Okay...I've Called the Late Night DISers, Now I'm Calling the Single DISers (Part 2)

PW- I bet the training is paid.

I haven't heard anything from the doc today. I even emailed him too.

Suzanne- Glad you had a fun, relaxing weekend.

TB- Good luck with selling!

PW-You're right about improving a house too much. You can price yourself right out of the neighborhood. I was an office manager in a real estate office for a couple of years and I learned a lot about the real estate business.
Good luck on the phone interview. I don't see how training wouldn't be paid. Will be anxious to hear how it goes!

Legs-Kind of odd that the manager emailed you while you were interviewing. Hopefully you'll hear something soon I know how it is waiting. From the first phone interview to actually being hired it was a month.

Today at work one of the account managers was fired so guess who gets all of his hotel accounts? You guessed it...me. Another 117 hotels. And he was so unorganized...don't even know where to start! I might as well take my sleeping bag to work. Feeling very overwhelmed right now!

My kind of cooks here on this site! DBF loves to cook and my ex would cook too so I have been spoiled in that area.

TB-Second showing...they must be fairly interested. I know when I was looking for this house I only looked at two houses twice and this was one of them. Keeping figures crossed that it sell soon!

FM-Any news from the dr? Hope I am not asking something that you've already talked about here. I miss somethings sometimes....must be old age!!

I am so excited...DBF emailed me today and asked me to make reservations in Colorado Springs to stay at the Broadmoor for a weekend. The Broadmoor is a beautiful older hotel at the base of Pikes Peak. It is especially beautiful and romantic around the holidays. We went there for one night last year when we were first dating....he had earned the stay for having high sales at HP when he worked there.

Have a nice night everyone!

Go back to the dr this Thursday so should be all good news.

Sounds like dbf is looking for some romance with relaxation. You guys go have fun!

Legs...Maybe it takes him a bit to answer. I remember the first time I called a doctor's office and no one called back until 3 days later!! That was my OB in FL. I know he's busy, but 3 days is a bit much. That never happened in NJ...ALWAYS had a call back the same day. FL docs have a bit to learn. LOL!

Vicki...A romantic weekend! :scratchin ... :scratchin ... :scratchin I'm trying to think of when I last had one! :scratchin ... :scratchin ... :scratchin Hmmmmmmmmmmm. LOL! I can't remember a romantic "weekend." Guess I never had one. No, I've never had a romantic weekend. :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: I NEED one! I'm missing a lot!!! :smooth: ;)

Suzanne...Good luck at the doctor's! DS is headed to a new pediatrician tomorrow. I'm sure he'll be referring him to an endocrinologist. Ack! We'll see how it goes.

CM-
I've heard of the Broadmoor. It sounds especially wonderful around Christmas. That will be great!

I am feeling overwhelmed at work too. Actually I feel overwhelmed at home too.

FM- Good luck at your doctor visit. Hope it is all good news.

PW- Good luck with the phone interview today!

Sandy, how did the phone interview go today?

Legs, did you hear back from the doc? Are you still interested in the job even after learning the real scoop?

No phone call and no email. :(

I am still interested but not as much as I was after the doctor interview.

Got home from work at 8:00pm tonight. Had to stop at bookstore for project stuff, then to religious ed class, then home.
DD and I finished her project on France at 10:45pm tonight! UGH! I hate projects. I can't even keep up with normal stuff and I'm supposed to fit the time in for a project? It totally frustrates me to try to get dd to understand what she is supposed to do.
I am so overwhelmed and tired.
I still have to decide on paint and roof colors on my house so the shingles can be ordered.

Then I just realized I missed the first episode of the new Amazing Race:mad: Darn it!

Do you have a homeowner's association where you live, Legs? If so, you might want to check with them on roof color. They may allow only certain colors.

The phone interview went well today. :teeth: I'm meeting with the guy next Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. Guess I'll see what rush hour is like although I bet it will be lighter being it's Thanksgiving week. Anyone who said you bet training is paid was right! It takes 6-9 months because you're in training with about 15 people total for a while, then they put you on the phones in groups of 5, listen to how you handle things, give LOTS of feedback, then it's back to training a while, and the same cycle goes on for that long. He said even with the training you aren't taught every single thing about it. Things will pop up. A big concern for me are the hours. He said they don't work OT very often, but right now they are working it, and at tax season there's OT. Everyone chips in and does it. I asked him if hours fluctuate at all. He said core hours are 8-5, but you could be in as early as 7 or stay as late as 6. When you are assigned a schedule, that's what you stick to. Ack! I'll have to think of how 7-4 or 9-6 might work with DS! It wouldn't be easy!! So the hours and OT could be a problem. :( But I'm going on Tuesday for sure. :)

I don't have an HOA. I'm trying to decide between a light to med. gray or a tan.

Glad the interview went well. It's so hard though to work OT and have your hours fluctuate when you're a single parent :( I was not happy when I found that out in my interview.

What color is the outside of your house, Legs? I love gray, hate beige. LOL! When I lived home with my parents, there was "sand" carpeting, various shades of beige through the house...furniture, etc. I guess I was really tired of it!! Ever since I left, I always go with grays. :)

Well, I finally had my window replaced today. It's only been a couple months since that happened! Don't know what this company's problem was. Was waiting all the extra time worth the $20 saved over the other company? I don't think so. I'm hoping we get really cold temps so the golfers go away the rest of "the season." Isn't golfing season over? It is November!! Go away, golfers!!!! I see them out there in jackets, hats, and gloves!! Go away!! Come on snow!!! I guess DS will be sledding down the hills when that happens. :teeth: I think I'll be putting that down for a Christmas present if it doesn't snow and stick before. I'm sure that won't happen. One of those little metal disks that look like they'll fly.

I don't know about this job. The more I think about it, the less I want to apply for it. Hate to bring up the issue of having a child and hours during an interview. :earseek: I even started a thread on here about latch key kids. I'm not comfortable having him come in alone after school! And if I get stuck working until 6, figure it's at least 7 when I get home.   I can see the hours will be a deal breaker for this. If it's 8-5, okay. Earlier or later hours, no!! :(

Tomorrow I'm working through the temp agency again at the same place I was at last time. :teeth: :Pinkbounc I wish they would have an opening! It's so close to home I can get home for lunch and take the pups out...another thing working the other job. I know my retriever is an angel with not being able to to outside an entire day, but I really doubt it with the little one. Geez!!!!!

The outside is beige with dark brown trim, dark brown garage door, dark brown front door. I am so sick of dark brown. The last time my ex-husband painted I was so mad that he painted the same yucky colors again without asking me! I don't know why I'm even considering tan? If I get a gray roof, I will definitely have to paint the house. But it does really need to be repainted anyways. One estimate I got for painting was for $2100!!! ACK! I'll definitely be getting more than one estimate. At first I was thinking of gray roof, pale yellow house with white trim and doors. Then I had second thoughts about the yellow.

STILL no call or email from the doc and no word from HR about the job. The waiting is a killer!

Sandy, is it possible for you to only apply for a 8 to 5 position? Would they still consider you? At least tomorrow you will be back at the place you like! :D

Sorry about the wait Legs. I'll scream with you if you like. :hyper: I had such a crazy day at work I bet I could even make it sound like it was real. :teeth:

With those colors I'd definitely go with a beige roof. But if you want to paint the house the colors you mentioned, now's your chance to change everything! :teeth: YES! Painting the outside of a house is so expensive. I ended up doing things as they were required by my HOA. One year they decided the front fascia needed to be painted. I had the fascia all over the house painted so it looked nice. $800!! Then a couple years later it was the wood tile roof. Got a really decent price on that!! There was a guy who did a few of them on our street, so he gave us a good price. The HOA planned on the outside of the buildings being painted in a couple years. The new owner gets that one! :Pinkbounc :teeth: Keep getting estimates.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...could you call HR and ask if they're close to making a decision? People keep telling me this isn't being pushy, this is showing interest.

Hi everyone,

PW-Glad that the interview went well but I understand your dilemma. How old is your son again? It’s hard having them come home alone…even though my DD is 15 I make her call me when she gets to school and when she gets home because she has to walk and it makes me nervous. But I have no choice…school starts at 7:15am and I need to be at the light rail parking by 7:00 to get a parking space and then she gets out at 2:15…not sure what schools expect parents to do when their kids are too young to drive.

Legs-I’m with you on the overwhelmed at work and home! :earseek: Yesterday was a stressful day at work, I was exhausted…actually fell asleep on the light rail! Get home and DD needs to go to Michael’s to get supplies for a project…I’m with you on those projects….love those projects and it was supposed to be a group project but her group didn’t do anything so she was going to do it…I’m a zombie walking back and forth, back and forth from one side of the store to the other following her around while she tries to decide what she needs….I was so glad to get home!
::yes::

Waiting for that call for a job is so hard…as disappointed as you might be if you don’t get it at least you will know and can get on with other plans….I was there with this job and that is what I wanted either a yes or a no….but finally they came through.

The Broadmoor is very nice. I can’t wait to go! If any of you ever come to Colorado it is a great place to spend at least one night. The resort surrounds a lake and then you have Pike’s Peak above you…there is a great restaurant there too that has live music kind of like being at the Rainbow Room in NYC. We ate there last year but we are skipping it this year so that we can stay two nights. It’s really expensive but at least we’ve done it once. He will really need the relaxation…he’s been stressed and it is nerve wracking being in a war zone….Don’t think it’s the hotel from One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, though.

Yea another Amazing Race fan! I did see most of it in between helping with the project. It is going to be a good one! Except I have such a hard time with men that are so disrespectful to their wives/significant other! There is one couple I can’t remember his name but hers is Victoria and I remember her name because he was always nagging…bad mouthing…ect. her. I wanted to slap him and I am not a violent person at all!
:duck:

FM-Good luck at your Drs. Appointment!

So what are you all doing for Thanksgiving? This is the first year that I don’t have any plans and I’ve always gone or had family over! Last year DBF, DD and I went to my parents (4 hours away). My sister and family are going to her in-laws which we were invited but I don’t really feel like going there. Then DD’s family in Colorado Springs asked us to come there but I really don’t feel like going there either. They are very nice and we get along well it’s just that I feel kind of strange going there without DBF….I think it would make me miss him more! So I think it will just be DD and I. I think it might be fun watching the Macy’s parade in our p.j.s…do the turkey thing and just have a relaxing day. Maybe get ready to decorate the house…I like to do that the weekend of Thanksgiving.

Not with this job it seems. He said you're assigned certain hours to work. Hmmm.

Yes, I'll be glad to get back to this office tomorrow! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc And I don't go in until 9:30. :) He must have a meeting in Williamsburg first.
