We are going to be in Disney from the night of May 9th until the morning of the 17th.That is 7 full Dis. days. Because we have young children, we are sure we are taking atleast 1 day "off" We are staying at the Liki Tiki, so they have a blast in the little water park there. I think we have decided on 5 day hopper Plus tickets. I am finding that ticketmania has the best price. Anyone know if somewhere has better???

Also, Does anyone NOT do PS when going to Disney?? DH justs wants to at when we are hungry (between us and the other family going, the kids are 9, 6,2,2. ) He thinks eating counter service will be easier with the kids, and I guess we can eat off-site(if we leave for a bit in the afternoon for a "nap"). Just curious if anyone else skips PS...

Thanks!!

Melissa

I have been to Disney 3 times before and I never used PS. I young children and didn't eat in many onsite restaurants. We were able to eat at Prime-time in MGM and a late lunch in Italy without PS, but we honestly didn't have much interest given the cost with a bunch of kids! Offsite, there are many choices, and your dh's idea of counter service may work best with the ages of your kids. Just keep in mind that even w/counter service restaurants, the portion sizes are big and you may be able to split some of the meals.

If you're interested in a character meal, you'll want to try and get a PS. Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom has the Winnie the Pooh character meal for B, L, and D. Chef Mickey's has one also. The Garden Grille in Epcot has a highly recommended L and D meal as well as the character Ice Cream Social which has PS everyday at around 3:00p for $6.99/person.

Have a wonderful trip!!!:D

For us, counter service seems like more trouble than PS's, but our kids are older. On a spur-of-the moment trip with 4 kids and no hubby, I ended up in the line from H**l at a counter service in MK at lunch time, and there were no tables! I sent 3 oldest kids (11,10,8)to the dining room as table scouts while youngest and I waded through the mob with 2 trays! It was an experience I do not want to repeat. Also, my youngest 2 are a little picky, and counter service is generally a little more limited than most sit-down restaurants. I suggest looking on Deb Wills' site for what is available at each park, and decide what restaurants serve something everyone will like. We thought the "meal deal" at AK was a good deal, but some of my kids wanted pizza while others wanted chicken, so we ended up having the chicken-eaters walk to the pizza restaurant with their lunch to join us. Just have a basic idea of what food is served where, be prepared for a line, and you will be fine with counter service. If you are already planning to leave the park at lunch for a break, the off-site fast-food choices are better than on-site.

Try Maple leaf tickets best price last DEC for 5 day tickets. Check to see if the price includes tax.. 800-841-2847
We never go to WDW without PS. It really depends on the time of year, we go over the Christmas holiday, and without PS you would not be able to eat dinner, at anytime in the parks. We were at EPCOT on the 25th and a woman came into San Angel and asked to have dinner, she was told we are all filled up, her response was OK when can I come back and eat, the CM repeated we are all filled up for the entire night.

With that many people, waiting in line may be difficult, but if you time your meals to start before or after the "peak" times you'll have the best bet (and always carry a few snacks to hold someone over-DH- if they're hungry and you find yourself waiting in a long line).

If you're doing any sit-down restaurants as a group you may want to get a few PS's because the bigger your party, the longer you'll wait for a table if you don't have PS. And if there's any restaurants you for sure want to eat at, make PS-like on an "off" day or something at a hotel.

We have 2 little ones, and generally we eat counter service 95% of our trip. It's just easier to not have to schedule eating times into our park days. Plus it is a little cheaper than the sit-down restaurants. We just find that eating on the go is more for us than taking time to sit-down. There's too much to do!

If you find you're on an "off" day and you have found a place you want to eat, you can call in the morning or the day before and make PS as well. Good luck!

When we take the kids, we make PS for the character meals we want to be sure to get into. Other than that, it was counter service or whatever was available. If you go during a busy time and want to have at least one onsite sit down meal, I would suggest picking it before you go and making PS. If you couldn't care less, why go to the bother of having to make the ressie, keeping the PS # handy, and scheduling it into your day? You'll have fun no matter which you choose, so don't sweat it!

If you are a AAA member check your local branch to see if they have Park Hoppers cheaper then ticketmania....I was within a a day of ordering ours from ticketmania but then found out that the ones at AAA were a lot cheaper then ticketmania. With AAA each state works out their own deal with WDW for tickets so some states prices are better then others.

We have DD 6 and 3 years old. We like having PS and eating at the sit down resterants. Most all of the sit down restrants are wonderful with kids and the girls have a great time during the planning on picking out the resturants we will be going to. Mind you we are a family who loves planning so it works for us and the other key thing is that we make and eat breakfast and dinner in our room so we are only paying for one meal so the extra expence of the sit down is ok. I don't think my family could handle the lines at the counter service places day after day, but that is just us and all families are different.
