Ok.....Your rich uncle just died and left you the DCL ship!!
OK....What would you add, or change to the Disney Cruise line?

I would add a CASINO.......Just an adult playground to get away from the kids, etc for a while......It may not be the DISNEY thing to do, but ..HEY!! I own the ship now!!

I would also set up a different rooms or price structure for a family of 5 or more...It gets very expensive for a family of 5....

WHAT WOULD YOU DO????

I would NOT add a casino. The absence of a casino is one of my favorite things about the Disney ships.

A do agree about the family of 5 situation. It doesn't involve us, but it is sad that people have to move up to a category 4 to fit a family of 5. I'm sure that was a financial decision. HOwever...it is frequently cheaper to do 2 low end cabins and double the bathroom space.

How about "suites" for people who just want to never get off the ship?

More laundry facilities.....

Ok, so I'm the boss. Here goes

Open a terminal on the west coast:

Cruises to Hawaii in the winter, Alaska in the summer. (7 & 10 cruises).

Casino on the ship, but it doesn't open until 10pm.

Internet access in every room for nominal fee.

Change the ressie rush so you can reserve anything 60 days out, including Palo.

Finally: Let me drive.

Jim

A ship on the WEST coast....yes!!! I have never been to the WEST coast....that would be a great trip....

Ok.....I want to drive also!!!:teeth:

No casino. Free sodas all the time. Better selection on room service menu. In room dining available from the dining room menus.

Add more food available at night.

Add a casino open from 9pm until 2 am.

Offer several adult-only cruises per year.

Change Palo to an upscale steak and seafood grill.

Put Disney in charge of the spa.

Revamp all dinner menus.

Add a non-Disney type musical variety show (Broadway songs, etc.).

Show The Lion King musical.

Offer free appetizers on the pool deck areas.

Offer one comedy show per cruise from a professional comedian.

Replace day at sea on 4-day cruise with 2 days at CC.

Put a jazz trio in the Cadillac Lounge.

Tables for 2 in the dining room

Pre book Palo & Spa

Bring back Dueling Pianos

OH - I like the jazz trio idea!!!!

Better Room service menus - I agree

2 days at CC -

And yes - I want to drive - But then again, If I own the boat, that shouldn't be a problem!

Without having given this a real lot of thought, off the top of my head, one thing I'd change is to NOT have Castaway Cay be the last day of the cruise. I haven't cruised Disney yet, but when we left Bermuda this past summer, it was sad, but the one bright spot was that we still had a FULL day at sea before getting back to port. It was nice knowing, as we were pulling away from Bermuda, that we had that "buffer" of a sea day before having to face reality again.

I realize that Disney considers Castaway Cay to be "the perfect ending of a great cruise" but I aready know how sad I'll be, waking up on Castaway Cay day, KNOWING it's the last day of the cruise, and not being able to fully bask in the glow of the island, that night, having to pack and everything.

A few things that I think would just put disney a cut above even where they already are:

-A "welcome aboard" gift in every cabin. The gift would change based on how many times you have cruised. Everyone, even newbies, would have a little tray with some chocolate covered strawberries and a couple of cookies, maybe some sparkling cider. Added to that would be a little something for repeat cruises with nicer and nicer gifts the more you have cruised. Maybe a coupon for a free drink or smoothie or something like that to start and for those who have cruised 50 times or more, a coupon for a free couples massage at CC.

-All non-alcoholic drinks included in the cost of the cruise, go to any bar and soda or juice is "free"

-Better room service selections. I wouldn't allow you to order anything from the diningrooms because I think they need that in the concierge levels to help make it worthwhile to stay in those suites, but it might be nice if a more comprehensive room service menu were developed.

-mickey ice cream bars available at scoops. and real scoopable ice cream while I'm at it. As long as we are talking about ice cream, how about a "gelato social" at Palo for the adults. I am still craving that yummy fresh gelato I had in Rome.

-cost of snorkels/floats/bikes on castaway cay included in the cost of the cruise. Basically a "no hassle" vacation and if someone takes "your" float, no worries, you can just pick up another one that has been discarded.

-if there were a production of the lion king on DCL, I would just about die.... but while we are fantasizing, sure! Or how about beauty and the beast or Aida. Maybe they could do special "broadway themed" cruises where you get to see all 3 shows and then have meet and greets with the actors... or to be a little more realstic, how about developing a "disney broadway teaser" show where a number or two from each of the disney broadway shows are done on board. Maybe a sneak peak of mary poppins.

Of course, I'd have to raise the prices to accommodate all of that and still get my very hefty bonus (sorry, Eisner complex there for a second!)

LOL

If I were the boss:

I would serve popccorn for movie time!

I would make Palo one of the regular dinning rotations.

Too bad I am not...

Spa robes that fit larger people--and while we're at it, FREE spa robes as souvenirs with the purchase of two treatments.

My wife tells me I can be a wet blanket...

So with that, I find it amusing that all the changes offered are those that would benefit the cruisers!

See, if the ship was mine, I suspect I'd be more interested in running it for a profit. Just like the Disney company does.

I suspect the more appropriate question for all the answers given would be: "What changes would you make in order to increase your enjoyment of the cruise?"

Carry on and ignore the guy over here splitting hairs! :)

Not really, Euphscott... as I said, the amenities that I wanted to add, I'd also build into the cost of the cruise. I don't think anyone truly expects to get anything for "free" but part of what makes a cruise so much fun is the perception that you are getting lots of stuff for "free" rather than being nickel and dimed like you are everywhere else in the world. I just think that Disney could take that feeling up a notch and really raise the bar for all cruise lines (as they did once before in building their two ships with larger staterooms and more outside/verandah staterooms than were typically built before). Perhaps my suggestions are "minor" but I do think that they could really set DCL apart from the others and make people never want to cruise anywhere else, creating more profit for me (the owner).

No smoking at all on the ship.::yes::

Absolutely no casino! and no smoking. Lion King on stage would be cool.

You'd have to make sure you scheduled your cruises around Barb and Tony's. They would get all the suites and pictures.....lol

NOTE ****
B & T I truly think you guys need to get away more often.
These two really are the new DCL owners !!!!!!
