I am on the hunt for a tried and true-best ever chocolate chip cookie recipe!!! Please share your favorite recipe!

Grover in Winnipeg (where it was a balmy -44 degrees this morning-brrrr!)

I hate to admit it, but my favourite recipe for choc. chip cookies is that one that was posted here a while back with the urban legend. I LOVE that recipe! (mine came from Nordstrom's according to the email I got with it:D . (and yes, it really does make 112 cookies and they are SOOOOOO good!)

NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES (Recipe may be halved)

Ingredients:
2 cups butter
24 oz.chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups sugar
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the
butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour,
oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda.
Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar, and nuts.
Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 112 cookies.

My all-time favorite is the one on the back of the Nestle's morsels bag! Mmmmmmmmmmm! :teeth: :teeth:

I don't usually mess around with it, but I read somewhere a recipe that called for malted milk powder. I didn't use their recipe, just added to the regular one. They were nice for a change.

We like the recipe on the butter flavored Crisco package.

It says to cool cookies on aluminum foil.

This recipe is delicious. It calls for a box of instant vanilla pudding.

2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup softened butter
3/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 small box instant vanilla pudding
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 12oz bag choc. chips

Preheat oven to 350f
Mix flour and baking soda- set aside
Combine butter, sugar, brown sugar, pudding, vanilla and eggs in bowl.
Beat until smooth and creamy.
Add flour mixture-stir until creamy
Add chips
Drop on ungreased cookie sheet
Bake 9-14 minutes or until slightly brown on top
Cool a few minutes on sheet, then remove to rack

We love these

Christine

Nancy's Chocolate Whoppers

Recipe By :Nancy VE
Serving Size : 16 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Cookies Drop
Formed

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
6 ounces semisweet chocolate
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup flour
6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
4 ounces walnuts -- chopped
4 ounces pecans -- coarsely chopped

Oven rack in middle of oven. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheet with foil.
Microwave both chocolates and butter in a medium bowl on high for 1 minute, then stir. Repeat at 30 seconds intervals until chocolate and butter have melted and mixture is smooth. (Or melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth). Let cool slightly.
In another bowl, with mixer on high speed, beat eggs, sugar, vanilla, salt and baking powder until lighter in color and bubbly, about 2 minutes. Reduce speed to low and beat in chocolate mixture (which may still be quite warm). Add flour and beat just until blended. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop about 2 tablespoonfuls batter per cookie, spacing about 2" apart (dough is gooey).
Don't flatten tops.
Bake 9-11 minutes, no longer. Surface will be dry, shiny and cracked, but inside will be soft.
Slide foil off cookie sheet onto countertop. Cool cookies on foil, or remove to a wire rack to cool.

Description:
"Honorable mention winner in Seattle Times chocolate chip cookie
contest."

My favorites are also the recipe on the bags of chips - but with modifications-

1st - poor 1 BOX of Instant Pudding into the measuring cup - then add sugar to make the required sugar quantity (makes cookies soft and chewy too!)

2nd - insteads of butter sometimes I use Shed Spread Country Crock (makes cookies soft and gooey)

and Lastly - I add Peanut Butter chips 1/2 the amount of Chocolate chips!

I now get requests to bring them to parties! I don't usually tell my secret recipe;)

Meriweather-Those sound great. I am really having to fight the urge to go to the store and get the ingredients I need. I know if I make them, I will eat them and I am really trying hard. I may save it for next month when I am in need of chocolate. Thanks.

LOL, I am glad I am not the only one who loves the recipe on the back of the Chip bag!! ;) Those are my favorite, except I substitute Chocolate Chips for M & M's sometimes...:)

Nancy, those sound great...:)

I use the recipe on the bag, too EXCEPT I use half butter/half regular Crisco AND (here's the best part) DOUBLE the chips. I make a double batch and working all those chips in is quite a workout. I usually wind up working the last bag in by hand. I went to this method AFTER I broke numerous spoons. Anyhow, it will seem like there's not enough batter to hold the cookies together, but believe me, there is. Also sometimes I'll make one or two of the "extra" bags white chocolate, or milk chocolate, or M&m's, or even peanut butter!!

I use the recipe on the back of the bag, with modifications. I only use 1 egg and I use more brown sugar than granulated, 1c brown and .5c granulated.

not cookies - but the most amazing brownies.

This was posted on a UK Scrapbooking list recently, and I had a go last week and they were amazing (although I had to make a few substitutions as not all ingredients were available in the UK)

Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars

1 14 oz. bag Kraft Caramels
2/3 c (5 1/3 fl. oz. can) evaporated milk
1 two layer German Chocolate Cake Mix
1/2 c. margarine, melted
1 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Melt caramels with 1/3 c. evaporated milk over low heat, stirring until smooth. Combine remaining milk (1/3 c), cake mix & margarine. Mix well. Press half of cake mixture into bottom of greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes (that's fahenheit-LOL) Sprinkle 1 c walnuts & chocolate pieces over crust. Top with caramel mixture spreading to edges of pan. Top with teaspoonsful of remaining cake mixture. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts pressing lightly into top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool slightly, refrigerate. Cut into bars to serve.

My favorite recipe:

Go to store, go to refridgerated section
buy premade chocolate chip cookie package
Open and put in oven to bake.

Gotta go, oven timer going off - cookies in 20 minutes!

My favorite recipe:

Pay for cookies
Drive home, turn on oven
Put cookies in oven -

I wanted to tell you I made your recipe and took some cookies to my son's preschool for his teachers. Both teachers told me that they were the best chocolate chip cookies they have ever had! They both want the recipe, so I'm passing it on to them. Thank you so much for posting it!

You guys are making me hungry! All of these sound like winners to me. :D
