Hello,

We are new DVC members. I have previously read on this website that the Air Conditioning is on a motion activated system?

Is this correct?

What can I do to override this or trick the system?

I think someone had suggested a helium balloon. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I didn't have any problems with the air at BW, OKW, or WL, but BC and SSR have that stupid motion sensor, and sleeping is difficult, to say the least. If you go in hot weather, it gets hot and sticky at night. My DD, who has asthma, was miserable at SSR, due to the fact that the air kept going off, and the room was so stuffy. She was much improved once we went over to Marriott for our second week. She needs to have the movement of the air to keep the allergens at bay. :thumbsup2

We had problems at OKW last summer. My dh and ds both have allergies. I don't, but woke up with bad headaches every morning.
A poster on another thread suggested the following :
On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there will be the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it, moving around or not. You may have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours.
I saved this info because we intend to try it this August. We don't have this problem at our offsite timeshare (Vistana).

You can get up and re-set the thermostat if you want, it will stay at the temp you put it at for a little while anyway. The problem was most people would leave their air running while at the parks all day long-in spite of requests not to that the non-caring members did so. The result is these thermostats that reset the temp by themselves, I believe the air is 79 degrees and the heat 71 degrees so the temp in the room in the summer has to go above 79 for the air to kick on by itself.
