HOw much do you spend when you go to WDW camping - or at least what your budget is (& howq mnay days)

I never to see the terrible numbers & see if we can swing it...we have NO TIME to save - just found out dh has vacation so I doubt we can even get into FW & really not sure we can come up with the $ we may have to just camp locally for our vacation - but I thought I'd check out the numbers anyway...

I keep a spreadsheet of all costs and when we went over Xmas last year the following is what we spent for just me and DW plus one CS meal for 5 at Teppen Edo, and 2 CS meals for 3.

Total time gone 12/12/2007 till 1/27/2008

Fuel - $696 (include 4 RT to airport), approx 900 miles from home to FW.

Camping to/from - $100 (includes one nite free at friends and 2 night at MWR
NAS Jax $28 total)

FW site from 12/16 thru 1/24 - $3000

Two adult passports and one DDE - $974

Food - $1300 includes 13 TS meals at WDW (including Spriti of Aloha, CRT lunch, Narcoosee and Bistro dinners), 3 CS meals at WDW, 2 off site evening meals, and around $200 spent at WW for food. We also brought a lot of food from home stuffing our 7cu ft refer in the trailer in addition to about 75 lbs more frozen food in or separate NORCOLD freezer.

Gifts/misc - $1200

This year we will actually be at FW from 10/20 till 1 Dec and the following is what I am budgeting.

Camping to/from - $150
Food - $1500 (again includes about 13 TS and a couple of CS meals at WDW)
Fuel - $1000 (200 gal at $5/gal)
FW site - $2200 (includes 30 days with AAA discount of $12.69/day)
Gifts/misc - $1000

Total planned budget with some slop $7,000 for 41 nights at WDW and 5 nights on the road going and coming back.

GOOD GOLLY! ;)

obvioulsy y'all are retired?

we are excited to have 9 days off for vacation can't even FATHOM having more time than that....

Budget, what is that? :lmao:

I am not very good at that. I usually just spend what I want within reason and worry about it later. It is just the two of us so it isn't a big deal.

This is my estimate for this year (keep in mind it is just FWGirl, me and the Wonder Beagle and we only do the parks a couple of days and have tickets left over from last year).

Gas - $600
Campsites down and back - $100
Food - $100/day for 12 days = $1200
FW - $600
Kennel - $150
Tolls - $20
Misc - $500

So about $3200 for a 10 day vacation at the Fort with 2 travel days. We generally don't spend the $100 per day for food since we shop at Publix and eat alot at the camper, but it allows us to splurge once in a while for one of our favorite restaurants. We also don't do a lot for souveniers anymore - just some little trinkets we may want for the camper or the kitchen or gifts. Park tickets would add up quite a bit, but we get ours at a slight discount at SOG and we have friends who are CM's and are able to get us in for free, but we seldom take advantage of this. We don't do the golfcarts but instead take our bikes. I sometimes will play a round of golf at Oak Trails which is about 75 bucks for 9 holes. Usually the CM's wave the fee for the second 9 if I play 18. This would come out of our miscellaneous fund.

WE are passholders so we do not have to pay for tickets but here is how my 10 day budget goes. I have 3 kids under 10. We eat dinner out about 5 nights or so. The disney dining experience card helps us save $$$ on dining out!.WE always eat lunch and breakfast in the RV and bring food from home. We also tow our own golf cart.

$1250. 125 a day x 10 days (5 nights dining out, snacks, trinkets & little stuff)
$800. site
$200 gas

BYOB!! Thats the trick:thumbsup2

We budget about $2000 for a regular week long trip. We are a party of 4 and that will usually cover everything with a few disney gift cards left over for the next trip.

Yes we are with both kids grown and with no debts including a house payment and being retired military health costs are nil. Even when working and with the two sons we would try and go around 2 weeks in Dec and another two weeks over the summer the next year so we could max out on the APs by getting two trips out of them.

WE will be there for 15 days in oct the 12 -27 we now we will probably spend about 1000.00 for gas alone from Nj to fla and back we have aps from last year when we went in Nov so tickets are paid for fw is around 50 a night so about 750 for camping plus food we eat at camper in morning lunch is counter service and usually lite dinners are back at camper or something simple we don't do the fancy places a fancy place for me is the hoop dee doo thats about as fancy as i like give me a buffet and i'm happy so food if you eat back at your camp is a lot cheaper but its fun to eat out once in awhile

We are from SC and don't travel as far as most of these folks, are only driving an economy type car (tent camping at FW) and don't leave WDW while we're there, so here's ours. We'll be going Oct 4 - 8, only 5 days (the economy way) and only 3 park days - fam of 3:

Gas - $150.00
FW & 3 day park tix for 3 - $841.09
Food - (supplying our own breakfasts and some snacks) $100/day = $500.00
Misc - $200.00

So that's less than $1,700.00 for a very satisfying WDW trip for our litle family. And the $100/day food for us is really padding it, we probably won't use that much. You can do it if you really plan ahead - we will have the majority of this paid for by the time we get there, and the rest paid off shortly after we get back. Just takes planning. ;)

BTW, how many in your family - how long do you want to stay - and when??? All those things make a big difference.

Of course that doesn't include the cost of Kungaloosh!

Well, if I added that in, it would have doubled the cost of the vacation. I save by mooching beer from unsuspecting neighbors who have outdoor refrigerators.

I grew up going to FW and it was a cheap trip for my parents. I got married in 2000 and took my wife for her first time in 2002. Our week and a half trip with fuel and food coming from Texas was $1200 bucks. It has gone up every time since then. Our up coming trip for 2 weeks is going to run around $3000 give or take a couple of hundred. But fuel is the main reason for the price increase. The first time I pulled our 5er to FW it cost us about $350 in fuel. Last November $around $700, up coming trip around $1000. I miss $1.18 a gal. diesel.

We just came back from 10 days at FW. We have 4 kids ages 2-14, and AP passes. That saves us a ton of $$$$$. Now we just budget them in each year. Our gas in June cost $1200  That was rough to swallow, but we ate in the tt a lot, which saved us money, we didn't have to deal with the crowds, and we got to spend more time at the Fort--biking, fishing, etc. We ate out once every 1-2 days. (And we snacked while at the parks!) I find that for us, planning in advance helps--you kind of have to with 4 kids! We're going back in August. (27 hours in the car!!!!!!!!) Good luck!

Other than gas, site, and admission, we spend very little ... eat out once every 2-3 days and a few souvenirs. I carefully plan our meals before we leave home and freeze as much as possible. Throw things on the grill or in the microwave. Take our own golf cart.
