Hi ,
We are cruising next may on the disney wonder for 3 nights :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc .
I have asked on the cruise discussion board and am now asking if any of you can recomend somewhere for us to stay for 2 nights previous to the cruise.
We just want to chill and relax before we go we do have car hire so as long as were fairly near restaurants/shops that will be fine.
I know a lot of people stay at the raddison and the new ron jon's resort but it's a little more $'s than we want to pay.
The new holiday express at tuckers lane looks nice and that tends to be the leader at the moment.
As long as there is a pool and it's clean I don't mind doing basic ( ha!! do they do basic in florida? )
Anyway sorry to harp on just thought some of you might be able to give me some of your valuable advice.
Thankyou,
Chucklechops

Hi Chucklechops,

Have you got the Passporter cruise Guide? It's an excellent read (especially if you haven't done a Disney Cruise) and I would thoroughly recommend it. There are some "budget" hotels in there I would be glad to look up for you (unless you already have it in which case I won't!)

Thanks

Karen

If you have time I would definately appreciate any advice info you might have.
Thankyou for being so thoughtful ,

Hi Chucklechops,

Sorry for delay in replying. Here’s what the Passporter Cruise Guide suggests; I have just written down points which you may want to know but there is more detail in the book if you would like, if you do just shout!

Radisson Resort at the Port
$109 per night, 2.7 miles to port
A 200 room luxury resort, closest to DCL terminal. Themed pool, tennis, fitness centre etc. Caribbean themed. On site restaurant. Not an oceanfront resort. Free shuttle to the port and also special rates for leaving your car here when you cruise. Visit http://www.radisson.com/capecanaveralfl or call 321-784-0000. 8701Astronaunt Boulevard, Cape Canaveral.

Motel 6 Cocoa Beach
$43 per night, 6.1miles to port
Lowest published rates in the area, clean motel with outdoor swimming pool. No onsite restaurant but there is a Waffle House in walking distance. Close to Ron Jon surf shop, only 1 block from the beach. No shuttle available to port, taxi will be approx $11-15. Visit http://www.motel6.com or call 321-783-3103. 3701 N Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach.

There’s also some info for Resort on Cocoa Beach which is condos starting from $165 per night. If you want more info please ask and I’ll post, but it looks similar to Ron Jon’s in price so thought the above 2 might be better.

Have fun deciding! I’m hoping to do the 3 night cruise next August so I would love to hear what you think.

Edited to add: sorry! Just noticed you didn't want the Radisson. Hope the other helps out though.

We stayed at the Motel 6 for one night before the cruise in April and it fit the bill - inexpensive. I believe we paid a total of 46.00 including tax. If I had to do it again, I'd have stayed in the WDW area. We arrived at 3pm from Disney the day before and agreed we could have driven over in the morning. We were kind of bored. I would have rather walked around Downtown Disney than hung around the Motel 6.

The room we stayed in was HUGE! The pool was fine, nothing fancy but if you are looking for cheap and clean, I think you'll enjoy this hotel. I booked through orbitz by the way.

You will be on the main street - down the street from the Radisson and a stone's throw from Ron Jon's. Plenty of places to eat.

Good luck!

Hi and thanks so much for all the info :D
Miffy have you booked your cruise yet?
We booked with all seas travel fab rate especially with the $ being so good infact we decided to pay for it in full because the rate was so good.
We have got a SPC and can't wait.

I just wanted to say - ANY rate you can get at the Radisson includes the free parking (I think to park at the port is $8 a day or something) - their special 'Cruise package' is a little bit of a swizz just to catch out the unsuspecting...

When I stayed there at New Year it cost me $109 a night for a 1 bedroom Jacuzzi Suite.

Thanks penny, we were told to ask for a standard rate when booking and then ask if they do a cruise rate.
I can understand why now.

Thanks Chucklechops

Chuckle, I always book via the Radisson website - they always have discounted rates there, don't ever pay rack.

I just looked - their internet room rate is currently $85 for a standard room - take off the $24 you'd pay for parking at the terminal and it means it's only about $60 (+tax) for the room - very reasonable I think.

It's extremely close to the port too which is such a bonus..and if you are lucky, you might get a room with a view and you can see the ships from your window :)

PENNY Thankyou I am going to look now.
That put's everything into a different light and makes it a much better deal.
Will let you know how I get on.
