Okay, Is it just me or is anyone else worried

This thread got me thinking.

What if we are flying into Orlando and there is a hurricane and they have us land somewhere else. We are using Magical express, so how would we get to our resort? I guess we'd have to rent a car.

as long as you dont land in the middle east, with all that excitement going on.......
now if we land on the LOST ISLAND.....
HHHMMMMMM.....would not be so bad......

Note to self: pack cards, Sodoku, and board games for Disney trip!

When the parks were closed, were you allowed to swim? Was DTD off limits? Any other details that you remember?

For Francis, the first day that the parks were closed, the stores and restaurants on the Boardwalk were open until about early afternoon (we ate lunch at ESPN) we walked around the resort area (BWV, YC & BC areas). We did swim that day until about 5/6pm when the rain started to come in. Once the rain came it was sort of like lockdown. We were staying at BWV, so we checked out movies from Community Hall along with board games. Since BWV doesn't have a restaurant on-site (they have the restaurants on the boardwalk, but you couldn't go outside to get to them) we had boxed meals that were available.

BWV had stuff going on in the lobby area. They had coloring stations for the kids. They had characters that would come out and visit with the kids. The CMs created a volleyball net using tape and balloons for balls that the kids could play volleyball in the lobby.

For us we were ok with the situation because we go to Disney every year, but I could see the trip as a huge dissappointment if it were a once-in-a-lifetime trip and I never was planning to go back.

We leave in 27 days and I'm not at all worried. I realize it's a possibility, but so is getting hit by a Disney bus! :teeth:

We leave on august 19th out of Logan in Boston and right now I am more worried about more of the tunnel falling on us! :faint:

We went on our first august trip last year and we just beat Katrina home. Disney is INTENSE in august - the heat and the humidy are stiffling. Their thunderstorms are a sight to see. We stayed at the BWI with a room overlooking the water and one storm was so intense you would have sworn you were looking at the ocean with all the wild waves!

You will probably continue to woory until you get there, but I do hope that you can relax and have a good time. I worry about one coming before we get there and then our vacation gets cut short - at least if it happens while we are there we are already there!

We live in another New England State....and having spent enough time in Boston to know that tunnel situation is just....horrible!
I feel bad for you folks....hope they rectify that soon!

that a big old hurricane is going to come and blow away their disney dream vacation? I just haven't been able to get myself into the "disney mood" (we leave in 3 weeks) yet because I am afraid that if I do, a major storm is going to disrupt my vacation. I know, I know, I sound SO selfish with everything else that is going on in the world, but when you have spent the last several months planning each and every detail so that your family can have some real quality family time together, you like to see it to fruition. Am I the only one feeling this way?

On a side note-(and I hope and pray this doesn't happen) does anyone know what Disney does if you have to cancel? We have a very narrow window of time in which we can go because of the kids school schedule. Rescheduling just wouldn't be an option. I did buy trip insurance this trip knowing that this could be a problem. If you have had to cancel and you had trip insurance did they give you a full refund? Goodness, I am such a worry wart today!!!

...that's why I decided to invest in INSURANCE...I never buy it, but because of last year's 'hurricane history', I felt that the $112 was WELL worth it....(PLUS, we are driving, so I didn't have to fret about cancelled flights...)
