Here is my basic plan for my DL trip. Hopefully I will be accompanied by my best friend once I surprise her on Fri with the news for her b-day.

Oct 19 fly from Toronto to LAX (soooo $$$$$$$)
-arrive at the Candy Inn and depending on what flight etc just head for DTD or walk over ot the Garden Walk for Cheesecake Factory and try to adjust to the time change

Oct 20 My Birthday!!!!!
Hit Disneyland for my b-day fun card and Early Entry and do as many rides as we can!!!!
Jungle Cruise
Mr Toad
Alice
Teacups
Indiana
HM
Space Mtn
Spl Mtn
BTMRR
Pixie Hollow
Princess FF
Nemo
iasw
Matterhorn
Pirates
etc etc etc

Now here's the tricky part the rest is all up in the air I want to do a USH day/LA night tour but can't decide which day to go. Plus I also want to do the Halloween party @ DCA so what days should I do what??? Here's what i have so far but I need help to know if this is good or not.

Oct 21 DCA dinner at Ariel's
Oct 22 USH/LA night tour
Oct 23DCA/DL (hopefully Fantasmic???)
Oct 24 DL/DCA for characters and fireworks

I was thinking of doing the USH day on the Sat because they say you can see Wisteria Lane on the weekends but not during the week cause they are taping does anyone know if this is true??? I would love to see it. But don't want to miss anything at DL and like having my last day there. I don't know what to do lol I guess something to consider is how EASY it will be to get to and from the CCI and DCA>DL and vice versa.

I would not go straight to get your funcard. Take advantage of the emptier park. AS it gets more crowded, get the card. Be prepared for a WAIT at PFF

I think the dates that you have set to do specific things are just fine ! If you do want to get a lot of the Fantasyland stuff done on your birthday though, I say go there first before it gets a little more crowded in there later in the day!

If you're doing PFF just to see princesses and you're doing Ariel's Grotto, I recommend doing PFF after Ariel's Grotto or skipping PFF entirely.

Ariel's Grotto has more characters than the PFF without an insanely long wait in line (I have seen 2 hour waits for the PFF on days when Disneyland is not insanely crowded).

If a princess/female heroine you want to see is not at Ariel's, then you could hope for the best at the PFF's luck of the draw(you don't know who will be there when your turn comes).

In terms of seeing princesses, the only way that the PFF is a better option than the character meal at Ariel's Grotto is the cost. The character interaction is great at both places.

The most important Princess for me is Ariel so we will prob skip PFF and make sure we do Pixie Hollow. As for Fantasyland we will hit everything we can there first thing in the morning. Although I don't get why everybody loves PPF so much. I guess cause I never went as a kid so it was like yeah ok and....??? If there's a line for that no problem. I am excited about Mr Toad's Wild Ride and Alice.

Now should I keep the USH/LA day in the week or move it to our last day on sat????

Personally, I would rather finish up in Disney so I would do Universal/L.A. earlier in the week. That said, there may be less traffic if you were to go there on Saturday. Ending at Disney is usually ending on a high note though.

I think a lot of guests really like the PFF because it's a great way to see 3 princesses at once without the expense of a character meal. This can be especially true of families with boys and girls or a wide range of ages. If the boys don't care to meet princesses, families can divide and conquer. Likewise, if older kids and teens want to go on rides, they can split up instead of forcing everyone to go to a character meal that may have limited appeal to some guests within that party. While character meals are a lot of fun, they're also expensive,which may not work for some guests. And even if cost isn't an issue, character meals are best enjoyed when you're in the spirit of the meal, which means not being afraid to interact with the characters.

PFF is really only an issue for guests who want to see a specific princess. I once overheard a family say that they had stood in the PFF line 4 times in an effort to see Cinderella. If they were lucky, the last time was the charm for them.

I wish I knew. I used to think that Disneyland made it easier to see the characters than WDW, but that is certainly no longer the case.

Our experiences have been that DL does make it easier to see characters. I know they have the meeting areas at Animal Kingdom but they were always the same characters at most of the meet and greet areas. I love that DL gives you a chance to meet a wider variety of characters
