ok, whacha gonna eat or look forward to having?

Just realized I actually forgot to answer the question's. ;) he he

I am hoping to not miss out on the Celebration Roundup BBQ! :)

I enjoy dining at the Blue Bayou. I like to order the Tesora Island Chicken and then for dessert, the Tortuga Trio of Cream Brulee. Next visit, I might actually order something different. Be it for main course, or dessert.

At Bengal BBQ, I quite like the bacon wrapped asparagus skewers. Yum!

I love Disney's home made peanut brittle. You can find it at Marcelines Confectionery (DTD) amongst other locations, in DL. I love good kettle corn too, which you should be able to find also in DTD. Most likely is sold in Dl. too. I just do not recall right off, where I may have seen it.

I love the chocolate caramel apple that is made on-site, at Marcelines Confectionery. Although now, what with Disney's big on site bakery, operating, they might be prepared there instead. It is not far away. It is off of West Ball Rd. near the back of Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. From there, the food products are sent out to their respective locations.

Forgot to add, I second noshing on the Pomme Frites that are served at Cafe Orleans.

The pirate punch, which I am presuming is still being offered, it had been last year. Is very tasty too, and is served in a Tink/Capt. Hook cup, with a magic straw, with your choice of a light up Tinkerbell or Capt. Hook. And also has a lid to top it off. :)

Just in case anyone thinks I'm being annoying by talking about this, I do NOT mean to say that others shouldn't eat the stuff we don't eat. Not everyone reacts like my family does to corn syrup products (though if anyone's kids have attention issues or violent tantrums, I HIGHLY recommend looking at their diet, as it was a nasty physical attack 20 minutes after DS ate a DumDum that caused us to realize what his problem was), and while I wish HFCS didn't exist, I know there's a place for corn syrup ("shiny" candies, for instance, and even if vegan gelling products are used for marshmallows I know of nothing else to get the properties that corn syrup provides to the 'mallow).

Goodness knows I'm judgmental about SOME stuff, but I don't mean to sound like it when talking about food (except to the lazy manufacturers who insist on using HFCS and gelatin when there are other things they could use). :)

We avoid HFCS and transfats in "real life". My kids don't react but I think it's the devil anyway. :-) They've never drank a soda. But, I relax it a bit on vacation and let them eat food that might have those things in it (food, not drink) - I figure one tigger tail a year is ok.

I like the mint julep, for me alone (I think the base is Sprite or whatever the Coke equivalent is). I'd never think to say it's a toothpaste-y taste but I guess it could be described that way. I love mint stuff. Mojitos are my favorite grown up drink.

- Knackwursts & Bratwursts at the Bavarian food stand next to Princess Fantasy Fair.
- German Chocolate Cake at the same place.
- Corny Dogs (of course) preferably from Corn Dog Palace. :hippie:
- Chicken Pannini Sandwiches at the Trat.
- Mickey Waffles (& the leftovers from everyone else's plate) at the Carnation Cafe.
- Churros
- Macadamia Nut / White Chocolate Chip Cookie from Pooh Corner.
- Mickey Bars.

teatime, where do you live? YOu don't have anything for Location under your avatar and now I'm curious.

I've tried to be vegan but I'm just too addicted to dairy, specifically in the form of iced lattes. Soymilk is nasty to me (DS loves the stuff though) and rice milk makes my throat itch, so I just get sucked back to ovo-lacto vegetarianism. As I've cleared my diet more and more (even though I eat eggs and dairy) I've become a nearly non-allergic person (when it comes to environmental factors, that is, like grasses etc). When I was a junk-food-vegetarian it took being vegan to dump the allergies. Just realized that. Cool.

Not much weight loss, though, but when I exercise it disappears. Just gotta exercise.

Oh and hubby nearly cries when I start talking about being vegan. He actually has LESS dairy than I do, but the thought of never ever having it makes him very unhappy.

Im in Montana hon, and you know what, your right about that
corn syrup!! Im glad you are passionate about this, believe me I am to! I have a autistic grand child I have had since 1 month old, And I find when I keep him away from this and junk candy he does wonderful!

Don't worry about it Tea Time. I don't believe that anyone was offended by it. I know I am not. I do live in Northern Ca. and frankly for various reasons, if I make it once a year to Dl. I consider myself a lucky camper. :) So, I can understand your sentiments.
I am very interested in visiting Dl. at least a couple of times a year, or more, when it is reasonably possible for me to do so. I hope that you will be able to visit more often too. And am hoping as well, that you and your family will have an awesome time! And remember, many food items can and do travel very well. :) I know....... :)
Thank you so much :) Im afraid this is now my last time going. I have taken all the grand kids now, this is the last grand childs turn, as my parents are way up there and are not doing well. I also care for a handicapped nephew full time so his needs are very high and there for this is the last trip. we went to Disney world this last year, had the time of our lives, and now we are about done. but I can say I took them to the parks, we had a grand time and thats what matters most. my Autistic grand son has only gone one time. he did not like it, and though I have taken him to other parks he is not interested. except silverwood, not sure why but he does well there ( or reasonably well) I do not pressure him, it makes for a hard trip. I want to enjoy the park foods, do what I can for the week and let my grand baby have a bsll. I will be in a scooter, but thats ok, we will get everything in and then some :)

I hear you, it was a hard transition for my kids to. cheese is there favorite. but we did it, and we love costco vanilla soy milk. we still drink that. My Autistic son will still not eat meat . My sister who is vegan has found so many ways to cook good foods that you miss like gyro using soy plain yougert, and she makes this stuff like meat using gluton. she is amazing and her family does not mind at all. she can make the best chinese foods this way to! oops got to go get my babies from school :)

I just want to try the pommes frites from Cafe Orleans! My and I CAN NOT wait to try them! They look delicious. ::yes::

Next time I'm in the park I'll be having:

The turkey/cranberry potpie from Carnation Cafe (if they have it when I go; don't know if it's just a winter/fall specialty?)

Mint juleps!- Most people don't like them; more for me!

Creme brulee French toast (from Goofy's Kitchen buffet)

Cafe Orleans gumbo

Not all at the same time, of course!

I did not say that in a mean way, If you read my post it was to us hard up folks who can not get there often, and there for we look forward to getting the goodies. Some people do not dwell on food while on vacation, and thats ok, but some of us do and there for the list Abouley did not take offence I do not think, but if I sounded offensive please forgive me :)

Oh hun, I was not offended in any way by your post!! I'm sorry if my reply came off that way, it was not intended to be that way. I had a little issue with someone on another board this morning, (still sort of am really) so if I let that bleed over I am sorry. :) I know that a lot of people think that CA is very compact and that it's a short trip to DL from anywhere and in fact it isn't. That's the only point I was trying to make. :) Believe you me, I have no problems thinking of the food at DL! lol :)

Molly, the one thing I notice about HFCS and my kids is they tend to get hyper after they have it. Extremely hyper. I notice that if we go out to dinner and they get soda they get really freaked out after dinner but if we have water with dinner they are ok. Does E do that as well?

I understand sweetie, and I get the drama from other boards. thats why I have spent most of my time here now. this place seems so right !! people here seem to be genuine and helpful, even when you know these questions have been asked 2,500 time :lmao: you all rock!!!

There are a couple of things my DD and I want to have again on our next trip:
Monte Cristo
Churro (we have them here at our theme parks but they don't quite taste the same.:)
Wetzel Pretzels from Downtown Disney

We have never tried and I hate to admit this
Dole Whip we will definately have one this time

another thing I've heard about and would like to try are the
Tiger tails?
That is about all. :)

I can not believe I forgot the dole whip :rolleyes1 by looking at my list I should be so ashamed of my self :lmao: Really ashamed :headache: ;)

I am going with my 2 boys who can eat tons!
here's some planned faves but who knows if we will do all
popcorn
beignets
cinnamon roll french toast at carnation cafe
PB&J pizza at goofys
ice cream at dca
dole float

I really want a 3 cheese monte but don't think it will happen this trip!

I can tell you what not to eat. We accidentally skipped dinner last year and found ourselves foraging for food during Fantasmic. We got a burrito/chimichanga thing from a cart. It was the last one they had for the night, shoved up into the corner of the warmer. Caution: never do this!! A fresh burrito is pushing it. Day old burrito=no way. We were so sick a few hours later.

On the plus side, we had a great meal at the Taste pilot's grill. Yummy burgers.

I can't wait for a Monte Cristo
beignets
mint julep
corn dog (I only eat these at DisneyLand, no where else)

Anything at the Blue Bayou

1) the beignets. I've seen pictures here and they look so great!
2) soft served icecream with flavor.(i believe from Catch a wave????). When we lived in NY- this was the ice-cream everyone served. I moved to NC and nobody ever heard of it. Moved to the midwest, same thing. Moved to the west coast- same thing except when I came on this lovely board and saw a dining review with a picture of it. I got so happy I get to have "MY" ice-cream again! lol

Bumbershoot -

When I eat things that obviously have corn syrup etc, DS gives me trouble. No M&Ms for me, at least not in his sight.

I know this part is off topic, but I wanted to ask about M&Ms.
First, I too don't eat gelatin or HFCS, but for different reasons (I am not a vegan, although I wish I had the will power to be!)

I don't have the ingredients in front of me, but I think M&Ms use sugar, not HFCS or gelatin. Am I wrong?

And second, I recently discovered some of the major stores in major cities (and many more stores online) sell a gluten-free, gelatin-free Skittles. They are yummy!

Well first of all, I'm really going to enjoy not having to cook those days! Have someone serve me for a change, that's great all in itself! LOL

But I am really looking forward to all of it, GK dinner, those chocolate covered strawberries at poohs corner. :)

Things that I want to try this time, that I haven't eaten before:

Dole whip float

pommes frites

chicken fusili from Red rockets pizza port

Chocolate dipped strawberry, I make these at home, and they cost next to nothing, the thought of spending $4-$8 for them  is out of the question, but they looked SO GOOD!! So I still might get one.

Loaded baked potato soup from Carnation Cafe

Chicken skewers from Bengal BBQ

Things I've had before... But want again! :woohoo:

Churro

Any icy drink - they're all pretty yummy

Tigger tails

Dole whip - I may not get one, because I'm planning on getting the float, but I was planning on that last time and chickened out :rolleyes1

There are heaps more items for both categories, but my minds a bit fuddled at the moment because of a cold... I'll keep thinking and if I remember anything I'll add it :)

Things I probably wont eat again

I need to remember not to buy anything old thing for just a snack, because last time I'd buy average stuff like the Mickey shaped ice cream, or packets of chips - Boring!!

Loaded baked potato soup from Carnation Cafe
chicken fusili from Red rockets pizza port

wonder if Im going to be able to do rides since I have a full eating schedule :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Ok this is silly, I want everything...... I have to draw the line....... I will skip the churro's :lmao::lmao:

For me, part of the fun of DL is the eating!
I love the cinnamon buns at the bakery on Main Street, the pineapple spears, the churros, the skewers at Bengal BBQ, the fruit plate at Zocalo, the spaghetti & meatballs at Pizza Port, the breakfast at Carnation Cafe, oh my there's so much.
We used to enjoy the fish n chips in DCA but don't know if the place is still there.
I just eat my way through DL. Great fun.
