Since I have never been to WDW, and I am going in Sept 05 :teeth:

Please, please, PLEASE share some of your best and worst experiences.

And you bet your patootie when I DO go and come back, you will get LOTS of stories

gr8tpanther--how long are you staying and where are you staying? Are you taking those darling kids with you?

You're going to have a great time! Just don't try and do everything or you'll wear yourself out.

My favorite thing of going to WDW is the fact that my 13 yo dd will hold my hand, ride "baby rides" along with the thrill ones, and generally act like a kid again. She loves Primetime Diner because Mom has to eat all her veggies. And I love the look on her face as we ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority for the 20th time. She loves it every time.

WDW holds so many traditions for us...things we HAVE to do every time. You'll have a great time making your own traditions while you're there.

Have fun planning!

Our tradtion is to always have dinner at the castle on our first night. Makes us really feel like we're "there".

Remember, take some time to just step back and take it all in. The sights, the sounds, the smells. Enjoy the buildings and the flowers and the water. So many people spend so much time at WDW rushing around that they miss the simple touches that make it such a great place.

We also like talking with the CMs in the World Showcase about their native lands. :) They are always interesting and friendly.

How exciting!! We are going back for our second visit in May '05...hard to wait, isn't it? I guess my best story is that it REALLY IS AS INCREDIBLE AS YOU IMAGINE! I had been two or three times at various stages of my life, but the most exciting thing was thinking about how excited my girls (then 7 and 9) would be. All my dreams came true as they stood outside the MK on our first morning and saw the opening train come into the station with the characters. They were totally into the magic every single moment. They'll be 9 and 11 next time and they are already so excited and ready for more magic! Have fun wishing and dreaming!

Oh I wish I were you!!!! To see WDW for the first time again would be absolute Heaven! But, believe me, it's still heavenly time after time.:D

Good advice to not try and do everything. It's simply not possible. And it causes major meltdowns, especially with kids. Do yourself a big favor and take a spin on the monorail as soon as you get there. It's a great way to preview the place and the ride is smooth and comfortable.

And by the time you get off and get ready to hit the Magic Kingdom, you'll be nearly jumping out of your skin!:Pinkbounc

gr8tpanther--there you have it. The ultimate guide to WDW--from delswife. You'll love it!

Well, I am doing 2 trips within a week... my DD11 HATES to travel and our trips with her are always miserable, so... my plan is to take DD10 down for like 5 days (no definite reservations or anything YET) and then come back, fly DD11 down for like a day so she can see it and go to Magic Kingdom. I don't want DD11 to miss out on seeing Disney, so this is the best solution I have come up with so that they can BOTH get to see it.

Plan is to stay at POP cause I am a fanatic about reliving things and I think that would be an awesome resort to stay at so that I can see things that I haven't seen since their era!

I am buying 7 day hopper plus passes so that I can use them for both trips.

Just an idea...maybe you should do the one day with DD11 first , just in case she decides she loves it. :) My BF hates to travel too, and with that in mind, we had only gotten 5 day PH passes for our last trip and ended up having to buy a couple of one day passes because he just HAD to go to Epcot again. :)

We are driving down with DD10 and I am flying DD11 down and coming back hopefully all in one day. I know, I dream big, lol, but I am sure I will be wiped out by then. And DD11 will just be happy to see it, probably wouldn't even HAVE to go to a park, she isn't much for parks. But, I myself am going to enjoy seeing it again.
:teeth:

Just be prepared for Disney Magic to hit you at any given time, without warning, its an amazing feeling.

Hang in there, it will be time to go before you know it.:D

I get excited going into a Disney Store, lol, I can just SEE me at the parks!!!

We have only been once so far....so I can only give you the best and worst of one trip.

The BEST: We were finally THERE. Awwwwwww My most special moment came in Epcot World Showcase. We were in England and DS was playing with the train table thingy they have there. Well Pooh and Tigger came out and we were the Only ones around. So I took John over to meet them (like 15 feet away). But he didnt want to leave his trains. So he goes up to Tigger and took his hand and led Tigger back to the trains. Tigger and Pooh played trains with my ds. I just can describe what an incredible DISNEY moment that was.

Then there was our dinner at Crystal Palace. I can not emphasize enough how great a character meal is, just for photo opps alone.

We love those pictures.

Our worst experiences: DS (2 at time) got really sick. Included an ER visit. He had a very high fever. Which in turn made us miss a Dismeet we had planned with a couple of other Disers.

I can't wait to go back in December.

This past trip, I lost my hat somewhere between space mountain and buzz lightyear. No big deal. I go to city hall after Wishes and speak to a CM about lost and found. She said they were waiting for the lost and found bag to arrive from tomorrowland and that I should wait on the bench.

I wait.

after 30 minutes goes by, I go up to this CM and say, "maybe I should come back tomorrow". She then takes this little paper book (kinda like post-its) from her desk, takes fiancee and I to a store on main street and knocks vehemently, yet politely, to get the door open.

After someone unlocks the door for us, she takes us to the hat section and tells me to pick any hat I wanted. WOW! I mean, it was my fault for losing my hat, and she's giving me a hat because she didn't want us to wait any longer and ruin our night...that, and how hectic it'll be with Frances on the way. That post-it looking thing, by the way, were vouchers almost...they gave her the power to eat up the cost of the thing she was "purchasing"

If that wasn't enough, she finds out that I proposed to fiance (then dgf) a day before so she insists on taking us into another store and giving us bride and groom mickey hats, as an engagement gift. :)

I have a great picture of her and the two of us but wasn't sure if I should post...I don't want her to get in trouble.

Her kindness really made our trip...Frances couldn't damper our trip after that. What a great CM

I have heard that the people who work at Disney are AWESOME and basically bend over backwards to make your trips more memorable...

From what I am hearing from my DISer pals, WOW!!!

Ok, WHO is going SOON that I can be a stow-away with?

Have you read Delswife's report or Welcome to Mousterpiece theater? It not only has several points of interest mentioned, but is the most witty display of the dis functional family at it's finest! I can only hope Delswife's brother in law marries the Beast and they all go with her brother and sister in law, someone could be killed! It may be Del- as he has been threatened by the Beast- (see "Oh my gosh meet the beast" thread)!! Set aside four hours and get reading!!!

Magic Kingdom is the best park!! Buzz light year and haunted mansion are favorites! At MGM I like both the fifties primetime cafe and the drive in one!
