There's a cobb salad at Rainforest cafe that I really like and also their Rasta Pasta!

The Beignets were a first this last trip and they were SOOO good. Definitely back there again!

You're list gave me a few new ideas though!!! Might have to mak sure we go to house of blues this trip and the Uva bar!

Churro
Tigger tail

Corn dog at DL (poor substitute, however, for hot link corn dog at Corn Dog Castle)

Looking forward to trying Wine Country Trattoria this trip.

I see your in California, do you go often? to those who go often there usually like you and can have these things more often. but for those of us from small dirt water towns and no where near parks and goodies yeah I put lots of emphasis 1 trip a year :lmao: thats half the fun for us!!

Yes, we do go often. We have annual passes this year and will go probably 4 times but most of our trips are 3 day trips. We keep them "cheap" by going we can get deals at Hojo's and usually splurge on 1 character or nicer meal each trip to try something new!

We did put a lot more emphasis on eating on our WDW trip this past December! Spent tons of time researching and planning. Like you said, that was more a once in a while thing and was a splurge/vacation whereas DL is different for us since we go so often!!

I like hearing everyone's favorites! Will definitely be looking to venture out on our next trip!

Well this weekend I want to have an apple pie caramel apple, sliced of course and shared of course. :)

Next month when we go for my bday I will have a larger list but for now I'm ok with that one. :)

Oh, I forgot, we are going to check out the BBQ while we are there this time so maybe we will do that as well. :)

just because someone lives in CA doesn't mean we get to go to DL a lot. My family goes pretty regularly but we are still a 6 hr drive away so it's still quite the trek to get there. Tracy is near us, maybe a little closer but not by much, an hour maybe. So even if you lived here you still may only get to DL once every year or two. :)

Tiger or Tigger? Two different foods. :) Tiger=breadstick thing at Bengal BBQ. Tigger=marshmallow and some sort of orange sweet stuff over it (will never have one b/c we're vegetarian and don't eat corn syrup).

For beignets, I would recommend Cafe Orleans over Brennan's. And I would also recommend trying the Fritters at Royal Street Veranda, b/c they are delicious in a similar but different way!

If you like rum and raspberry, the Pina Colava at Cove Bar is most excellent.

Be warned, the Mint Julep is kinda like toothpaste water with a hint of cherry in it...by the end of the drink I sort of didn't mind it, but for the first half of it I was really wondering why on earth I was drinking it, especially since it didn't even have booze in it.

Don't ignore the traditional beauty of the chocolate chip cookie. They are quite good and don't seem to have corn syrup in them (sometimes vanilla has it or HFCS) therefore DS can have them, and they very big, too. That cookie and a 16 oz iced latte from the permanent cart to the left of the castle (or the Blue Ribbon Bakery to get my AP discount)? Heaven for me.

(will never have one b/c we're vegetarian and don't eat corn syrup).
I've never heard this before? Please explain. I am not a vegetarian. Just curious...

I pulled out a Bacardi Pina Colada mixer out of my freezer and the #1 ingredient is High Fructose Corn Syrup.

I did not say that in a mean way, If you read my post it was to us hard up folks who can not get there often, and there for we look forward to getting the goodies. Some people do not dwell on food while on vacation, and thats ok, but some of us do and there for the list Abouley did not take offence I do not think, but if I sounded offensive please forgive me :)

Marshmallows are gelatin and corn syrup. So the gelatin knocks the Tigger Tail out of the running for vegetarians, and DS and DH can't have corn syrup (and it's likely the sweet sauce stuff they put on the tigger tails also uses cs or hfcs). When I eat things that obviously have corn syrup etc, DS gives me trouble. :) No M&Ms for me, at least not in his sight.

I pulled out a Bacardi Pina Colada mixer out of my freezer and the #1 ingredient is High Fructose Corn Syrup.

DS and DH can't have HFCS. Neither of 'em drink (especially since DS is only 4). All HFCS does to me is make me extra fat, but it doesn't cause violence (like with DS) or passing out from blood sugar spikes like with hubby.

I don't know what sort of mix they use for the Colava, don't know if it's colaDa mix, FWIW. But it's not my issue, just the family's. :)

I knew I had put all of that wrong in my first post. :)

Cob salad? we do not have those here tell me more. Are they like a chef salad? or corn in them? they sound interesting.

The Cobb salad is a garden salad and was a signature menu item of the legendary Brown Derby, a landmark restaurant in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Variations of the salad are now served in restaurants worldwide. Its main ingredients are iceberg lettuce, tomato, bacon, chicken breast, hard-boiled egg, avocado, and roquefort cheese.

from wikipedia. such a pain to make as a salad prep person (like I used to be!).

my sister is vegan and also does not have anything with corn syrup in it. she will never touch a marshmallow either. in fact we all went vegan for over a year and my family also cut this all out. it was the healthiest time of our lives!! Im thinking when I get back, to go vegan again. its cheap to eat, and the weight just fell off me. my kids thru a fit for a few weeks, but all settled in when we got going. thank you, I think Its time I go back on it and get healthy again ( after my trip and all the goodies that is )

we do not have these here, and I have talked to folks before who mentioned cob salads. they sound yummy !!! Ok I added that to my list :)

teatime, where do you live? YOu don't have anything for Location under your avatar and now I'm curious.

I've tried to be vegan but I'm just too addicted to dairy, specifically in the form of iced lattes. Soymilk is nasty to me (DS loves the stuff though) and rice milk makes my throat itch, so I just get sucked back to ovo-lacto vegetarianism. As I've cleared my diet more and more (even though I eat eggs and dairy) I've become a nearly non-allergic person (when it comes to environmental factors, that is, like grasses etc). When I was a junk-food-vegetarian it took being vegan to dump the allergies. Just realized that. Cool.

Not much weight loss, though, but when I exercise it disappears. Just gotta exercise.

Oh and hubby nearly cries when I start talking about being vegan. He actually has LESS dairy than I do, but the thought of never ever having it makes him very unhappy.

********
Just in case anyone thinks I'm being annoying by talking about this, I do NOT mean to say that others shouldn't eat the stuff we don't eat. Not everyone reacts like my family does to corn syrup products (though if anyone's kids have attention issues or violent tantrums, I HIGHLY recommend looking at their diet, as it was a nasty physical attack 20 minutes after DS ate a DumDum that caused us to realize what his problem was), and while I wish HFCS didn't exist, I know there's a place for corn syrup ("shiny" candies, for instance, and even if vegan gelling products are used for marshmallows I know of nothing else to get the properties that corn syrup provides to the 'mallow).

Goodness knows I'm judgmental about SOME stuff, but I don't mean to sound like it when talking about food (except to the lazy manufacturers who insist on using HFCS and gelatin when there are other things they could use). :)

Don't worry about it Tea Time. I don't believe that anyone was offended by it. I know I am not. I do live in Northern Ca. and frankly for various reasons, if I make it once a year to Dl. I consider myself a lucky camper. :) So, I can understand your sentiments.
I am very interested in visiting Dl. at least a couple of times a year, or more, when it is reasonably possible for me to do so. I hope that you will be able to visit more often too. And am hoping as well, that you and your family will have an awesome time! And remember, many food items can and do travel very well. :) I know....... :)

Let's see . My list differs based on if I travel with the kid or without her. When she and I travel together, we generally share almost all of our food. We're not big eaters. She's really picky. When she's with me, we normally don't buy much for snacks in the park. Caramel corn (fresh) if we can find it. Maybe a pineapple spear. We shared a dole whip once. We usually get one of those big chocolate dipped rice crispy treats from Pooh Corner to share. Maybe ice cream. We always have a corn dog from Main St for lunch our first day. We also eat our only in park breakfast at the Carnation Cafe on the day we do our early entry. They open at 8 on Saturdays so it works out about perfectly. The Flying Dutchman Cookie Boat from Blue Bayou is really good too. We also always bring back fudge for my mom. The dipped apples are awesome too. I've had the beignets from Ralph Brennans, but have yet to try them from Cafe Orleans. That's on my list for our next trip.

When she's not with me, I get to eat churros, pommes frittes (she doesn't do garlic), a monte cristo (she's not a fan) and taffy. I know it's not as good as when they made it there, but I still like it when I visit. It's the only time I eat taffy or corn dogs. lol I tried Bengal BBQ once and while it was edible, I wasn't all that fond of the sauces.
