Shouldn't there be some sort of warning on the Patch boxes that jeans and the patch don't mix??

I am talking about Otho Evra here.....I am thinking of giving it up and trying the ring instead.....

any thoughts?

hated the patch for that exact reason. Dont even want to think about the ring- tried the Merina IUD, hate the pill, and am now back on Depo...which i hate too..thankfully DBF had a vasectomy so I may not go on anything...only downfall is i havent had my period in YEARS because of depo, and I"m not looking forward to it.

Hum, I have no idea what you are talking about! I was on the patch for over two years. Talking about regular blue jeans?? Wearing them? I never had a problem.

:)

I wear low rise, or mens jeans, and placing the patch on my lower abdomen, never worked. I hated it anywhere else, but hated the jeans rubbing on it when I moved, stood, sat, bent, etc... Almost as bad as the stupid fuzz thats where the patch was when you take it off.

3 weeks on it, thats all I lasted!

What alternatives are there? My sis came home with "the ring" the other day - a once a month application type deal. I can't take the pill - and no permanent fixtures are taking place any time soon.....:)

What did you not like about this? My ob has suggested it?

wasnt me that didnt like it. My body rejected and "released" it before the 30 day string check. I had horrible bleeding for about 2 weeks- probably 14-28 days after the insertion, and when I went in at 30 days, it was no longer in place.

I've been happy with depo, the 4x a year shot, however there are serious side effects that some people have. I have some of them, though none serious...

OMG - ohhhhh nooooo.....I keep "thinking" I am pg....but NO I'm on the patch!

Good luck BTW!! My DD will be one on 2/10/06!!

Do a search...there was a recent thread about IUDs, and most women find it suits them well. I think another statistic I read elsewhere was that about 96 percent of users really liked them. There are two different kinds, a 10 year and a five year version. The 5 year has low level hormones like the mini pill. With this version, many women find they don't have periods at all after a few months, although there is some cramping after it's first put in the body.

But after that, nothing to think about for five or 10 years! (Unless you want to have it removed to have another baby.)

Your right about the Mirena having a side effect of no periods...the copper one, is best for those with very heavy bleeding, cramps etc...

I went with the Mirena because it was so similar to the Depo injections that I had hoped my side effects would be the same. Unfortunatly my body rejected it. And that was after the $300 I paid....not covered by insurance.

Sorry it wasn't for you. It's fantastic not to have to even think about birth control for five or 10 years at a time!

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you mean. Do you mean all the time on hormones? Lots of women are on the pill for 10 years or more at a time...And the 10 year version has no hormones at all.

If you are worried that it is not healthy to skip periods that is no problem either.
As a matter of fact -some people speculate that why we have so many GYN problems is that modern women have so many periods!
100 years ago they would have been pregnant or nursing (or dead)!
So they didn't have as many problems as we have now -at least that is one theory

yeah, but you only have to remember the patch 1x a week, in some cases you have to remember the condom 4-5 times a night :confused3 Heck, i only have to remember a shot 1x every 3 months LOL and they send me a post card reminding me!

yea but since its so much neater its well worth having to deal with it more often...plus I hav a thing about the woman always having to be the one protected..let the guys worry about it once in awhile!

EXACTLY! As posted before, DBF is shooting blanks, so I think this last shot was my last!

We actually had this discussion a while back when my shot was due. All the options for women, yet the man, the only thing he can do is use a condom or get a vasectomy. no shot, no patch, no pill etc. Its either mess with it every time, or have it shoot blanks forever. not much of a happy medium!
