If you are doing the 3 or 4 day you can easily just use one suitcase each. Even on the 7 day we each only bring one suitcase and a carry on. There are 5 of us including two teenage girls that pack everything under the sun. In May we had a group of 11 people and only had 12 pieces of luggage!!! The porters were amazed and told us we did very well!
Really, you do not need as many clothes as you think you do. Most of the day you are in swim suites or shorts and at night is the only time you need to dress up a bit. Yes for formal and semi formal you need to dress appropriately but my hubby only brings one pair of dress slacks, a jacket, two ties and two shirts. He wears a different shirt and tie on each of the formal nights. The rest of the nights we wears his two pair of dockers he brought with polo shirts. On tropical night he wears his shorts and tropical shirt. A bunch of underwear, some t-shirts and beach shirts, bathing suits, socks and you are set to go!!! If we do Palo then he will wear one of the dress shirts again with the slacks, jacket and tie.
And for women....I usually bring 4 pair of capri pants, a long lite-weight denim sun dress, a long black formal gown for formal night and a black pant suit for semi-formal, jewelry, 2 bathing suits, two beach coverups a bunch of blouses, underwear, etc. and I am set!!! I wear the same black shoes on both formal nights, and wear my sneakers on the flight and bring 3 other pair of sandals. I also bring 2 night shirts and a lite jacket or sweater.
I just bought my DD19 a great rolling travel bag from L.L. Bean. It is huge and it is made very well. It will be perfect for our next cruise as it holds a ton and can be folded up very small flat storage under the bed. She got it in the Red Aloha print and it is just too cute!! Here's a link :
