OK - so who is watching Extreme Couponing?

She would only get the one coupon insert that way and one coupon for each item.

Yes, but she's getting zero coupon inserts now, and she seemed willing to buy the paper but just didn't want to have to go out to get it.

what about the lady who had to look wealthy when she shopped?!
And the fact that she did NOT! At least, I didn't think she looked any different than most of the shoppers I see, and she actually looked a little ridiculous in those stiletto boots and big hair.

:earsboy:

I don't want to subscribe to the paper at all. If I know there will be enough good coupons to make it worth it I might go out and buy it. I just wonder if I can do it solely on internet coupons. I guess I will find out!

I am going to make a list of the items that we would be looking for so I have a guideline of items to look for. I am brand loyal to a lot of things like shampoo and toothpaste so really I am not looking to stock up on things, just shop smarter. Right now we just buy what we need when we need it, regardless of price. If I can at least start looking for coupons and sales that match up then hopefully I can start saving. 1 starts college in just a few years and were are starting to panic!

I found a bunch of links on the budget board to add to the ones you gave me Imzadi so I have been reading like crazy! My sister is trying to figure out what she wants to use to organize her coupons- she may spend more than she saves in a year on something to keep it all organized!:rotfl2: And i made a new email address last night to use.

Really keep your eye on Rite Aid's Free After Rebate items each week. Walgreen's too. I think CVS might have good deals, too. (We don't get the good, regional circular that everyone else gets, in the rest of the country. We have a 4 page, over priced NYC version, so I don't get the deals I've seen posted in CVS threads.)

I prefer to get Crest when possible. I have like 4 full size tubes of Crest toothpaste I have gotten from Rite Aid's Free After Rebate, over the last few months.

People are only allowed ONE item per household address as the rebate check is sent to one address, and still I have been able to stock up on one free item here & there. (Not a big family living here.) Their Rebate program seems to be for brand new items that the manufacturer's want people to try and hopefully will then convert to and be brand loyal to the new stuff, even if it is within the same brand.

For some reason, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and shampoos, as well as some OTC meds, are always part of their free rebates. I never knew there were so many new improvements to toothpaste, (but they still taste the same as the old flavor, :rolleyes1) or "improvements" to toothbrushes. :confused3 I have about 4 free toothbrushes stocked up, too.

I was getting several full size bottles Garnier shampoos, when the Garnier brand first came out, and they were heavily promoting that brand. The Free After Rebate for Garnier was like every other week. I used them for hand soaps in a pump bottle instead as I don't use that shampoo.

For the past several months, one of the rebates have been for a new eye moisture drops. Its a new company called Blink Tears. I have dry eyes since having had Lasik done. I was using more expensive drops that my Dr. gave me. I figure it wouldn't hurt to try the bottle of free Blink drops. I found it actually works just as well as the more expensive drops. So yes, I am one of their successful converts, :wave2: once they stop giving them free after rebate. (This is why I can understand why manufacturers are willing to give free stuff away, and they know they WILL make money off that gamble) Blink actually offered the Free After Rebate 5 separate weeks in the last few months, so I am actually stocked up for 6 months. :woohoo:

I know that some people have a really super organized system. But, if you both aren't going to be heavily couponing, you might try my "system":

I would get both the Smart Source & Red Plum inserts and put them both together, for the same week, into a pile. The following week, I'd just stack the next weeks, then the next, etc.

When you go to a couponing thread for your store and someone lists a deal you want, usually they lists which insert the coupon it is in and which week. (The inserts list the date in tiny, tiny fine print along the spine of the insert. :magnify: ) If the person doesn't list which insert it is in, there is the Taylortown Master List, I linked to previously, which one can find which week & insert the coupon is in. On your computer, hit CTRL + F, and in the search box, type in the product name.

I would just dig down through the pile, and find that week's insert. Clip the few coupons I needed. Closed up the insert and put them back into the same place, in the same order the pile.

At the end of about 3 months, which is usually when that cycle of coupons expire, I would just go to the bottom of the pile and toss those weeks that are expired.

I didn't do all the fancy binder systems that a lot more organized people do. I never bought that much. Only multiples of several key items. Those binder people alphabetize, categorize, and have to periodically go through their binders and pouches and manually remove all the expired coupons. Personally, that was too much work for me.

If your DSis is able to snag coupon inserts for both of you, I suggested in a previous post to just go into a couple Starbucks on Sunday. In the sitting area, she might be able to snag like 4 coupon inserts, (possibly more,) at each Starbucks. Go at about 11 am, after several people have sat, had their am coffee, read and left their papers for others. Starbucks usually has a basket or little table out for people to drop off their papers for others to read. When the pile gets large, an employee routinely goes around and tosses out the papers. They really don't care if people go in to take the inserts without buying coffee.

I get the Sunday paper only because it's not guaranteed the papers at the stores will have coupons. From what I've read, and experienced, the newspapers fill the home deliveries with the inserts first, and then whatever remains goes into the store newspapers.

I think it would be more cost effective to order the coupons you want from a clipping service than to print them from your computer, using your ink and paper. Also, check out your stores internet coupon policies. Some may give you trouble by not accepting them, or limiting the number of internet coupons you can use in one transaction, or won't accept the coupon if the $ amount is too high. Some stores won't take an internet coupon if it's for a free product even if it's printed directly from the brand's site.

Try cheapnewspapers.com to see if your regional newspaper offers discounted subscriptions. I was able to elect sunday only-once you have the sub you may be able to arrange multiples at that same rate.

My coupon group arranged a discount sub for multiples to be delivered so I get 4 for $0.50 ea.

Anyone visit hip2save.com? I love that site! the site also tells you what coupons will be in the sunday newspaper on saturday!
