Ok, NOW TRU w/o receipt?

After reading the post about today being the last day to return w/o reciept, I drag my husband out in the snow to take me to TRU. My 2yo got a train from g-gramdma who is 85 and does not give her phone #, pays w cash and never asks for a gift reciept. The people were all so stinkin mean about "policy" it was a joke. So my DH calls corp. and the "manager" pretty much tells him too bad we should teach grandma to ask for reciepts. We are so livid, we have spent SO much money in there in the past 8 years and we will never set foot in another TRU again. All we wanted was to exchange it for one he did not have(same brand/same price) They really should make the exception for a few days and how can some stores do it if its a corp. policy.
