure that you are alll just DYING to know  ;) I wore a pair of dark denim jeans and one of those tops that look like a button down shirt with a sweater over it, although it is actually only one piece. The top was a black ribbed sweater and the collar and cuffs were a deep blue with white pin-stripes.

Doc- if you ever need/want a shopping buddy I am definitely your girl!!! Sadly (well maybe not in the opinion of my wallet) I have no friends in the area who actually LIKE to go shopping! :( It was great when I my friend was visiting from Maryland...she is as much of a clothes (and shoes, and accessories, and...) horse as I am! But honestly if you ever think you need a wardrobe pick-me-up I would be happy to help.

...oh, and stalkers are not cool.
I know this from personal experience with ex-bf.
Don't go that route Barry.

Busch Gardens is ok. I graduated from the University of South FL in Tampa so I went to BG since it was so close to school. I liked it best then for after hours Busch parties :teeth: I have been a few times since I got out of school (even been as far back as late 60's, early 70's) but it just can't compare to Disney. (I haven't been to IOA yet) But since you have tickets and are so close (compared to Alaska)- go check it out. Get your free beer too.

I don't know how to explain this very well if you have never seen them, but it is a rubber half circle and you turn it inside out and place it on a table or something and it pops up
My dd6 has one attached to a rubber eyeball.

So we took our prizes out into the parking lot and spent about 20 mins playing with them, bouncing them off of his car and tossing them into the air.
This had me laughing.

Glad you had a nice date Disney.

Hey legs I graduated from USF not once but twice!
Hi, fellow alumni!
Did you live on campus or commute?
Waaay back when I went there it was known as the "commuter" school. I lived on campus in Alpha, and the Village, and across the street in Fontana Hall.
It's wild that they atually have a football team now. And I think the greeks now have a frat row or frat houses.

Disney, so happy your date left you smiling! He sounds like a gentleman, and a romantic one to boot!! What's the saying from Tortoise and the Hare....Slow and Easy Wins the Race!!

I was disappointed to hear Busch Gardens is not what it used to be. I remember liking that place as a child. :(

Must take dd's to dance classes....

Happy Saturday, everyone!

I am so glad you had a wonderful time! I also think first kisses are extremely special and should never be rushed. The first time my guy kissed me we were at Kemah Boardwalk. We thought we were all alone and in the middle of the kiss we get honked at by a boat! I didn't even know boats had horns!! Talk about special though - I will never forget it.

To FF, in apology

Barry, please come out and play with us again. I never meant to imply you were a stalker. Would some cookies entice you to come back?

Ahhh, now the board is looking like the National Enquirer again. Chip of Chip & Dale is accused of molesting someone.

Can I have cookie, pretty please, to have with my cup of coffee?

LOLOL! to your first comment. The second? I find quite off the wall. You have to wonder how much they can see out of those costumes! I think it was an honest mistake.

OK, what did I miss? Am I really that much out of the loop?!

I didn't even know boats had horns!!
Lol! This struck me as funny! However, your story was over the top!! :sunny:

My mom brought us some homemade chicken soup tonight. Would go well with those cookies!! (I've done nothing but eat all day. Hmm......)
