I apologise for this, becuase I already posted this on the budget board, but I think more people come to this board so I thought I would ask this here.

Being a budget concience person I am trying to look at this from all angles.

2 nights at the Poly garden view, 3 day MMW basic, with dining option booked through Disney with tax=$1,628.00

2 nights Poly garden view booked through Disney with AAA discount - $638.00
3 day basic MMW 2 adult 2 child purchased though AAANY - $638.06
Total without tax on room $1276.06
Save without dining option $351.94
Which should definitely cover meals so the dining option is actually very costly.

OR

2 nights at the Poly Conceirge garden view, 3 day MMW basic, with dining option booked through AAA with tax=$1,753.90

2 nights Poly Con. garden view booked though Disney with AAA - $818.00
3 day basic MMW 2 adult 2 children purchased through AAA NY -$638.06
total without tax on room $1456.06
Save without dining option $297.84

Again shouldn't this saving more then take care of the food with $ left over?
How much is room tax?
Am I missing something because I thought the meal cost was only suppsed to equal $35 per adult & $10 per child which for 2 days should total $180.00

Thanks princess:

Can't answer the dining plan questions but room tax is 11%

yes you are missing something and that is the tax on you AAA quote which would bring that total up to $1422 and leaving a difference of $206...so close to the $180 total for you family dining quote...do you think you can eat more than the $35 adult and $10 child per day with the plan..if so it is a better deal that way..

Please explain. Are you talking about the non-conceirge? If so the rate with the 11.5%tax =$711.37 + $638.06(tickets)=$1349.43-$1628.00=$278.57-$180.00=$98.57 less then $100.00 is that worth it? :teacher:

Or am I just driving myself crazy?

This is supposing that the rates they send you on your confirmation include tax. Do they? :headache:

What exactly are you trying to figure out? Whether or not to do the dining plan? Or whether or not to do a package at all?

Is your $1628.00 package quote including a AAA discount? Or is that the full priced package from Disney? Because there is a big difference. For example, our Poly gv for 7 nights, with tickets, and meals was about $1000 cheaper with a discount code we used than the quote at disney.com.

Is your $1628.00 package quote including a AAA discount? no, there were no AAA packages w/o conceirge for our dates. Or is that the full priced package from Disney? yes. Because there is a big difference. For example, our Poly gv for 7 nights, with tickets, and meals was about $1000 cheaper with a discount code we used than the quote at disney.comthere are no codes released yet for our dates. I am going on the assumption that none will be released & will be very pleasantly surprised if we get one.
We are going to be there starting April 17th. I just wanted to make sure the dining option was worth the $ & that a package was the way to go. When I price everything individully it SEEMS cheaper, but will I end up spending that $ or more on eating? Once I figure the tax into it I need to add $73.37 to non-conceirge & $94.07 to conceirge.

Please explain

...sorry I did tax on your total (inc. tix) I guess I read your post wrong...often it is cheaper to do everything individually, especially this dining thing. The only time I have seen anyone think they were saving was to figure everything at rack rate...if you can get any kind of room discount ( AAA or code) it never seems worth it to add the dining plan....

It's such a toss up. Yes I am saving $ upfront, but will I end up spending more on food in the end w/o the dining option. If I did a character meal each day I think I would do better purchasing the package. I just wish codes would come out & then I would stop this back & forth thing. Thanks.

csmommy...I say skip the dining..it sounds like it will be running pretty close and for a short trip you may be obsessing the whole time making sure that you will "spend enough" on meals...

we will be at the poly the same time..4/16-4/23 !!!

Have a great trip
