Ok so this is very odd but I am intrigued....

We'll be going on ToT for the first time next week and I'm soooooo scared.

I just don't know what to expect!

Has anyone here been on Mystery Castle at Phantasialand in Germany? Because I think it's kind of similar to that style of ride and I'm wondering how it compares in the scary stakes. I'm sure the theming will be much better.

Eeee so excited and frightened at the same time, LOL! ;)

What kind of restraint does it have? Are they individual seat belts or a bar which comes down?

Never done ToT or any ride like it, but it'll be one of the first rides I queue for after BTM as soon as I get to the park in a week! :D

It's an individual seat belt, so it has an inch or two of give in it (enough for your bottom to lift off the seat occasionally on the main drop, but no more than that).

I haven't been on Mystery Castle but after looking at it on youtube I reckon ToT will be less scary/extreme. You only have a lap belt [strap] on ToT and it doesnt rise or fall as far as MC by the look of it. You're right though about the theming...it's the best that you get anywhere.

the thing to remember with ToT is it has alot of various combinations so its possible to ride it many times and not have the same ride. always keeps you guessing :)

That's true about the WDW version but not about the DCA/WDS versions.

I think there are slight differences in the WDS one, but it just depends on which lift you get into, as to what you get.

The differences were very subtle though, something as simple as going up or down at the first major movement, depending on where you started from.

It would be really good if they did add the random drops - it would make the ride that little bit more thrilling for repeat riders, as once you know the pattern, it's not quite as thrilling because you're expecting to move in certain directions so you brace yourself for it a bit.

thats why I just go limp and let it throw me around. more fun this way hehe

You are all so brave!!

Do you ever get an english version at WDS? As I thought I read before we went that they asked, but we didn't get asked and jsut got the french.

Was still petrified either way!!

when i was on it the CM told everyone to check their belts then he said to me 'except you' and pointed above me head and thats where i saw there was a big gap in the top of the life above my seat :rotfl: i wonder if you would lift up enough to go through it if there weren't belts lol

Yup we got one english version....after about 10 french versions!

It was the same for me - I rode it quite a few times in January and last month and the only English version I had was my last ride last month

I always saw the French version, but it doesnt bother me as it makes it even spookier not knowing what the hell the guy is saying. Though i got the general gist as its similar to Disney Hollywood Studios.
