(See update at end! woot!)

Next week my GF and I are heading to WDW. This is my who-knows-how-many-times trip, but her first (she's very excited about the trip). Anyway, tuesday I'm planning on "popping the question". You guys here on the 'dis are really the first to know...even my family that is joining us halfway thru the week won't know 'til they get there, LOL! Just made the arangements to pick up the ring later this week, weather permitting!

Anyway, we have dinner ressies at Narcoossee's around 8:40. My plan is to head to the Poly at 7, have a few drinks and go to the beach to watch Wishes....sometime during the Wishes the whole dropping to one knee thing will happen. Whew. Sweaty palms just thinking about it LOL! The walk from the poly beach to Narc's should only take 20 minutes, tops.

My question is this, so far all my planning has been done on my own, and you've read the extent of it LOL. Would Disney help out in any way to make it more special? I don't know what I have in mind, but would it be worth a call and to whom would I direct the call?? At the very least having a photographer there would be excellent, to capture the moment with the fireworks behind us....but just getting to the question will be the big thing for me! Anything else would just be icing on the cake....!

1st of all Congrats! Make sure you post the pics and come back and tell us all about it :)

Now, I know wdw floral has some engagment packages where they will deliver glass slippers and such right to you..,http://www.disneyflorist.com
Call them and see what they can do about photos too... If not I saw a great proposal on here where a guy set up his gorilla-pod and set the timer on his digital to take a series of pics. He told his GF he wanted to get a pic of them with the fireworks going off and then he popped the question :)

Also, call Narcoosees and let them know you'll be newly engaged... who knows maybe they'll send you a free dessert or something :)

My DD's fiance' proposed at DL last month. He had called them before we all went down to see if they could arrange something, but they really weren't able to. However, once we were down there, they were very helpful and the proposal was extra special in part because of what they did to make it magical! I'm quite sure they'll do pictures for you. :goodvibes

Best wishes to you!!

Awww good luck!

She'll love it no matter what happens or how you do it.

My DF was so nervous when he proposed last week he couldnt open the box right and forgot to get down on one knee!! Bless him! :)

But I wouldn't change how it happened for anything.

Thanks all for the words of encouragement. I am very nervous about it, but I think it'll all happen so fast I'm hoping I won't have time to get nervous!

Can I ask what they did to make it magical? I've read about the "Just Engaged" pins, but was there more they did?

i know this could be too late now, but this website.. http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/ are brilliant at planning events at Disney. They co ordinate with Disney and can create some amazing packages tailored to you or the person recieving the gift!

If you wanted to use them, you have to fill out a form explaning what the occasion is, who the recipient is, the date, their interests, ect- then they email you back with their ideas! If you did want to include giftsofalifetime in your proposal, you can ask that it be done in short notice- im sure they would love to help.

good luck with it anyway!

You could always call disney and pre-order a cake for your table that would say Marry Me...
Ive seen alot of different proposals, call them and see what they can do!

Here are some ideas that my df had before he proposed...he chickend out since he heard horror stories of the people on the plane taking the ring etc...

First, he was going to do it during wishes. He was going to say to me (In the b eginnig when Jimminey Cricket is talking) to close my eyes and make a wish, and then When he would tell me to open them, He would have been on one knee...

Then, he was going to pack a bunch of rose petals (the plastic ones) and his own glass slipper. He was going to pretend he left his phone in the hotel and then set it all up on the bed... .and then when we would have gotten back he would have proposed...

Another way he was thinking was, we would go to the old fashioned ice cream shoppe, and he would tell me to get a table. Then when he was inside he was going to order the large banana sundae and explain to them that he was going to propose and that he needed an extra cone broken and was going to place it pointed side up with th e ring over it...

There were a few more but I promise anything you can come up with you can do...

OOO ooo i forgot one of my favorites...

DF was going to pre-order the mickey hats with the names on the back in Magic Kingdom.... He was going to call before we got there and have mine say "Marry Me Jenny" and then when we got there he was going to pretend to call and order two mickey hats so I wouldn't think anything of it. In advance he would have called that morning to say that he was planning on proposing after they give him the hat etc...

When we would have gotten there he would have asked for our order and had the woman say "I think we may have made a mistake" and hand the hat to df who would then say "I think she would like that" and when I woul dhave read it it would have said marry me...

I love the "close your eyes and make a wish" deal...I just might steal that line...

BTW, she absolutely expecting something while down there...and it is definitly going forward as the credit card was charged and the ring picked up today...oy! :faint:

It worked for me! I said yes to the "close your eyes and make a wish"... anything you do will be special. If she is expecting something thats ok, most brides "have a hunch" and we still say yes!

AWESOME! congrats first off!!!! I saw your Lehigh Valley location and thats where I am from/live! No matter what you do it will be amazing because first off your in Disney!!! and your getting engaged!....Definitley get the pins--that is soo cute because everyone will compliment you etc. not only that Cast Members will see that and do as much for you as they can(get you to the front of the line of things, get special seating for example-Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spect.)
I know this because of being a former Disney Cast Member--also they started something new where if you call down I believe just to the reservations etc. esp. maybe the resort of where your staying they will deck out your room for you at a theme for example: wedding, romantic etc. So thats an option as well ! Have fun , good luck and congrats!

Can I ask what they did to make it magical? I've read about the "Just Engaged" pins, but was there more they did?

When DD and her fiance' were at dinner, we talked to the manager of the China Closet adjacent to the photo shop (at Disneyland) to see about the possibility of having a photographer take a picture of the proposal. The proposal was supposed to happen on a Saturday night after the fireworks show, but due to high winds, the fireworks were cancelled. A photographer did come out, as well as the manager we had talked to. She presented our DD and her fiance' with a Jim Shore Cinderella coach as a gift (even though the actual proposal didn't take place until the next night!) For the proposal, a CM found a special spot by the castle for us to watch the fireworks show, then let DD and her fiance' go under the roped off area in front of the castle, so Kyle could propose. They were so kind to them. It wouldn't hurt for you to talk to a CM (or even more than one if you don't get a response) to see what they can do to help you. The smiles on the CMs faces as they witnessed the proposal made it even more special!! :goodvibes

Here are two pictures. One from the proposal and the other shows the Cinderella coach on the left of the table from our engagement party last Saturday. Sorry they're so small! :)

Ok so now I'm engaged! I'll give more details and pics later but just wanted to update you all. It happened last night at Sunset point at the Polynesian during wishes. :) More details with photos will follow later but I'm posting from my iPhone which is always very slow with text when I'm on disboards. Cool! Thanks all for your advice!

Wow this sounds so exciting! I would definitely make some calls and I'm sure Disney would help you out somehow...and she would LOVE it if you got it on camera! Don't be too nervous...just yourself! Best wishes!!
