Yes i just wanted to share with everyone my rationale for buying points at poly. Full disclosure, I'm the guy who used to go to disney once a year a pay retail price. After staying at kidani village, BLT and Saratoga, I decided that I enjoyed BLT the best, and need at least a 2 bdrm villa for my family of 5. My children are 13, 7 and 2 and only anticipate the needs wont diminish.

I currently own a 200 point resale contract at Bay Lake Tower.
I love the concept of the bungalows but I can't really justify spending over 2k a night on the room...so hello DVC!

I bought a june uy 180 point contract so I've got 360 to play with this summer with another 180 i can borrow for next year.. I ussually vacation in dream season, so I will be able to spend 4 nights in a bungalow essentially once every 3 years starting this year! I also want to stay in a studio to check It out as I can stay one week per year for 183 points. I have a family of 5 who knows...maybe Ill stay 3 bungalow nights and split some nights in a studio...

I plan on going the other years on my blt points....I've heard plenty of negative views on poly and feel that if anyone can help me validate my purchase it would be someone here lol.pixiedust:

Nice to hear from someone who has bought points with plans to stay in a bungalow.

Enjoy your purchase.

I'm really late on following the updates on the Poly (just had a baby 4 months ago and that has consumed all my free time)... But, if I could bank enough points, I would love to stay there, especially with having a young child. We could put her to bed and still enjoy the plunge pool and fireworks. Staying there would allow us to enjoy our vacation past 7:00 at night. That's a HUGE selling point to me!

Yes but in fairness there are many cheaper ways to do the same

Congratulations! I don't think anyone needs to validate your purchase. It's your money and your family, and you can make any decision that you feel is the right one for your needs. I also bought PVB points--on the first day they went on sale--and couldn't be happier with the decision. We originally bought a resale contract and found we loved the way it totally transformed our travel habits. We knew we needed more points and I wanted to buy a different home resort to give us more options. We travel at busy times, since my husband and I both work for the school system. The 11 month advantage is important. We have been trying out all the resorts over the past few years and liked them all. This past summer we stayed at GF, which I totally expected to be "the one". My family liked it, but when we walked over to Poly to have breakfast one morning, that was it. Everyone knew this was where we wanted to stay...we just felt at home there. I bought a small contract. Enough to give us a week every other year or let us do a split each year. We are fine with studios and appreciate the extra square footage and extra shower. Can't wait to book our first stay for over the summer! I have been reading all the negative posts this week and while I can see why people have those views, they have done nothing to dampen my enthusiasm. I bought for reasons that make sense to me for my family's travel needs. While the 7 month window may work fine for PVB, it also may prove more difficult. Because we travel around the major holidays, I didn't want to take that chance. Enjoy your purchase and those spectacular fireworks views!!

Good for you! The Poly is our favourite resort and we've bought enough points to give us a week in a studio two years in three, split stays with VGF. If we hadn't bought points we'd have been paying cash to stay there anyway so we figure this is a way to protect us from inflation.

I also think it's your money, your family and your vacation. We all love the resorts for various reasons. There might be a great one and a bad one for everyone. We all have different needs, opinions, wants, etc. so.........

Congratulations and enjoy your points!!!!

Thanks for posting. I'm officially jealous and hope you'll post a trip report and some pictures after your first stay in a bungalow. :)

Our original DVC and subsequent add-ons have been purchased solely based on our favorite places to stay -irregardless of promotional offers, cheapest dues, etc. They are purchases driven by emotion that we consider a personal extravagance. Obviously, they needed to pass the "can we afford this" test. After that, there has never been a day of regret. Congratulations!:3dglasses

Congratulations to you, too!! I can't wait to actually stay there...we've just visited to eat or stroll around. We find that the more we visit WDW, the more we love resort time. Every property has something special, but the atmosphere at the Poly is something else. This past summer when we were beginning to consider it, we spent some time talking to the CMs there. Even with all the construction going on around, the fondness they felt for their surroundings was genuine and sincere. It just seems like such a happy and relaxing place! Looking forward to my castle views while I sit by the pool sipping something tropical!

congrats!!! We are buying in as well, although can't get enough for the bungalows I am super jealous!

Congratulations! You don't need to justify anything to anyone. Only you know what is right for you and your family. I have considered buying but have decided to wait and see if we can stay in a studio first. Bungalows are not necessary for us since it is usually just my son and I. Enjoy!

First, congratulations on your purchase. Poly is an awesome resort and I hope I can stay there some day.

It seems the new DVC model if buying direct is to buy to only stay at that resort or one equivalent to it, then buying resale to use the other resorts. It would make no sense to pay $160 per point then use the points at one of the older resorts. It would only make sense to stay at Poly or GF with this purchase. These two monorail resorts kinda changed the dynamics of the club.

Congratulations! As others have stated, if PVB is what you like, it is your money.

DW and I started a conversation with our guide yesterday to addon at PVB. 98% sure we will buy a small add-on. We own at BLT And are very happy with it. Poly theme fits us. Tropical themed wedding. Father in law even played the ukulele at our wedding. He spent years playing the ukulele entertaining people.

Additionally, brand new pools, new hot tub, new splash area, new kitchens for the restaurants, new Trader Sam's Grog Grottto, etc. I can't remember the last time Disney did this much renovation at any resort. Even if they didn't add DVC to Poly, we want to visit the resort to see all the completed work.

Congratulations on your purchase! I hope you have many happy memories in your new "home" :cool1:

I think you made a great decision. In fact, I did something quite similar.

I added an extra contract in the fall and I bought a resale BLT for $105. I could have gotten SSR for $75 or a cheaper BLT. But the one I got was the use year I wanted and the point number I wanted. It was exactly what I wanted, so "maybe" I overpaid but it was what I wanted so to me it was a good deal.

Those bungalows are unique. And that is meant using the proper sense of the word. There are no other bungalow alternatives. A 2BR VGF is not the same. Waking up on the water and looking across at MK with nothing between you and the park but some water and some ferries....that's just awesome. And if that's the experience you REALLY want than you got a great deal. Because anything else you could have done would have left you unfulfilled.

Enjoy your Poly points, I believe you will need them to stay there. I'm relatively knew to this but it seems conflicting to me the number of people that say almost nobody is buying points to stay in the bungalow, yet it will not be too difficult to get a studio at 7 months because there are so many of them. I believe they sell enough points that the resort can be filled 365 days a year in both the bungalows and studios, and if most everyone only has enough points for 1 day in a bungalow they will want to stay in a studio AT Poly as they just paid $160+ for them.

Congratulations - enjoy!!!

In a way, I wish we didn't own an many points as we do because mentally/monetarily I can't justify a purchase - really we already have more points than we need :guilty:
