guess you know by know I've never cruised before....but I keep reading about these konk koolers all over the place..I don't know what it is, but I can't wait to try one and I'll make sure I have one in my hands in 49 DAYS!!!

The Konk Kooler is the drink on the day when you are on Castaway Cay. It has a passion fruit base with rum, but you can get a virgin one as well. My DH loves them!

A konk kooler is a special tropical drink. I had my first on CC. It is made with light and dark rum, oj, passion fruit juice and cream of coconut.

These are the ingredients that have been posted for the drink on these boards. If you like it, ask for the exact recipe. We have our own version that we've changed a little to our taste.

Have fun and drink one for me since I can not have one on the beach until our June cruise!

It is undoubtedly the BEST drink ever! I dont know if it is just because it is introduced to you in paradise or what, but I have made it at home since and it is wonderful!

Mfan posted this recently:
1/2 can Creme of Coconut
3 oz light rum
3 oz dark rum
6 oz. frozen passion fruit juice concentrate (Welches) *
4 oz orange juice
2-3 cups of ice
Add all together in a lender until very fine and smooth (makes one large blender full)!!!

It is the same recipe I got a couple of years ago and is the Best!

Didn't know for sure was in them, but we really liked them. Too much.

Konk Koolers recipe from DCL:

1 oz Light Rum
3/4 oz Dark Rum
2 oz Pina Colada Mix
2 oz Passion Fruit Juice
2 oz Orange Juice

Blend over ice.

This is the "official" recipe. Thought I'd share.

.... coz I think I'm probably the only person on the planet who didn't like the Konk Kooler! Give me a Margherita on the rocks or a Mai Tai any day! OK - in around 140 days!

I'm with you, Tartanfan. I hate coconut so the konk kooler isn't for me. I'll just have to find an alternative - shouldn't be too hard, given all the yummy choices on DCL.

But the Midori Colada IMO is WAY better. YUMMY! Hubby and I were hooked on them! They are made with Melon Liquor (sp?). It seems like most of the foo-foo drinks have that Cream of Coconut base in them. Anyway, you must try a Midori Colada!

I have made them using the pina colada concentrate instead of the the coconut milk. YUM!

Anyone know what section of the grocery store can you find coconut milk?

I know the board on CC listed Pineaple juice as well and when my wife got one at Diversions, they went in the back to get some of the components then added the Pina Colada Mix to it. The Creme of Coconut should be in the drink mixer isles usually either with the drinks (waters, soda) or in the wine section. My wife prefers the Coco Lopez though our local Publix usually caries 3 brands. I use it for her all the time to make Pina Colada, no rum. Half C of C and half pineapple juice with ice in a blender and she says no one ever makes them as good as I do. One trick to making frozen drinks at home is to have either a VERY powerful blender or to use some crushed ice. Ice that comes out of the Fridge door that is somewhat crushed is usually enough. If you try to use full cubes, it's very hard for most blenders to break up the ice fully.

How strong are the mixed drinks? Can you taste the alcohol or are they watered down??
