for those of you who love electronic doo-dads as much as I do, what do you recommend I take for America's 120v plugs?
I'll only be plugging in two laptops and a camera, the only issue being that I don't know yet if the Camera I buy will have a charger that can take 140v
If it can all will be fine but if it can't, what do you recommend I take with me?

Best tip I got on these boards was to take a power board with us - then we could recharge four things at once. We now leave it in the suitcase for whenever we are travelling.

That's what I do too.

I *think* your chargers should be fine, I found that my batteries wouldn't hold their charge as long, and figured it was because of the 120v The way I see it is you're only putting half the power into the charger so it's not going to over load it.

So powerboards that only say they are rated for 240v and 50hz work fine on 120v and 60hz as long as the devices connected to it can take it?

you need to go and buy a universal travel adapter i got mine from Dick smith or Target this will plug into the wall in the USA then you plug your power board with your Australian plug into that it converts the power. The travel adapter works the same when you come home all the electrical things we brought in the USA we plug into the adapter and charge them here we haven't had any problems charging anything.

My recommendation if you buy a few electrical products in the USA is to bring a power board home with you we only have 2 adapters and 5 cameras/videocameras that need charging at 1 time.

Oh that's okay I understood the recommendation, I was just paranoid that a 240v powerboard wouldn't work with the USA's 120v electrical current.
According to google and the Whirlpool forums they're all good since all they do is route the current, I'll simply be buying a high quality adapter and taking my awesome $50 powerboard with me.

May I clarify something? Most standard electronic devices - like laptops, phones and cameras are variable voltage: usually 100V - 240V.

WAMUMOF4 recommends a plug converter - which you definitely need - but it does not convert the POWER, it converts the configuration of the pins on the plugs.

So if you take an Australian appliance that is fixed at 240V - perhaps Bec that is your batteries - they will take twice as long to charge when plugged into a US outlet. Took me overnight to charge my Tablet last trip.

Make sure you check any applicances bought in the US to ensure variable voltage otherwise if you plug a 120V appliance into a 240V Australian outlet, the power surge will blow it.

So yes your powerboard will work fine - but some of your appliances may take longer to charge.

I do like WAMUMOF4 suggestion to buy a US powerboard if you purchase several US appliances - rather than having to have a pile of individual plug adapters!

Yeah, that was all fine, I was just worried that I'd take a powerboard and it would just trip out as soon as I plugged it into the US adapter.
my camera usually takes like 2 hours to charge so overnight should be easy.
