I posted a thread a few days ago about not getting stressed out over crowd levels, etc., for my upcoming Disney Trip. Well, my stress level went from a "2" to about a "9 1/2" a few hours ago.

I planned this vacation 11 months ago. I originally purchased tickets through Vacation Express way back in February. In July, Vacation Express decided to stop flying out of my local airport. No big deal, plenty of time to get new tickets.

I was able to get a good deal on round trip tickets out of Allentown, PA, about a 45 minute drive from my house. Not great, but it's a flight. We were flying into Sanford, so I reserved my rental through Dollar. My PS were made, MVMCP tickets bought, as were our AP's.

I get a phone call at work today from my sister.
"Are you flying on Southeast Airlines Sunday?".
"Yes, why do you ask?"
"They just went out of business"

Sure enough, I check the website (flyseal.com) and all flights are cancelled. Panic time - get on Orbitz, get 5 round trip tickets out of Philadelphia (local flights were $500.00+ round trip). Call Dollar to change rental locations because we are now flying into Orlando International.

Now I have to fight to get the $1000.00 I already spent on the first set of tickets back.

WHAT ELSE CAN GO WRONG!!!????

Breathe! Remember why you worked so hard on this vacation in the first place. (Your family, I hope.) All this hard work and worry will be well worth it. And you may even get your money back from Southwest in time for your vacation.

Wow! I can't believe Southeast went out of business. Just this past weekend I saw tv commercials for Southeast. In the meantime, enjoy your vacation! Your stress level will go waaaay down once you arrive at WDW.

I am so sorry. I almost booked that airline for my DD. She goes to school in Allentown and she was planning on flying down to Orlando to meet us on vacation. Even though the price couldn't be beat and it was non-stop, I ended up booking Delta with a connection in Atlanta.

You mentioned having already purchased new tickets, but I did see this statement on the internet:
ALTERNATIVES Two other airlines are offering discounts to Southeast Airlines ticket holders. ATA: 1-800-225-2995, www.ata.com &
USA3000: 1-877-872-3000, www.USA3000.com

Southeast is advising its customers with tickets to contact their credit card companies for a refund and offering no help with re-bookings. Other discount airlines ATA and USA 3000, however, are offering to help displaced travelers schedule new flights."

Not sure how much help that gives you, but it sounds like you should place a call to your credit card company as soon as possible. Here's a site with a statement from AirTran on what they are offering to do, AirTran

I just went to www.southwest.com and they are still up and running. I was able to book a flight. I mean our flight is already booked, but they are still up and flying.

southEAST went out of business NOT southWEST

SO sorry to hear this...I almost booked my MArch/and April trip on Southeast. I know we don't like to think about this, but what about driving? Is it just too much? I remember driving all the time as a kid, and would do it again...just can not convince my DH. But instead of busting a budget, and for this year/ this year only would you consider it? You could leave Friday after work, and be there Sat or Sun, you might have to take an extra day off for your return trip (or give up a night).

I'm sending you pixie dust wishes :wizard:

I paid for my tickets with my Wachovia Debit Card, they have been very helpful and said I can anticipate a full refund.

Stress level at 6.5!

As far as driving down, we drove 8 hours to Nags Head this summer. Even with DVD player, DD was a little antsy back there. DW is prone to car sickness. I couldn't imagine 15+ hours.

I was able to get a decent deal out of Philadelphia International through Orbitz, only paid about $70.00 more per ticket. But, this flight lands at Orlando International, which is a little closer to Disney than Sanford.

Thanks for the kind words.

Kevin,

Did they say how long it would take? A 24-48 hour turn around time would probably help get that stress level back down to a 3. Hoping that everything works out for you and that your vacation is wonderful.
