Made the konk coolers last weekend, they were GREAT, now I was thinking of making my other favorite cruise drink the bahama mama.. anyone know the recipe?

Don't know Disney's exact recipe--but being a bartender this is the one I use: - 3/4 oz. shot malibu rum (or any coconut rum-- parrot bay is good too)
- 3/4 light rum (bacardi)
-top w/ oj and pineapple juice
-add grenadine for color
-to give it an extra kick--float 151
Good luck!!!
Amanda

p.s. this ones not on the ship as a drink of the day, but it's good!! Make it frozen--Bahama Breeze: Fill blender w/ ice for one drink, add 1 1/4 shot midori, 1 1/4 shot banana liquer, top w/ pina colada mix and pineapple juice. Blend till smooth. Should be a pretty pale green. Garnish w/ a flag(orange slice and a maraschino cherry w/ a pick through them). yummy!

here you go plutoJudy it's really GREAT!

Results from my Konk Kooler experiments
I got back last Saturday from two weeks at the beach ( house and laundry are now clean!) and while there I tried out some different konk kooler recipes on my best freind ( who never had one before) and my DH (who has).
Both were very close to what I had on the Wonder, it has been 3 months since my cruise, but I knew I had the flavor right.
First recipe
1/2 can cream of coconut
3 ounces light rum
3 ounces dark rum
1/2 of a 12oz can frozen passion fruit juice concentrate(Welches)
4 oz of orange juice
2-3 cups of ice
Add all together in a blender until very fine and smooth

Second recipe
1 12oz can Bacardi frozen pina colada mix
3 oz light rum
3 oz dark rum
1/3 of a 12oz can frozen pineapple-oj concentrate
2 oz of passion fruit liquer
2-3 cups of ice

When we ran out of passion fruit juice concentrate and could not find anymore, we went to the liquer store and found the liquer.
The first recipe is the best but the second was very good too. My freind now has a new favorite drink! CHEERS!

A Bahama Mama drink??? I didn't know my name was a drink?? (J/K...I really didn't know it when it was given to me, but I learned about it later.) I'd love to have that drink, now if only somone would *make* it for me!!

Here's the Bahama Mama recipie I was given years ago, especially good if your not the coconut flavor person:
1 shot Bacardi Rum
1 shot Grand Marnier (I never could spell it)
1 shot Banana Liquer
Add fruit juice (Hawaiian Punch works great) and mix.

looks like I will be doing some experimenting this weekend :)

I was a bartender for 10 year before I retired to become a Mommy. Bahama Mama's are at the top of my favorite drink list.

The way I make them is pretty much the same way gassmandy does but with one difference I use Myer's Dark Rum instead of the Light Bacardi Rum. Don Lorenzo Coconut Rum is my choice of coconut rums. Shake it well, serve over ice in a tall slender glass. I don't add that extra kick either but it does sound good.

Here's 2 nice and esy drink for the summer.

Melon Ball:
A hefty shot of Midori Melon Liq.
A shot of your favorite vodka
Pineapple juice
serve on the rocks

Apple Cran on the rock:
2 or 3 ozs of Dekuyper Apple Barrel Schnapps and cranberry juice over ice.

Ann, can I come over and help you experiment?!!!!!!!

Rae

Sure can Rae, infact just hop on Red and ride on over :)

Ok, so as long as we're on the topic - how about that yummy thing they served at the sailaway from Port Canaveral. I think it was called a "Bon Voyage"? It was frozen, had something berryish and also something sort Pina Colada - it was layered.

Any help?

TIA
Deb

I think the Bon Voyage is a pina colada and a strawberry daiquiri layered one on top of the other????

My favorite trail guide, Kelly, asked me, "Why would anyone ruin good rum with all that other stuff?"! I only wish I knew the answer!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd love to ride Red over - but for now I'm just in the corral with him -

Rae

If it is it makes sense why they call it a Bon Voyage--since those are typically named--Pain in the ***!!! Because that's what they are to make!!! Taste great though!

Obviously she has your good taste in vacations though!!

Rae

Thank you Rae--actually he RARELY drinks but he sure knew how to throw back that specialty shot they had a year and a half ago on our 4 day cruise in Tritons!!!!!
