Well, we are just starting to think about a Disney Cruise for December, 2004. We know everything about the parks, but nothing about a cruise. So, how do I begin? Is there a place to order a catalog? How far in advance can you book? Has anyone ever used DVC points? Is it a waste of points? ANY HELP IS SOOOO APPRECIATED!!!

you can go to the Disney Cruise web site and order a free video and catalog, that will give you an idea.

These boards help a lot, you can get a lot of tips, also check out some of the web sites created by some of the board members as well, they have lots of great information.

It really helps to do a little research since there is so much to do on a cruise.

Thanks, do you you happen to have a link to the cruise web site? THANK YOU!!

WE also love the Passporter's Cruise book but if you don't plan on going until March 2004 or later, I would wait or see if you can get a cheap used copy. Alot of info is now outdated, especially on the Magic. So I would make sure you get a new copy in Feb I think. But even an old version is a great place to start!

Chip 1, check this link:
http://wdwig.com/cruise/Dcruise.shtml

This contains about a 70 page document with just about everything you would want to know. Although the site says the doc is updated frequently, I can see just on the first page with "ESPN Skybox" (which no longer exists as of last week) that it needs to be updated again. Regardless, there is a ton of information in this doc, which should hold you until the 2nd edition of the Passporter Cruise comes out in February.

Read these boards - read everything, you will be surprised at what you find burried in some of the threads. there is a good discussion of whether to purchase a cruise with cash or DVC points in this thread

Most of all, have fun!!

...and actually, this board has TONS of great information. If you don't see something, just ask! :) This gang has tons of good tidbits :)

and don't forget www.dcltribute.com/ Dave from Marietta's site---it has so much great information! And he very thoughtfully posts here often with the most accurate info. :D

Ah, but the first step is to go to the bank and take out a loan ...
Step 2 - Find a great "12 step" program, because once you go on the Magic or the Wonder, you will be back for more, therefor step one again.

Seriously, CastawayClub.com, DclTribute.com and WdwIg.com are all great resources along with this board. We are more than willing to share our experiences and opinions.

Enjoy the planning!
