Hi Everyone, I've been reading all the yummiest things to eatin USA. Now its time for the worst! My number one is Baked Beans.
I made some beans on toast in the villa one morning.... nobody ate. The beans were disgusting, dark brown and tasteless.

Great idea Michelle :)

For me, it has to be the "gravy and biscuits" you get at the breakfast buffets. It's the gloopy gravy that makes me feel funny!! It might (might, just might) be OK as an evening meal accompaniment - but for breakfast, no thanks!!!!

In Wal-Mart we bought the US Cadbury's chocolate - it was yuck, it tasted like laxatives and it had the same effect of DH - LOL !!

I agree...............it is disgusting.......

I'll also add the jello for breakfast 'thing' - cakes at breakfast I can cope with .;) ......but Jello:eek:

Cath:D

Definitely grits!! Look disgusting and the little taste I had of them was yuk!!

Also salt beef - didn't have it in Orlando but in New York - didn't like that at all!

Haven't tried US baked beans of the chocolate (not sure I will try either of them now!) but pretzels I do like! :)

Astrid

I've never tried the grits - just the look of them has turned my stomach! Oh and I agree about that gravy, yukkk!! Certainly not for brekkie. That's the only thing I don't like really. I don't like Hershey bars either :D

Agree with you on these Ad, they are disgusting::yes::

for me it has to be any american chocolate. bleagh cant stand the stuff it makes me wretch

American Popcorn....whats with the salt? Euuurrghh.

Hershey Bars. Mega YUK.

Rest of the family complains about the "sweet" tasting bread.

Used to hate the Cinnamon in everything, but have aclimatised to that and now love it!!

Allie5 where did you eat the popcorn over there and find it salty? every place i've had it over there they tend not to do salted but instead do buttered popcorn which i LLOOOOOVVEEEEE ::yes::

disney popcorn = best in the world IMO heh. i just love the stuff.

and yes the sweet bread over there is horrible. i always avoid it unless im having french toast somewhere.

cinnamon i was used to as my mum used to put it in apple pies when i was a kid so im partial to it.

Hi

Two things we ( OK I ) picked up from Publix to try.....

1) Beef Jerky - tastes what I imagine a dog chew would be like

2) Boiled green peanuts - an absolute bargain at $2 for three cans - should still be two cans lurking in our villa cupboard for the next unfortunate visitor!!

Mark

processed jerky from a supermarket is only fit to use as shoe leather. proper fresh jerky from a butchers is absolute heaven!

I agree with the bread, we ended up buying french sticks all the time in Walmart. A lady was giving out samples at a stall in the supermarket covered with strawberry butter, not nice. We also brought home some beef jerky called Slim Jim, for my dad (his name is Jim and we thought it would be funny). He was not impressed and neither was the dog when we tried feeding it to her. But kept us all laughing for ages!

Curious about what kind of bean you had. I think they're probably the kind we use to make chili. We do have baked beans, with brown sugar and pork, but they don't taste the same as your Heinz.

Grits are definitely an acquired taste, many Americans can't stomach them either.

We have something called "Kettle Corn" over here. I think you can buy it in the grocery stores, but it's become a staple at fairs. It's salted and sugar-coated popcorn. Sounds strange, but it's very good. A little too good.

I must only be able to remember the nice things :)

But I do agree about salted popcorn :(

Olaf,

I ask for popcorn at the cimema sweet and salted mixed together. The popcorn you mentioned sounds perfect for me!::yes::

I'll be looking out for that in October!:hyper:

Kazzie, don't look for it in theaters. We're rather wedded to our salted and swimming in butter (or at least what passes for butter) popcorn.

I don't get it though. What's wrong with salted popcorn? You can tell me. I can take it. ;)
