Considering if we want to try it out. But is it really worth the money? What do we really get to see or do that we dont get any other time in the park?

Reactions: GWS
Pros:
Good fireworks
Fun parade
Great atmosphere
Character meet & greets you may not see other times

Cons:
Very crowded
You can watch the fireworks for free outside the park
You can wait until like December 20 or so and watch the party parade for free during the daytime at MK

I like the christmas party for the ambiance but in recent years, the crowds have grown so much that the parties are very crowded and you just can't get as much done during the party hours as you used to be able to. I don't feel it's worth the cost to go anymore, and will not be until they reduce the number of tickets sold.

Josh at easyWDW has a page that answers that specific question. You'll get a wide variety of opinions here and only you will know if it's worth it to you. As for me and mine, done it - done with it.

We haven't been to one, but I can tell you why we are going this year:
  • We went to our fist MNSSHP in 2013 and LOVED it! Have been dying to go to Christmas since
  • We are character fans so we like to see the rare characters
  • The special fireworks and parades were great at NSS, super excited for the Christmas version
  • Snow on Main Street? Yes, please.
The cost is high, but this might be a once in a life time thing for us. I have no idea if we will ever be able to visit during Christmas again, so we just have to! We also don't have kids, so it's just the two of us, so that helps with $$.

so they basically just have a firework show and extra xmas parade and some photos with characters? if Im not mistaken, isnt the park already decorated for xmas during that time with parades and fireworks etc... normally?

Another "pro" is that you are allowed in at 4pm and schedule fast passes from 4-7. This allows some guests to save money on a park ticket for the day (just spend the morning/afternoon at the pool or Disney Springs).

I think it's probably worth doing once if it's not a huge financial hardship. That said I won't be back any time soon. We went many years ago and it was great. Then we went in 2014 and it wasn't even sold out that night and the crowds were just too much especially for the parade & stage show. I'm short & couldn't see either.

What you get that you can't get other times:
Parade (unless you're there during the crowded Christmas week timeframe)
Stage show
Special character meet & greets - example I met Jack Skellington in his Sandy Claws outfit
"free" hot cocoa & cookies (neither are anything to write home about and yes I know you've more than paid for them)
Special fireworks show (Holiday Wishes)

You can see the castle lighting & all other decorations on other nights w/o going to a party or going Christmas week.

Here's our video of the 2014 MVMCP. The parade footage gives you an idea of the crowd levels. Brian was sitting up on a wall to see and he's 6'3"+. I could only see the tip top of the floats.

Since you asked for pros and con, there truly is only one con and that is the cost. If it were free no one could possibly have any complaints. It's time in Magic Kingdom with rides, characters, fireworks, stage shows and snacks. What's so bad about that?

Pros:
- the park is less crowded than virtually any other time in Nov/Dec (it's not empty and you still have to grab a good seat for the parade 20 minutes ahead of time, but overall it's maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10 in terms of crowds)
- there are some unique character opportunities (yes, you have to wait in line and some lines are long but they are keepsakes)
- other than 7DMT and maybe PP every other ride has virtually no line (it's a great time to binge ride BTMR)
- the atmosphere is super cool (walking down a snowy mainstreet is worth adding to your bucket list if you love Disney)
- extra time in the park (they let you in at 4pm, so you have 8 hours in the park if you can make it to midnight)

You won't have the park to yourself but you will certainly make some memories.

If your going to WDW to experience the holidays, isn't this event why your here?

Pros:
- Characters you don't normally see and they come out in large groups (7 dwarves + snow white all together for example).
- hot chocolate and cookies (not all that exciting but does add to the mood).
- park has different holiday background music
- main street is a little bit different lighting (halloween is very different).
- snoap on main street (fake snow falling down).
- xmas parade
- different fireworks that are 360 around the kingdom in a couple spots.
- holiday stage shows (castle stage and tomorrowland stage).
- there is a lot of dates and not going means out of the park by 7pm on those days
- if interested there is a themed desert party you can pay even more for (not worth it in my opinion and if your running around for characters, it'll take away time from that).
- see first con on crowds but if it's a non-ride crowd, rides are quick to get on..

Cons:
- might be crowded. crowds are either doing rides or everything but rides. it could go either way on any night for what you want to do while there.
- later at night, if your not a close the park person it could be a stretch to stay up and may impact your early morning get up and go somewhere plans.
- the day crowd might actually be smaller then the party crowd since everyone sees close at 7 and do another park.

If you skip con:
- the other parks will be more crowded at night because mk isn't opened for them.

You can wait until like December 20 or so and watch the party parade for free during the daytime at MK

There is a party on dec 22, it's probably going to be only 2 or 3 days it'll run without the party..

Yes the park is already decorated for Christmas. The parade and fireworks are exclusive to the party unless you are actually going the week of Christmas, then you can see them with regular park admission.
